We shouldn’t really call Harris Vuckic a youngster now since he’s 22 and turns 23 in August, but it’s good to see Haris doing well at Rangers FC, and he’s helped them by scoring some crucial goals.
Haris Vuckic – has done well for Rangers
Last Sunday Rangers beat Championship leaders Hearts 2-1, and Vuckic scored after 38 minutes to put the home side 2-0 up, and the win puts Rangers back to second top of the league on 55 points, but they are still a massive 23 points behind Hearts, who have won the Championship and automatic promotion.
But new manager Stuart McCall seems to be having an impact now, and they are on a three game winning run, and it’s good to be in form before the play-offs.
Haris has shone in Scotland – maybe because he’s playing regular football – and we could have done with him at Newcastle to help us out – since we are having big trouble scoring goals.
There has been news in the Scottish Press in the last day or two that Haris wants to join Rangers full time – but he still has a year left on his contract and we would hope Vuckic is given a chance in pre-season.
This is what Haris has said about his future today:
“It’s not true that I’m going to quit Newcastle and stay at Ibrox. What I have always said that I respect both clubs – Newcastle because I still have a contract with them and Rangers because I have a loan deal here.”
“We will see what is going to happen in the summer but Newcastle have to say what options I have.” “I will choose the best one for me.” “If Newcastle let me go, would I like to stay at Rangers? That would be a good option for me.”
“At Newcastle, I didn’t have the chance to play first-team football. When I signed for Rangers I got that experience. I’m playing every week and scoring goals.” “If I can do that next season that would be a great option for me.”
“I like the feel of Rangers. Every player doesn’t want to just train on the training ground, they want to be recognised in the games and score goals. They want to be recognised in the city.”
“At Newcastle I was playing U-21 level which is not really my level. I feel I’m above that. I want to play first-team. I want to play with the men, not the kids.” “I want to be recognized if I do well and score goals – that’s what players want.”
Newcastle are still not ready to give these lads a chance in the side, and John Carver is one who has said some of our other youngsters at Newcastle are not ready for the first team.
Well they’ll never be ready if they aren’t given a chance in the first team.
Haris came to Newcastle as a 16 year-old and recognized as one of the best players at his age in Europe back in January, 2009.
But his tremendous promise hasn’t been fulfilled mainly due to a number of injuries, but he has wonderful skills and seems to have bulked up physically, and playing in the Scottish Championship will have toughened him up – maybe exactly what he needed.
We do hope that Newcastle will give him a chance and not just allow him to leave in the summer – as a number of other players – both young and old – will definitely be shipped out, after another woeful season on Tyneside.
Haris has appeared 10 times for Rangers and has scored six goals – and we are hoping he can help get them promotion via the play-offs and then Rangers will be back where they rightfully belong.
Then they can strengthen their squad in the summer and hopefully be good enough immediately to challenge for the Scottish Premier League title again.
And if they are promoted we’ll see what happens then – and certainly one possibility is that Vuckic could join Rangers full time – but we’d like Haris to be given a chance in Newcastle’s pre-season first – a real chance to show what he can do.
Maybe one reason for our failure to bring youngsters through to the first team is that we just haven’t given a lot of them a chance?
Finally, Haris has played 19 times for the Newcastle first team with one goal.
What do you think?

hmm not sure on that tbh ! rangers have looked poor to me and vukic is running rings around them with his passing vision and strength (everything we are missing imo)
i think we are rating our players far too high when we have very little who deserve to be playing even mid table footy !
i’ll even point out one of our if not our main performer perez ! the lad is far far too lightweight with not the power or accuracy in his shots or of the knowledge of how to get into the best positions (not calling the lad as i think he will become a great player n the future and all it will take is experience and chances to score) but because of our lack of quality players he’s looked far better than he actually is.
the only real quality we have are janmaat/cisse/siem/krul/cabella/rolando/sissoko.
and even sissoko has a ton of faults but his strength and speed are great additions.
the rest are avg at best and a fair few not even prem quality or still young and learning how to play.
next season lescalles will come into cb and will look like we have a bargain for the price ! he will only be avg but we are so bad he will look like woodgate.

Some very good points mate.
When a player looks lethargic you could say he is having an off day, but when a whole team look lethargic week in week out their has to be something going on behind the scenes.
Not one player showing any desire (sorry maybe Jonas), not one player wanting to lead the team, forward attacking play switched to back passes instead of crosses.
I still think poor Vukic would get nothing from this team. He may play well but then he would be the only one doing so.
I really think the players have just packed in because of lack of investment in January, there was just nothing to give the team a lift.

Yep. having said that, I thought there was a good balance in the Hull game (Pardew out protest). The walkout was to a degree a damb squib, certainly not a mass walkout. However
lots of folks gave Pardew pelters and he stayed in the dugout. Also, the atmosphere was actually better than previous weeks and we cheered on the team. The players picked up on it and responded.
It showed that under some circumstances that you can back the team and not the regime. If supporters want change, they’re going to have to do that more often.

Exactly half a dozen decent players doesn’t make a squad. Far too many expect to much, blame Carver and expect top eight. NO chance we totally lack quality in every area.

Comment #88We all know the clubs proprieties, the EPL. Imagine what it’s like for our players if it’s true that they aren’t picked when fit for cup games.
Then no investment in January only more squad weakening and no new coach because the people at the top think we’ll be ok and want to save cash.
So they want the players to graft their arses off with no chance of realising their proffesonal goals of winning cups and playing in Europe.
Is it any wonder they want away or don’t fancy it here?
How proffesonal would you be in a similar situation?
Stepping stone? Looks more like a dead end.

Exactly that, and now Janmaat has to plat at CB when we all know he would be much happier playing RB and attacking down the wing.
He, and the rest of the squad cannot be happy about the lack of investment when it was so direly needed.
The stupidity of the club laid bare for all the world to see.

Sorry to have snarked you. I don’t snark just anybody.
As I said earlier, if you are not against us you are for us. In whatever way you can manage. People like you will make the difference in the end.
I apologise.

Comment #93I support the AO campaign but I wonder if it has been fully thought out. Suppose they succeed and Ashley wants out but nobody wants to buy what then? He could demand his loan back and force the club into liquidation for pure spite!

None can be very happy, being asked to play in 5 diffetent positions isn’t really going to help you get a international call up either. Or the fact the current manager doesn’t know what qualities or capabilities you have despite coaching you for 4 years.
You couldn’t make it up.

He could do a lot of things, but with the amount of money in the premiership to be had liquidating the club would be difficult.
Also there may be other things that would stop him from doing so.
At the right (honest) price he should have no problems selling it.
He never had any intentions of selling the club in the past, that was all just smoke and mirrors to get the fans off his back, and it worked.
He had his asking price met several time, but he just did not want to sell, this time if forced it could be different, he may not have a choice.

Simple really. I go to watch a game of football. 11 blokes vs 11. Not any team, or one I can watch at a press of a button on a TV remote. My team, a very special one to me ever since I was a small kid. Call it my birthright. The rest is flim flam. Haven’t ever shopped at SD and seeing those ads around the pitch hasn’t changed mind – so haven’t got a clue about what they’re about. maybe some folks fall for that sort of guff.
Didn’t like it when McKeag ran the club, or Westwood – equally despicable as anything Ashley could be. So I’ve got form when it comes to backing the team and not the regime. I was there before MA came and I’ll be there long after he has gone.
The money from my season ticket, mostly goes into players pockets and I’m currently as hacked with them as I am with the owner. Although all roads at some point lead back to him, he isn’t the one playing like a right fanny and not being @rsed to try his very best.

Which game though? One which some nameless person who runs a website decides.
As a gesture there are a group of us who are maybe looking to move seats this year, to be closer to Ashley and the prawn sarny brigade, providing, as now, we can get a block together. Then we can makes ourselves seen and heard (staying within the law of course). We’ll also still get to see the game. that can’t be sorted until end of season.
I got some flak for saying this on here from Jesper, who may never have been to a match in his life even in Denmark or wherever he’s from. I have no compunction in having the chance to upgrade my seat if somebody gives up theirs. the way it is now, as it always has been.
The only effective protest is one which can be seen. Staying away is one – but then I don’t get chance to cheer on the team. A visible protest in the ground just as effective and can be carried out each week – whilst still cheering the team on. Trust me if you were at the Hull game, you would have got it. The players did, so did Pardew who hid in the dug out.
Since then the buggers have packed their flip flops irrespective of what Carver says.
