Newcastle are reported to be interested in Senegal center-back Papy Djilobodji. the 6’4″ center-back who currently plays for FC Nantes.
Papy Djilobodji – Nantes center-back
Newcastle will be keen to bring in both an experienced striker and experienced center-back over the summer transfer window, and Papy has played twice for the full Senegal squad.
Djilobodji was born in Kaolack in Senegal and he began his career with ASC Saloum in the Senegal Premier League, before he moved to French club US Senart-Moissy in 2009.
The 26 year-old left footed player joined FC Nantes one year later in 2010, and he’s played 174 times for the French club with 9 goals and 2 assists.
Newcastle could well be interested in him because his contract at Nantes runs out in the summer, and he would be available as a free agent.
Djilobodji can play at center-back or in defensive midfield, so he is quite a versatile player who is strong in the tackle and a good header of the ball.
Sunderland and Stoke City are also said to be interested in him.
What do you think?

Comment #1Born and in Kaolack was he?
Are we sure it wasn’t his agent telling Charnley to call back when he’s got a decent offer to make!

Comment #4Who’s allowed to go to these fan forum meetings and ask questions?
…it seems no one wants to ask the important questions or dig into the answers they get.

Comment #5Hope not. No more cheap african shite please. Forget the french too. What about some decent English players. Shell out on Ings, Austin, Milner just for starters especially as QPR and Burnley seem to be heading back down and Milner us free.

Comment #6No expensive English shite either please!
…just spend the money on what’s needed (regardless of Nationality)
Of course they need to make up the numbers of homegrown players required (hence developing players), and be weary about ACON.

Comment #8NEWEXPATMAGPIE…what more confirmation do you need that Carver is Head Coach?
…he could loose the job in the summer if he doesn’t deliver what the board believes is enough (probably staying in the PL will be enough).
Read the minutes!

Comment #9We’ll probably end up with a few bargain buys picked up from the lower table teams around Europe with Steve Cotterill as head coach

Comment #10@8:
I am kind of still hoping that JC is not going to get the Job because i see him as just another version of Pardew who will be fulfilling his Head Coach in exactly the same way as Pardew did !
That for me would be a missed Opportunity because i believe we have a decent squad, but we don,t have a Trainer who is qualified to use it !
Plus as long as Ashley is owner, that problem will stay!
