Newcastle United seem to be in danger of losing out on top forward target Andre Ayew, who will become a free agent in the summer, when his five year contract with Marseilles runs out.
Andre Ayew – top Newcastle target
The news a week or so ago was that Newcastle had already met with the player’s agent and we have put our offer to the player, and Newcastle were hoping to close a deal.
But other bigger clubs are also starting to talk to Ayew’s agent, and there was news yesterday in Italy that Inter-Milan are currently in talks with the winger, and that Roma and Napoli are also still interested in signing the player.
So it’s one thing that Newcastle have talked to the player’s agent, but it’s another to get him to sign along the bottom line for the Tyneside club, who will not be in Europe any time soon.
Those Italian clubs interested in Andre are both bigger and more ambitious clubs than Newcastle are these days, and they compete regularly in Europe, so it’s going to be difficult for Newcastle to sign the 25 year-old.
We still have a chance, but it’s very rare that Newcastle can beat out the bigger clubs these days – although we did that last summer to get Ayoze Perez to Newcastle.
So you never know.
We live in hope – as usual.

I’d hazard a guess he won’t sign a new deal.

Not that the blog has owt to do with politics like, but Thatcherism has always been a recurring theme in the writings of Ashley’s most unshakable supporters.

Comment #83In fact, I’ve been trying, in various coded ways, to say this since I started posting.
The divide on this blog isn’t a football one. It’s always been a political one.

Comment #85Only consolation is that clubs such as Everton, Stoke and Swansea have less appeal than NUFC in terms of potential and as areas to live.
Appointing Garde and sending out a signal that we have the intent and ambition to rejoin the big time would change target transfer players thinking on which club to join in the Premiership.

Comment #86BandB interesting -can you develop your argument so we know where you are coming from.
I have the view that the divide on the blog is perhaps not so complicated just a case of:-
Knackers versus Non knackers.

Comment #87Bigirimani said his condition didn’t stop him playing before he went to Scotland. And were the others unfit, or just not match fit?
I’m taking Rangers say with a pinch of salt. These lads are being as pawns in a fight between money men.

Haha I would consider myself a new reader on here for the most part, the old guard I regularly conversed with seem to of dissipated for the most part barring those pitbulls that refuse to give up the good fight
Mostly though its much the same some good points some bad a lot just looking for attention but unlike themag I dont think people on here post just to get views on their pages or promote their propaganda, for all its faults this blog does tend to balance itself out in its articles…plus it sometime reminds me that every so often we can dare to hope

Comment #91Slank was very much a muck and brass “you don’t get owt for nowt” person. As was bills-son.
TDS, Ian, Carl, and now Jeff have all been more explicit in stating where their political sympathies lay when arguing in support of the Ashley mindset.
Even ex-OV members hinted at it from time to time.
These have been the chief Ashley defenders and advocates throughout the history of the blog.

The arguments between you and Small World are a perfect case in point.
You advocate collective action. Small World believes strongly that it is a matter of individual choice.

Comment #97I am still none the wiser as to what bigi has read a couple of articles
is it the reason he bumped to the reserves last season after a pretty good first season and why he hadn’t gone out onloan
obviously the club don’t want it to be common knowledge tricky position for bigi as well as I am sure he doesn’t want it out there and I can see rangers telling all just to spite Ashley

I am sorry for calling you that horrid name. It is a very easy word to type in a hurry when you are speechless.
You can be a bit Lesley Philipps for my thin skin at times.
But the blog is a democracy, and we do have to extend the right to be heard even to those we consider toilet parts. And it works both ways.
I bet no-one much reads for the worthy conversations on the merits or demerits of 4.2.3.1.
It’s a circus, and we all play our part.

Comment #101Not a problem BandB mate. I like the whole Leslie Phillips comparison. If I have to be a toilet part can I be known as The Flusher? It suits me to a T. I will flush away the dreaded Ashley if it’s the last thing I do. Harrumph!!!

The blog is a democracy but NUFC is a dictatorship. Any that don’t agree with MA are either swiftly moved on or banned as in the case of the press.
Unfortunately we have many spineless fans as part of our great fan base. Small world takes great pleasure out of others vacating seats so he can upgrade to better ones. We have some right old self centered individuals who think of themselves and nufc comes 2nd to that. Then you have those who have self pride and won’t be lied to and won’t stand for the tripe that gets shown and repeated season after season. The ones who actually believe in the greater good rather than self gain. I do think we have a small minority who are caught in the middle as they have signed up to 2 or 3 year season tickets etc.
Overall we get exactly what we deserve, our fan base and passion is why MA chose this club, doesn’t matter what he does 50k will always turn up!!

Comment #114The vast majority of Ashley’s wealth comes from SD. I fear that there is very little supporters can do, whether individually or en masse, to impact his decision making at our club. It is so depressing that it makes me sick. More and more I feel that no matter what we might do, Ashley will simply continue to fulfill his own mandate which seems to be motivated by a perverse desire to piss us all off.

Comment #115I blurred a couple of thoughts there and totally missed my own point. Ashley’s wealth is from SD which means that NUFC is a trifle to him….its his free advertising for sure…..but as a financial venture it is small potatos compared to SD. So I fear that there is very little we can do to sway his mindset because there is no critical mass in terms of finance at the club. Sure he wants to run it at a profit, but it is not in and of itself, large enough to impact him in the pocketbook. So how do we get SD shares to nosedive?

The new TV deal which is worth a shed load will only be lucrative to those that fill stadiums, teams have already been told that half empty stadiums means no live coverage. That’ll be 2m per live match shown which fans could impact on along with loss of ticket revenue. It’ll make a huge dent into his running of the club

Comment #118My biggest fear and has been for awhile that is once Ashley has had all his money back and many times more and the TV money or popularity is waning, knowing that he won’t be able to sell us for more than imo 100M that he’ll sell every saleable asset from the playing squad and wait for a reasonable offer, it won’t matter one iota to him as we drop down the divisions as he’s already had us to the cleaners and back.

The issue as far as Rangers is concerned is the absence of any medicals before the loan deals were signed. According to the current Gers management Ferguson has yet to appear in Glasgow. Looks like a scam perpetrated by that nice Mr Llambias
