Newcastle Want To Sign Former Striker Target

In the summer of 2011 Newcastle’s top striker target was Kevin Gameiro,  who at the time was at Lorient  and playing in his home country.

But Kevin preferred to join PSG in the summer of 2011 rather than Newcastle who were reported to have bid £10M for the French International.

In the summer of 2013 he joined Sevilla for £8M on a five year deal.

And there’s news today in the Sunday People that Newcastle scouts have been watching the French striker who turns 28 in May, and that Newcastle are keen on signing their former target in the summer.

Chief Scout Graham Carr was reported at the game between the defending Europa League champions Sevilla at Villarreal, and Sevilla won the game 3-1.

Kevin  Gameiro scored in the 50th minute and had an assist the 1st minute as he set up Machin Perez to score.

The transfer fee of Gameiro seems to be back around £10M, and even Liverpool are reported to be interested in him, although that would some as a surprise if it’s true.

Newcastle will sign at least one striker this season, but we’d be very surprised if it’s Gameiro.

While at Lorient for three seasons from 2008 Kevin scored 56 goals in 120 appearances with 19 assist, but he had a tough two years at PSG where he played only 23 times with two goals,.

Since signing for Sevilla in July of 2013 he has scored 28 goals and 4 assists in 61 appearances.

We would be very surprised if Newcastle are really interested in the 27 year-old striker this summer.

Bloody hell same names over and over again. It seems we have a list and once you’re on that list you don’t come of it until we sign you.

No matter how many times you turn us down you shall always remain on the list.

    Ed.

Rather than post a headline that’s apparently based on fact, it might be helpful to add a question mark to it if it’s based on press speculation or rumour.

I thought you were not a sheep poster.:

Waltz right in, why don’t you?
I guess that was always the plan.
With a smile on your face saying you own the place,
“Don’t you know who I am?”

I know who you are alright
The opened door let in a chill
I’ll not make hay whatever you say
I don’t want your cheap thrill.

    Once when sides were taken
    yours was surely mine.
I never left, you fell out of step
and marched to another man’s time.

When I looked for a friend where were you?
There were times I was under attack.
When I needed a shield you were truly revealed
    you never had my back.

So now you need me for something,
the tables are turned for a while.
Sure, I’ll help, but not you, someone else.
I’m turning my back on your smile.
