Newcastle Lose Again – Beaten 3-1 By Tottenham

Newcastle were beaten for the sixth time in a row this afternoon at St. James’ Park – this time by Spurs by a score of 3-1 – and it equaled a record we had set almost exactly a year ago,  and we remain 7th bottom of the league 7 points above the drop zone with 5 games to play.

Christian Eriksen celebrates scoring Spurs’ first goal

Tottenham went ahead after 30 minutes with midfielder Chadli running through towards the penalty area, and he hit a left foot shot into the back of the net, and there were some questions as to whether Tim Krul was unsighted, but he should have done better.

After a drab first half in front of a quiet and somber Newcastle crowd, and in which Tottenham had 64% of the possession, John Carver had to do something and he brought on Sammy Ameobi and Gabby Obertan for Mehdi Abeid and Yoan Gouffran.

Colback scored with 19 seconds of the restart, much as Sammy Ameobi had scored at Tottenham after just 7 seconds of the restart and Newcastle were back in this game.

The ball was played down the right and Perez pulled it back and Jack Colback planted the ball into the back of the net for only our second goal in the last six games.

But then after 53 minutes Newcastle conceded another very poor goal from a free kick when Christian Eriksen curled the ball into the box and it evaded everybody, including Tim Krul in the Newcastle goal, and Spurs had retained the lead after being level only 7 minutes.

And then in stoppage time, with Newcastle pushing for the equalizer Spurs broke away, and it was Harry Kane who scored Spurs 3rd goal to make it 3-1 and that was the final result.

Newcastle have taken 9 points from the last 14 league games and out goal difference has taken a -14 hit in those games – that’s equivalent to a 24 point full season of 38 games.

We are the worst performing side in the Premier League at the moment,  and somehow this thing has to be turned around – and soon.

The crowd was 47,427 – so 5,000 stayed away in protest – much less than the 16,000 forecast.

We’ll have a fuller report of the game out soon.

I find it hard to understand the people who attended the game just sitting there letting it wash over them. If you had to go in, lets hear some disgruntled chanting at the very least FFS? 3.1 against an out of form team who have had their flip flops ready for action for a few weeks already. Carvers record is going from terrible to worse. Could end up the worst manager in our history.

Get rid of Carver now and ask the tea lady to take over – oh no she’s gone as well
Carver the only coach in the world who can try to give away a 1-2 loss and succeed

Carver is being paid peanuts and as long as Ashley gets the TV money do you think he cares about our league position?

If you offer Ashley EPL survival on goal difference for the next 20 years he’d snap your hand off

Carver will come out and will state

    1. We just need to stick together
    2. We have a couple of players coming back
    3. I saw signs today we can get goals
    4. I will have them ready for the next game

It will be the text book response

    It should be

    1. What do people expect when we constantly weaken the team for money
    2. The owner has no intentions to do anything and I am merely the stop gap until the next mug comes along

I wish he would make the biggest statement. …

Until a buyer comes in and gets rid of this leech we will do nothing.

My money is on the first list.
Not blaming Carver, god knows who we would have had if he hadn’t taken it.

Carragher making some sense, well said fella

The point being carver has shown very little difference to what’s gone before. It’s still negative, containing BORING rubbish.

    Carragher talking sense for once.

Another gutless performance. Absolutely shocking. I’ve always maintained we wouldn’t go down. Not sure now.I actually watched the cup semi final and the difference Sherwood has made to Villa is astonishing. Watched the 2nd half of the match and it was a stroll for Spurs.

This personal quest you are on against Colo is bordering on insanity.

who else do we have to replace him?
If they are not out injured they are just as bad quality wise, there are far bigger issues at the club than your on going bromance with Colo

our problems go way beyond Colo who should have been let go a year ago. playing at home we had 35% possession!!!! That is appalling tactics in anyone’s books.
