Newcastle After Highly Rated Young Spanish Striker

Newcastle United are being linked today with 21 year-old Spanish striker Juanmi Jimenez who currently plays for Malaga, and has played for the very successful Spanish U19 team which won two European Championships in 2011 and 2012.

Juanmi Jimenez

Juanmi Jimenez – 21 year-old Malaga striker

Jimenez has come through Malaga’s Youth Academy and he made his first-team debut in January 2010 in a Copa del Rey away match against Getafe CF, and he scored in a 5-1 defeat for Malaga, and he was only 16 years old.

In September of the same year 17-year-old Juanmi started at Real Zaragoza, and scored two goals to become the youngest player to score two goals in one game.

And Juanmi has now played 89 times for Malaga with 20 goals and 6 assists and that’s a good record for one so young.

The news is being  reported today in an exclusively on TuttoMercatoWeb.

Juanmi has played for the Spanish U17, U18 and U19 sides and he was in the Spain side won two consecutive UEFA European Under-19 Championships, scoring two goals in the 2011 tournament in Romania.

This month he was called up to the senior Spanish national team for the first time by coach Vicente del Bosque, after Diego Costa withdrew with a hamstring injury, and he was on the bench in Spain’s 1-0 home win over Ukraine on Friday.

Spain’s next game is against Holland on Tuesday night, and he may even gain his first full Spanish cap then.

Newcastle have concentrated on scouting Spanish players this year, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if Newcastle were after Jimenez, who looks a very good young player and will only improve at Newcastle in the Premier league.

The player is not tall at only 5’6″,  but he fits the Newcastle mold perfectly, and is a young player who has good technical skills and can improve on Tyneside, and he could be  similar to Newcastle’s signing of Ayoze Perez last summer.

The 21 year-old is right footed and has a contract with Malaga through June of 2018, and he would probably cost around £3M.

Ayoze has been a big success and has come on in leaps and bounds this season and has scored 5 goals in the Premier League.

Juanmi Jimenez looks like he could be a good buy for Newcastle United.

What do you think?

Excellent, well done and as I had thought that Perez had taken the most shots. He always looks like he can make space and time for himself to take a shot. And does ! As goals per transfer price he must be the leader in the Premier League.

I was surprised about Riviere but not about Janmaat.

Perez and Janmaat have been the two outstanding players this season. I would pick Perez as player of the season as he probably had the biggest league step up whereas Janmaat was already a full international.

    Thanks again for the stats.

    Juanmi Jimenez?

Any relation to another Jimenez who’s had his grubby paws into the Club?

I always get nervous when we get linked with any players Bernd Schuster brought on. One of the Spanish kids we were linked with earlier in the year is another Schuster protege.
He is desperate to coach in the PL . We were linked with Schuster in January . I don’t think he would suit NUFC at all.

I’d be interested how many of those shots from Slazzer’s post were on target.

At 5’6″ Jimenez is only 2″ shorter than Beardsley and good things can come in little bundles.

    On target:
    Perez 18 + 2 hit the post
    Cisse 18
    Sissoko 11 +1
    Cabella 8

The rest is either off target, on the post, or blocked shots. Most players have about 50/50 ratio on blocked vs off targets. Cabella has more shots blocked than off target unlike the other players.

On Ian Toon/carl/pushy/John Irving/catchys pet lip,
It is very wrong how he accuses Mister Tuff of making an apology to Reyantoon when the guy actually said that he had changed his name from Ethiotoon so another blatant lie.
He’s been caught out so many times I honestly don’t know why he doesn’t get a new user name ans stick to it.

jail – forgot about that – re Reyantoon declaring he had changed his name in one of his posts.
I think also that your Raj name was clearly a joke to most -as it used all the JFA letters and we were probably all not that quick to spot it.
Hopefully todays events puts an end to all these distractions and the blog can unite to a greater degree – not meaning a ban on what some folk think but a good/better forum for debate and a bit of fun at the same time.

    Mister Tuff,
Raj of Hailsley is a direct anagram of JfA and the ain’t ‘alf hot mum dialogue was a clear indication that it was a joke, the fact that Ian Toon used that against me as a multiple poster is a clear indication he is clutching at straws, bettter be careful what I ssy though I don’t want BandB on my case.

Been off for a while as I really couldn’t be bothered with the latest installments of laurel and hardy and the Ashley apologetics plus not much NUFC things to discuss at the moment it’s all been done to death.

Hope everyone is doing fine. How’s the baby doing Jesperlemon? Speaking better Danish than Iantoon I bet mate 😉

On the multiple poster debacle (and one of the reasons why I couldn’t be bothered tbh)

What I don’t get about Ian toon/Mr multiple is he comes on all bluster and bravado calling others out (incorrectly regarding the Ethiotoon/reyantoon as he admitted he’d changed his name) then fails to answer a single question when asked directly or is accused of telling porkies. It makes him look even more guilty than most know he already is.

The Jesperlemon-gate for example. He got caught in a lie by a native Dane but proceeded to keep lying saying it was a colleague (load of tosh) then said “if you don’t answer whilst I’m around then it’s finished” excellent defending of your own corner that.

I think I’d rather believe a person who speaks that particular tongue than a serial maker up of fairy tales.

Same with the Ibiza episode. Missing the point entirely then rambling on about something completely different.

You got caught man. Just admit it for once! It takes a special kind of billy to continue the facade. Perhaps he’s been asking his beloved for advice in those sordid love letters. That would explain an awful lot.

    My tuppence worth anyway.

Oh and just our luck that fletcher hits a bit of form for Scotland – the week before we play them. He’s done nowt all season yet usually plays well against us, as most of them do actually.

I think we might turn them over but it depends on what Newcastle team turns up I suppose. Us v Arsenal first half or us v Arsenal second half. Hope it’s the latter but we put the chances away this time. Definitely due a win against the unwashed.

Fine, Ed. But I can’t help asking, in what way does a lightweight, short-arse Spanish kid with excellent technical skills ‘fit the Newcastle mold perfectly’? You also say he can improve on Tyneside. Well, I suppose we can always fatten him up as he already has the skills. Thank goodness he’s not a big fat bruiser looking to pick up technical skills or he’d have no chance.
When you say he fits the mold, I presume you mean he is cheap, he has never heard of Mashley, Charnley or Cardew, he hasn’t had a recent conversation with Gutierrez or Tiote or Santon’s girlfriend and no decent club wants him ahead of us? I can see how that would fit, alright.

Anyway, we should go for Luan Vieira now. If we can’t get work permit then loan him out until he gets pick for their national team.
