Moussa Sissoko has had a good season for Newcastle, but he was making noises in January that he wanted to join a bigger club, and we could hear that again in the summer.
Moussa Sissoko challenges Wayne Rooney last time out
And if we do, it could well mean that this is Moussa Sissoko’s last season on Tyneside, but only if a club comes in with a big enough offer for him.
Newcastle’s way of doing transfers these days is that if an offer matches Mike Ashley’s valuation of the player, then he’s gone almost immediately, whether or not the club can replace him.
That kind of policy, where every player has their price, makes it very difficult for any head coach to build up a good side.
John Carver is trying to get a top 10 finish for Newcastle this season, for only the third time since Mike Ashley bought the club in June, 2007.
But it’s now a tall order with so many players out injured, and it didn’t help that top goal scorer Papiss Cisse got himself banned for seven games last time out against Manchester United.
We are 5 points from 10th place (West Ham), and Moussa Sissoko has been interviewed today and says top ten is still the goal for this season:
“We want to finish in the top 10, so every player stays focused at the training ground and every weekend to do the best.”“People can talk about us, but we try to do the best every game.”
“We will see where we will be at the end of the season.” “Jonas’ return was emotional for every player and all the people,”
“We all know what he has been through. I’m very happy for him and I hope he will show the best for the rest of the season.”
Newcastle will have money available in the summer to bring in new players, so once the financial results are announced we hope a sizable portion of the profits will be used to build up our squad.
And then maybe we will have something to look forward to next season in the Premier League – if not in the Cups, where presumably we will continue to field weakened sides.
Maybe?

Comment #41Dok…The bikinis are in hibernation at the minute, but not long to wait now.
Actually, the weather has been weird the past few days. Some sort of fog taking over.
Anyway, some good news, well, there’s, emmm….oh yeah…you know….actually….hmmm…let me get back to you buddy.
hibbit…It would seem that way. I think the clubs answer about Ashley maybe being willing to sell come the end of next season has worked a treat tbh. Each and every year there’s a new reason for us to sit tight and wait.
I think people feel helpless, so wonder what the point is. Problem is, people are just giving up and becoming more disconnected. Not wanting to be a drama queen, although I’m sure a few on here will think I am, but I do worry about how things can turn around. A lot of damage has been done. Belief and pride are hard things to bring back.

if you’re happy with the dross on show at Newcastle good for you, you don’t get continues poor performances from a quality side. I agree we have half a dozen decent player’s but the rest are no more than championship quality, We witness it every time we play. When’s the last time we actually dominated a game even against teams in the bottom half of the league?
SJP is always full because most must think we’re capable of winning.
We’re sh.t as a team, without serious investment we struggle next season like we did last.
Poor!

The Companies House website should show the latest date by which a company’s accounts must be published.
That should clarify things…. err well….

Comment #50@ 35 – Yes Jeff, directly inspired the first line and it defecated from there.
@42 – I could come up with a few unscrupulous reasons, like PR but it does not make much impact. A legitimate reason could be that a mistake was spotted by the auditors and it is taking time to go back through the records to correct. Last possibility is tax, perhaps the payment can deferred if the accounts are submitted after the 5th April and it will then be for the prospective buyer of the club to clear up down the line. All just uneducated theory and supposition.

Comment #51I see Jak Alnwick has signed on loan to Bradford until the season end. I’d be surprised if he was offered a further contract there.
