Another Top Youngster Could Leave Newcastle This Summer

Surprising news today that 18 year-old goalkeeper England Youth goalkeeper Freddie Woodman is wanted by both Arsenal and Southampton in the summer.

Soccer - International Friendly - England U17s v Italy U17s - Pirelli Stadium

Freddie Woodman – 18 year-old Newcastle goalkeeper

Freddie has been a star of the England Youth sides over the last couple of years, and has been on the bench at Newcastle this season, and is very highly thought of on Tyneside.

And maybe that’s one reason Newcastle may be willing to move out Tim Krul in the summer, so that Freddie can be persuaded to stay on Tyneside.

If that happens Freddie would have the chance of being the number one goalkeeper at Newcastle  in a  year or two.

Certainly Freddie is a very talented goalkeeper with a great temperament,  and he looks a potentially great goalkeeper of the future, and he’s a player we shouldn’t be selling for £1M to either Arsenal or the Saints.

Woodman will likely be playing for the England’s U-19 side tonight against France in the European Under-19 Championship qualifier, and he’s also very highly rated at St. George’s Park.

Hopefully Mike Ashley will stop selling our top players, and that also goes for our top young players coming through the ranks – and that definitely includes Freddie Woodman.

We need to keep this lad on Tyneside.

What do you think?

Ed…If he’s a top youngser, surely it’s no surpirse teams are looking at him?

Jesper…I’m all caught up on It’s Always Sunny. Still haven’t managed to get in to Parks tbh.

If this kid is so good how come that other goalie who (to put it mildly) wasn’t very good got in ahead of him?

We do need a summer clearance. Things are looking up: we have money (Ed, leave the amateur accounting for the bloggers, mate); we got rid of that inept one (and scum, if Jonas story holds); we have some excellent players and some very good young prospects.

With a good and humane (listening AP?) coach, we should be in the top 6 next year. And, even more important, playing football.

What’s this talk of bloodhounds on the blog.
Very interesting. The bloodhound is a fine animal from it’s original origins, it has become a world famous hound with the ability to follow trails better than most other dogs. It has evolved into an animal used to follow the scent of humans. Law enforcement uses it to track criminals, including tricksters and fraudsters. I have to say a fine animal in locating a scent and then flushing out it’s quarry.
High five to the bloodhound. Seems a couple of tricksters have been flushed out today on the blog. High five – multiples out.

    Magscar,
I don’t think I misinterpreted what you said at all, you cited that this particular crossroads, unlike the many other crossroads we have had before each window was the fact that Pardew was gone and this might prompt extra spending. I think it’s foolish to suggest that Ashley was regretting giving Pardew the long contract as he was doing the perfect job in Ashleys eyes, the fact that his leaving took them by complete surprise shows they had no intention of getting rid of him in a hurry.

Think that last summer was too early to get rid as not ready for a big spend. CP did his job for him albeit unexpectedly for all.

Wasn’t meaning that Pardew’s exit in itself was the spur for a change more that things falling into place for a change IF Ashley is so inclined.

Quick response as fuel tariffs are plaguing my life at moment 🙂

All this speculation of players leaving and around 60mil available for transfers is ridiculous, yes some will be moved out and in but no massive clear outs as for large amounts of money available, I don’t think so, it’s MA we’re talking about. He’ll spend enough to keep us up.
Expect more budget football next season and you’ll not be too disappointed.

It’s statement like this “It is McClaren’s relationship with United’s chief scout Graham Carr – in essence, the club’s director of football – which is the driving force behind their move for the 53-year-old” that just makes be shake my head!

…there are absolutely no empirical evidence only a hunch based on the “friendship card”!

With enough guessing eventually someone will get it right (somehow)

Yo/Jeff…so if McClaren won’t be unveiled next season you’ll say what???

Jeff…I haven’t read one single newspaper article that had something close to a fact or a empirical clue as to why they thought SM would become our next HC!

…a little bit more than that is required – it’s just a guessing game (maybe someone knows more than others, but we are just left with a hunch)

I will likely say “oops lolz my bads y’all but woo hoo carver for another year”

Haha but I do really believe what I said above. As for him having a relationship with Carr, he does McClaren is the reason we got Tiote and Ashley is one to give jobs to people he knows, atleast when NUFC is involved. I think its fairly nailed on

    All
Similarities to Jimmy Magpie have to be coincidental as I am not him. Can’t say whether or not our views styles are similar as whilst i recall him ( and his frequent departures for his treatments) I regret I don’t remember his viewpoints particularly. No disrespect to a poster who I firmly believe has passed away as I can’t see anyone going to those lengths to divest themselves of a blog persona

Some seem to pay lot more attention to things than I do.

On that note Mr Tuff you need to get a life and stop your search for these multiples that are plaguing your life and springing up every day. Thanks for the OED on bloodhounds – good to know that I didn’t just pluck something out of the air and it made some kind of sense.

Perhaps the SETI project can make use of your paranoia and laptop in their search for habitable planets much better use of your time and may even benefit mankind. Having said that I don’t think you’re identifying little green men who also post on here from their flying saucers under various guises will be welcome.

Jesper…I will try season two then!

Magscar…Don’t you just hate it when that happens? You spend ages on a post just for it to dissapear! It only ever happens on long posts too.

You are right, so far attempts have not been successful. Early on there were signs of it, but the crowd accepted that and have since hidden in their shells. Actually, what happened was that 5th placed season and a lot of reasonable feel good factor came about. It bought him a lot of time, a purchase he is still dining out on imo.

Information is power. The blog is a great place to discuss ideas and opinions, it is also no doubt, a place used to garner support. It is to be expected there are clashes on blogs.

I suppose then, you can probably understand why someone who wants change, would find someone who comes on the blog and says “i’ve tried it in the past, all we can do (in my experience) is sit it out and wait – there’s nothing we can do” as extremely unhelpful. Almost destructive.

Anyway, thanks for the second response after the first one vanished.

Its all speculation at this point but I think he is far more believable than the other names than everyone keeps posting, Ashley wont go foreign for me and he will employ someone he knows

As for Carr am not suggesting hes doing anything questionable but hes very close to Ashley and has his ear so if he rates McClaren which I dont see why he wouldnt with him being a good manager

He also fits the bill of being someone who is looking to prove himself again after being highly rated then falling from grace…hes Pardew with better coaching and less sackings for….well lets just say none footballing reasons
