Ryan Taylor, Colback And Riviere All Start

John Carver has just announced the Newcastle team for this afternoon’s Premier League game at Everton and there’s no Ayoze Perez or Remy Cabella in the starting line-up.

Teams:

Everton (4-2-3-1): Tim Howard; Seamus Coleman, Antolin Alcaraz, Phil Jagielka (c), Leighton Baines; Darron Gibson, James McCarthy; Aaron Lennon, Leon Osman, Arouna Kone; Romelu Lukaku
Substitutes: Joel Robles, Luke Garbutt, John Stones, Muhamed Besic, Ross Barkley, Christian Atsu, Steven Naismith

Newcastle (4-2-3-1): Tim Krul; Daryl Janmaat, Mike Williamson, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Ryan Taylor; Moussa Sissoko, Jack Colback; Gabriel Obertan, Yoan Gouffran, Sammy Ameobi; Emmanuel Riviere
Substitutes: Rob Elliot, Lubomir Satka, Vurnon Anita, Jonas Gutierrez, Remy Cabella, Ayoze Perez, Adam Armstrong

Referee: Martin Atkinson (Yorkshire)

Newcastle will play in a 4-2-3-1 formation as expected and Colback and Sissoko will be the two holding central midfielders.

But Manu Riviere gets the start in preference to 21 year-old Perez, although we should see the youngster in the second half.

It looks like it’s Yoan Gouffran playing directly behind Riviere in the number 10 role today and Jonas is again on the bench and we could see the Argentine at some point in the game.

Almost one in two fans think we will lose this game.

It would be good for John Carver to get his 3rd win in 11 attempts today.

wtf is perez not out there??? only reason is that ashley isnt ready to cash in on him yet, so they want to limit his exposure. It cant possibly be we have better options then him.

And only 3 defenders in the whole team. It’s a mess right now.

Shocking Carver electing for Gouffran over Perez/Cabella. He’s obviously going for the draw even against an out of form and tired Everton who he only friday said had all the pressure on them.

Rivière will be isolated as per, all this is just so Predictable it’s painful.

4-2-3-1 apparently, so who is playing in centre of that 3 behind Riviere I do wonder.

The starting lineup looks okay to me, I am just confused how they fit into this formation.

I would normally object to Sammy starting, but considering that he is playing for a new contract, he may as well get his chance.

Gouffran & Obertan over Cabella & Perez? laughable. Raylor up against lennon oh dear. Why Anita doesn’t play there is beyond me. Played at LB at ajax and has a fair amount of pace

To be fair, against a tired and out of form everton, it’s probably a good team to get a feel of how pace and work rate could work against them
Jonas, Cabella and Perez are three pretty nifty substitutes to bring on and break a deadlock. Might just work.

    Or we’ll get hammered 5-0.

Oh well, there’s one thing for certain, for the last three seasons there’s never been a single game where you would say we would definitely win or lose. So we just have to duck it (up) and see once again. We have to be the worst team to watch for a nervous condition.

Uh oh…I think we are relying on Gouffran, Ameobi and Obertan to retain and use the ball a lot better than we usually do, or Sissoko and Colback are in for a long afternoon…

4-2-3-1. Looks like it’d work….not. It’s never worked you tit. We haven’t got the players for it. Rivvy in particular definitely doesn’t suit the lone striker role. Even cisse struggles in it. Alien heed running without the ball. Can’t wait. Goofy as a secondary fullback. Fcuking get in. Hurrah!

Looking on the positive side unlike so few on here, I think the No.10 role will suit Goufran as he came to us as a central striker. On the other hand I would have found a place for Perez although luckily I’m not the manager and I’ll back John Carver as long as he’s in charge. Sing your hearts out for the lads!!!!!

As Cabella is returning from injury and although I would have preferred Ayoze up front, I don’t mind Gouffran up top if part of two in attack. He has always looked half decent there – keeping things simple and having half an eye for goal.

I actually remember the games before he was “Pardewed” and asked to play almost everywhere on the pitch. He’s a better player than many give him credit for when he is going forward.

We’ll soon see what sort of a job carver expects him to do.
