John Carver says he is getting the very best out of the players he has available at Newcastle, and that’s even though we have lost the last five games and taken only 9 points out of a possible 39 points available in the league this season, and we’ve dropped four places in the league since the start of the year, and a certain Crystal Palace have gained 17 points on us this season.
Their coach must be some coach.
😀
John Carver – I’ve getting the best out of the players available
Newcastle fans are angry at many things at the moment – but mainly with Mike Ashley – who again took the easy and cheap option – by appointing John as the interim head coach through the end of the season – even though he has only limited experience as a head coach.
Newcastle have had no luck with injuries and suspensions have helped to decimate the squad, so it’s not like we are helping ourselves much either.
This is what John has said today about Newcastle this year:
“We’ve had setbacks, but you have got to deal with setbacks.” “It would be interesting to see if any manager or head coach has had this sort of situation in their career.”
“It has been difficult, the facts are there. I’m not a moaner and not making excuses.” “It’s a test of management how you deal with it.” “I think I’m getting the best out of the group of players we have.”
“I’m enjoying it,” “You might think it’s strange to say that, but the hardest thing is to pick yourself up after a defeat because you take it personally.
“But we are professionals, and we have to get on with it.” “I’m quite a positive guy inside my head, and I know I can do the job. I just need the tools.”
We’ve never heard a coach talk about himself as much as John seems to do in these interviews, and he gives himself compliments, it all seems so strange – it’s not about John – it’s about Newcastle United.
What’s that saying we used to use when we were young “self praise is no recommendation.”
Being a top manager or coach in any football league is very tough, but particularly in the Premier League, with all the attention and media attention it gets around the world.
It’s a huge challenge for anybody in charge of a team, but managers get these types of challenges all the time – and they have to learn how to overcome the adversity and still get the results.
John is now tasting some of that pressure now, and while admittedly he hasn’t had many players to choose from, his record is still not good – with just two wins in the 14 games this year.
[table “33” not found /]But it’s hard to criticize John too much, because the man is working his socks off for the cause, and of course he’s doing his very best – it’s not his fault he’s been put in the position he’s in.
Let’s hope we can get a win on Sunday and then we should definitely be safe – that’s what the lads need to do on Sunday.
Comments welcome.
Note: Jamie Macdonald is a final year student at the University of Hull completing a degree in Business, and he’s been an avid Newcastle fan all his life, and to help him with his dissertation here is a questionnaire you can fill out and it takes just a couple of minutes.
The survey is about consumer attitudes towards Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) – and it only takes a minute or two to complete – thanks for your help.

Comment #242Intelligence has been defined in many different ways such as in terms of one’s capacity for logic, abstract thought, understanding, self-awareness, communication, learning, emotional knowledge, memory, planning, creativity and problem solving. It can also be more generally described as the ability to perceive and/or retain knowledge or information and apply it to itself or other instances of knowledge or information creating referable understanding models of any size, density, or complexity, due to any conscious or subconscious imposed will or instruction to do so.
Intelligence is most widely studied in humans, but has also been observed in non-human animals and in plants. Artificial intelligence is intelligence in machines (i.e. software).
Within the discipline of psychology, various approaches to human intelligence have been adopted. The psychometric approach is especially familiar to the general public, as well as being the most researched and by far the most widely used in practical settings.[1]

Don’t be discouraged. You can only make it better.

Comment #244We all know that Ed does not support the boycott, and that is fine. He expresses his desire to be rid of Ashley every day. I would like to see one of his polls though, asking readers if they support the boycott. The vocal numbers on here certainly do, but we know there is a silent majority who don’t post. Be good to gauge their views as well.
So how about it Ed? A poll asking who supports the boycott?

Calling it the NUFC “Daily” may have been a poor choice mind you…haha
I’ve a really good ad blocker on my browser so I don’t get the ads so that’s not a problem. My issue is that Ed rarely takes a stand on issues. It is his right to sit on the fence, it’d be nice to hear his views more clearly.

I think the fumes of the BS that comes out of his mouth have killed off any of the brain cells he ever had.

Comment #248I think I’ve figured out why I’ve not been getting a response to my “How are those who are going to the Spurs game feeling about the idea of protests?” question.
How are those who are boycotting the game agianst spurs feeling about the protests?

Increasingly positive would be my response. Sincerely hope that we get boots on the ground on Sunday to encourage disaffected fans that we can be united as a fanbase, that we don’t need to let Ashley divide us any longer. The support that we’re not getting from the club can be found in each other.

Comment #258Tequila…Cheers. Good to have you posting more frequently again. Not sure we can say the same about the next one on my list.
Ciaran…You must love rocking up, just for us all to take the p*ss! 🙂 One might argue you have a sick side.
I’m trying to keep things in perspecitve, as I do think this is another start, but it still has more to run. This Sunday doesn’t define or decide anything as far as I am concerned, however, I do feel a huge change in mood from previous protests. A lot less hostility, more understanding, a definite feeling of unity. Some genius Ashley is. It had to happen at some stage, people can only take so much.
OP…I’ll be looking out for you and your “party party party” in pictures and videos that will no doubt get posted 🙂

From these ruffians? I can handle these small fry chest puffers 😉
I think you’re right with regards the change in mentality. I think the boycotts will be well attended i.e. the target in my head will be met, and that in turn should sharpen perspectives. Hopefully, if these one off boycotters go back to SJP following on from Sunday, they’ll be more willing to actively make their voices heard in the ground and radicalise those who have yet to take the plunge.
I said it in the video, but the biggest crime of Ashley’s era is the way he’s divided us. Hopefully this is the start of the rebuilding of fractured relationships in our fan base.

Comment #262Belfast…I just figured, seeing as you’ve decided to bring the venga bus and policeman gag out of retirement, I’d get back to some of my spelling and grammer correcting ways 🙂
That’s not multi-tasking, it’s not using a comma.
Now, the only useful thing you taught me on here, P*SS OFF 🙂
Still pining for Tsunki? Has he not sent you any secret messages? The heartless so and so. Never thought he’d leave you hanging like this.
Ciaran…Totally agree. On the numbers, I am confident, but don’t allow the set number in your head to allow you to become disheartened.
It’s all steps. As has been said, If you’re not against us, you’re with us. There are a lot less against you these days.
When I say you, I mean protests, clearly not you personally, small fry chest puffer 🙂
