Papiss Cisse is suspended for seven games after admitting he spit at Jonny Evans in our last game at home to Manchester United.
Papiss Cisse – we wont see this for at least seven games
And in his press conference today interim head coach John Carver said the Senegal International was feeling down because everything’s that’s happened.
This is what Carver said about the 32 times capped International, who has scored 16 goals for his country:
“Papiss is down because of everything that has happened.” “He made a good statement, a proper statement and he was right to do that because there’s no place in the game for that.”
“He was provoked and did retaliate. I think one or two would have retaliated differently and got less of a ban, but he’s accepted it and the club has dealt with it in the right way.”
“He was a loss during the African Cup of Nations and he’s a loss now because Papiss is our main attacking threat.” “But this is a chance for others to step up to the plate.”
“We’re putting out a team that is giving forwards the opportunity to score goals.”
Newcastle need to have somebody step up to the plate and we think young Ayoze Perez is probably our best bet, although it is asking a lot of the youngster, who was supposed to be playing for the Development side this season.
Manu Riviere could also come through, but he missed two sitters in our last game against the Red Devils, but on the positive side he did earn what should have been a penalty after just 10 minutes.
John Carver is likely to play only one man up front on Sunday at Everton, and John seems to put together a side that is set up not to lose – rather than go out to win the game.
We’ll see how the lads play at Goodison Park, but we are due a good performance, and the team has had 11 days to prepare for this one game.

Comment #41KK spat his his dummy out way too easily. He did it twice at Newcastle and once with England. His attitude under Hall left us having to take on managers who were not up to the job costing the club time and money. Leading to the ultimate demise of Hall and Shepherd. Although they played a major role in the decline and fall into the arms of Mike Ashley.
As Jeff said you really don’t know your club history.

Comment #43Ashley must be loving his club’s situation at the moment! Virtually nothing to lose; but nothing to gain either !

You too have a strange view on our club’s history! Without KK we would probably be in the same position as say Sheffield Weds or Birmingham now with no hope of getting in and staying in the PL!

Comment #45Maybe because your being very selective. Your taking just part of our history to suit your argument. Certainly Post Hall then Keegan was a drain on the club.
