Newcastle have been linked with Ghana International winger Andre Ayew for over two years now, and he will become a free agent in the summer, and there have been reports in Italy that Newcastle are now keenly interested in the player, with Inter-Milan having made a move for Andre.
Andre Ayew – Newcastle have been interested for two years
Andre was on target last night for Marseilles in the 78th minute in their 6-1 hammering of Toulouse away, but PSG’s 4-1 home win today put the Paris side at the top of the French League on 56 points, 3 points above Marseilles in 3rd place and 2 points above Lyon in 2nd place.
Reports coming out of Italy are that Newcastle are back in for Ayew, but they will have Inter-Milan to compete with and some other big clubs have also expressed an interest in signing the goals-scoring winger this summer.
The 25 year-old winger/striker would be an excellent acquisition for Newcastle if we can get him, and we know the club likes to go after talented free agents – because they are cheap – sorry – that should be – because they are good value for money. 😀
But free agents are no longer “free” these days and enticements such as signing-on fees and high wages are used to attract some of the top free agents.
The news on who Andre will sign for is likely to be a long drawn out affair over the next few months, and that’s been true of many Newcastle transfer targets, even when we are successful.
Marseilles are still holding out hope of signing Andre to a new deal to keep him in the south of France, and that’s a possibility – although he would be a great signing for Newcastle and in the past he has said it his dream to play in the English Premier League.
This season the 62 times capped Ghana International has scored 7 goals in 21 games for Marseilles.
We hope we can get this lad to Tyneside.
