There’s some excellent news for Newcastle fans today that Siem de Jong is ready to return to training after suffering his collapsed lung in early February, when he was so close to a return to the first team.
Siem de Jong – to return to training
At that time he was said to be out for eight weeks, but it looks like he is ready to resume training – at least on his own to begin with.
This is what Siem has said on his Twitter account:
“The last X-ray was all good. So I will start training for myself again.”
Of course the priority is making sure Siem is OK physically, and that he doesn’t come back too early, but hopefully the problem he had that caused him to have two collapsed lungs in 18 months has now been fixed.
That would be good news indeed.
Siem is not only a classy player who can score goals, but he is also a leader and strong in the dressing room, and we need some of that leadership right now.
So just having Siem back in training and maybe even part of the match day squad will have very beneficial effects on the team.
It’s good news about Siem de Jong, and we don’t get much good news these days.
Now we need to hear that Rolando Aarons is fully recovered from his hamstring problems and we may even be back in business.
Maybe.

I read that too. NUST I think it was, Sat down with the developer (can’t remember there name, nexus?) and they got told it would be possible to expand even after the structure/accommodation was built. 5-6k extra would theoretically be possible.
I get the feeling it was more to appease them than offer hope though as the club wouldn’t see the benefits. Much like anything else.

Comment #44It must be nice for fans of other clubs that have money available (like Newcastle) and knowing that you’re club and owner have ambition. Instead of the money making regime created by Mash along with our dross football.

true the way its run now it makes us fans scared of getting excited about a player as we know they will more than likely be sold if a decent offer comes in for them and then we end up laughing stocks yet again !
sell our best fill our squad with avg players throughout write off whichever season we are in because next season looks brighter only for something else to happen next season 🙁
we live in hope every year we can hang onto our best and make some better quality signings (which the club does well in) but they let go of the best.
if we get ayew and with lescalles/darlow coming in it would be an improvement imo but sadly they will find a way of selling a good player to put us where we started imo.
not much for fans to be proud of atm we are gratfull we are a mid table prem team and in good financial terms but when we dont want to win anything it doesnt inspire.

Comment #50Yeah it’s laughable Jeff. Laughable that he hasn’t. Even if you ignore it or even deign to type a rebuttal, you know you crouch over your keyboard waiting for the opportunity to spurt out acidic comments for your own entertainment. it’s clear that you are immune to any gestures to become a personable participator here.
Transfer Sage crash landed on this blog with ‘ hot info’ at a time when anti – ITK feeling was at fever pitch, but in a short space of time, sensed the mood and became a valued contributor. Jeff , you have done everything to avoid that personal catastrophe. To the point that any seeming renaissance would have to be treated with prejudice.

They can’t even stop behaving like offing goldfish long enough to get rid of these two.

Comment #58Since Newcastle United last won a major domestic trophy….. 60 years come May, Yes Sixty Years. I know ,unbelievable. And here are the managers who have managed ( word used loosely in quite a few cases) Here we go. Livingstone, Mitten, Harvey, Lee, Dinnis, McGarry, Cox, Charlton, McFaul, Smith, Ardiles, Keegan, Dalglish, Hullit, Sir Bobby Robson, Souness, Roeder, Allerdyce, Keegan, Kinnear, Shearer, Hughton, Pardew, and Carver. Mike.(and I know you check out these blogs, keeping the old finger on the pulse) The manager who’s in charge at the moment is driving your 52000 seater bus off a cliff Out of the aforementioned men he must be the least competent to manage Newcastle United Football Club.I’m sure He’s a nice fella and all that, but …………you’re not a dunderheid, so what you playing at. Get Rid and look sharp. (No John you read the last bit wrong, they’re not two new signings)

Comment #59What’s pompous about it Jeff? Does observation have to be classed as pompous? I put some big words in because I know you like them. Contrition, for example. That’s a good word. Sadly some things are an acquired taste.

I read that about the developer saying another five-six thousand seats could be added to SJP.
I took that to be a response to NUST’s claim that any increase on capacity wouldn’t be possible if the land’s sold.
Ashley’s got no reason to want to get more bums on seats. He doesn’t need them.
There’s enough in current attendance revenue to provide a steady cash flow the years.

Comment #64Mactoon, yeah I gathered that he changed his persona at an opportune time (a critical point early in what could have been the height of the days of oprimism) but my illustration is that he was conscious that his ruse would backfire on his blogging integrity if he was to go head to head with other posters, so he was contrite and reasonable. If you recall, I was one of his most vocal ridiculers. Jeff on the other hand changed his sign on but definitely not his personality.

it’s fine by me i dont judge but just to let you know my backside is not available and is purely for the exiting of produce 😉
and i’d play goofy as lb he’s mostly defending anyways and does a decent job at it imo so i’d rather him be in a defensive position instead of a creative position !

All of Ashleys so called mistakes are not Mistakes ,,they are/where.. a deliberate attempt to piss off the passionate and the Militant..
Knowing that they would probably wrap their season tickets in, he could then replace them with the theatre going types who are not interested in our past or our future, and just go along to the match for the colour and the noise ..not to mention the Jolly up .
He moved the singing section ..got rid of the Militant who told him how they feel, in that , he killed off the Passionate supporters and ends up with a stadium full of mice .
Mistakes ? ..Nah..all deliberate..Get rid of the real supporter. Job Done .. easy life….Almost.

Comment #77Aww B, I’m sure that would never have happened in a month of Sundays. I have met a lot of people over the last few years, some from the blog and from many other places and one of my favourite and most hard working/caring/intelligent new found friend came from the most unlikely of places. Suppose I’m trying to say we’re an open minded bunch o’ people and respected everyone’s strengths and weaknesses, I suppose – but no worries, it’s history now.
