John Carver admits he is frustrated at losing the Newcastle captain Fabricio Coloccini for three games, after his sending off at Everton last Sunday.
That was the second successive game in which a Newcastle player has been suspended for his actions, after Papiss Cisse is now out a massive seven games for spitting at Jonny Evans in the home game against the Red Devils.
Coloccini receiving his red card on Sunday
It’s a pity he didn’t just punch Jonny – because then he would have only received a four match ban for violent conduct.
But two of our best players have now managed to get themselves suspended, and Newcastle and John Carver have to get on with it, and we host an in-form Arsenal side on Saturday.
🙁
Newcastle appealed Colo’s sending off to the FA, but we were not successful as Colo had both feet off the ground when he made his stupid lunge at Aaron Lennon.
This is what a frustrated John Carver has said about the captain:
“He’s not that type of player. Every now and then, his head goes, but that’s football.” “We’re losing our captain for another derby game, and he has not played in many derby games lately.”
“There’s not much skin left on the bone (in the squad), to be quite honest.” “I’ve just said to Dave Watson, ‘get yourself sorted out, because you might have to make a comeback here!’”
“I’ll work with the guys I’ve got to work with, and if I need to reshuffle it, I will, and I’ll just deal with it.” “It’s down to me to work with the players we’ve got.”
“Nobody else can help – other than my staff, who are great – and we will work on it and have to look at different options now.”
“We’re down to the bare bones, but I’ll work with what I’ve got, because that’s my job and that’s what I get paid for.”
And if John never complains about the ridiculousness of the bare bones Newcastle squad he may even be given the job dull time in the summer, but it will not be because of his record, which is very poor with just 2 wins in 11 games in charge.
And it will be interesting to see what Newcastle’s back four is against Arsenal, with Daryl Janmaat being moved to center-back.
John Carver has Ryan Taylor, Jonas, Vurnon Anita and Lubo Satka who can play at right back.
Maybe Ryan will move over the right back and either Jonas or a fit Haidara can come in at left back.
But Newcastle are now down to the b are bones with all the injuries and suspensions we have picked up this year to players like Steven Taylor, Cheick Tiote and Paul Dummett.

I think you’re being pessimistic. I predict Arsenal will score no more than five goals. It could reach double figures against Liverpool, though!

You cannot deflate my optimism. 😀
Beside our head coach knows what he is doing. He has told the players and us fans that they do not need any extra motivation for this game. So that’s sorted then. Makes John’s life a bit easier there.
Maybe they just need to go out there and express themselves again, like they did at Everton. After all that self expression reduced a poor Everton side to only three goals.
Carvers master plan!
Arsenal have a lot of ability in their team and are back in form, Newcastle lack any sort of ability I fear this will be a rout.

Comment #4No news or injury updates, just excuse after excuse after excuse.
Colos head is up his arse, has been since he got here, now and again he plays a decent game, total liability majority of time.

Latest injury news, the squad is injured and/or suspended.
But at least we are in good shape for the rest of the season, and that must be true because we had no need to strengthen in January. In fact we could get rid of a few of players, so we must be in good shape.

Yes, we’re threadbare and this was inevitable.
The world at large knew before the season even started that the squad wasn’t strong on quality and quantity.
However, Mr Carver was happy to work with what he had in January and now, he’s stuck.
If Carver knew what the HC job was when he was embarrassly trying to worm his way into it, he should have said something then!

With Carver it seems it’s not about the job, or the money, or even his ability to do the job. For him it’s all about social position, the prestige that come with the job.
All he ever wanted was his own parking space, his own office and his own chair. He has them now, and he will try to cling onto them for dear life.
Mind he won’t need to cling too hard at this club, he is a perfect fit for Ashley regardless of results.
