John Carver and his assistant coaches Steve Stone and former Everton captain and caretaker manager Dave Watson were at Goodison Park on Thursday night to watch Everton as they beat Dynamo Kiev in the Europa League.

The coaches were checking out our opponents for Sunday afternoon at Goodison Park.
Dynamo scored first after only 14 minutes and the crowd were rather apprehensive before Naismith equalized after 39 minutes and Lukaku scored the winner from a penalty after 82 minutes.
The crowd seemed to be rather anxious in that first half and John Carver talked about that:
“I’ve got to be honest, I was scared because it was pretty daunting,” “I was there with Steve and Dave who is an Everton legend, and he’d never seen or heard anything like that before.”
“He found it quite strange.” “All the pressure this weekend is on Everton, not ourselves. I’ve told our guys they can go out and express themselves”
“Everton came out of the game with great credit, showing character to win after going behind, dominating the second half and deserving the result.”
“But all the pressure this weekend is on Everton, not ourselves.” “I’ve told our guys they can go out and express themselves.”
Of course if Everton beat us on Sunday then they close the current 7 point gap to just four points, and we’ve gained just one point a game under John Carver in the Premier League, and that’s not good going.
We need to start winning some games soon, so we can keep our of any relegation scares.
Newcastle really need to win and the advantages seem to be with us, but there again we’ve hardly been playing well recently.
We hope we can get all 3 points – we need them.
