John Carver has equaled the six game losing streak he helped to set last year at this time, when he was the touchline manager after Alan Pardew had been banned for seven games, and Newcastle for the first time ever in the Premier League lost six games in a row.
John Carver – very poor record at Newcastle
And since John Carver was given the head coach job through the end of the season, he is now on another six game losing streak, we have lost seven of the last eight games, and Newcastle have taken only 9 points from the 42 available this year,
Newcastle have won only two games of the 15 games played this year – and we are now in a relegation struggle after being 9th top after 19 games with 26 points, when John took over at the start of the year.
With other Premier League clubs that would just not be good enough, but at Newcastle we are told the top brass are impressed with John, and he is in line to be the head coach of the club at the end of May.
Go figure.
Newcastle are in danger of setting a new record against Swansea on Saturday of seven defeats in a row in the Premier League.
We hope that doesn’t happen.

Comment #1Sorry Ed’s too quick:
Can someone help me out with something: When Ashley took over the club did he not tell us that he would back Newcastle to the tune of £20 million a season of his own money? Maybe I’m getting that wrong but it sounds familiar. If that is the case and we’ve just turned an £18 million profit, where does his money come in?
I guess my really question is this: If you were a multi-billionaire and you bought a football club would you not want to enjoy the experience? Because it doesn’t seem to me that Ashley does enjoy it AT ALL. For the record Mr. Ashley there are quicker, more profitable ways of making money than owning a football club yet here we sit in a stalemate, you hate us, we hate you and we’re both sitting here miserable. If you can’t find a buyer why not float the club on the market? Set your share asking price and slowing begin to sell it off. People will buy shares in this club, you’d be surprised at how quickly they’re snapped up.

Comment #2@SS – Ashley changed his tune quite quickly and once we were relegated he basically just increased the debt owed to him! Ashley has at no time given Newcastle money, he’s loaned money to us and took free advertising as interest

Comment #3SuperShearer – you are indeed correct about Mr Tubbs stating he was going to bankroll the club with his own money to the tune of £20 a year.
However, after the alleged, threats to kill or attack him and his family, (stress alleged as at the time it was reported the cops knew nothing about it) he issued a statement saying he was no longer going to do it.
The statement is online dated 2008 if I remember correctly.

Looking back, he came in and made loads of promises and got a lot of fans onside. He had no intention of honouring these promises in his quest to turn us into a billboard so he hired then engineered a fall out with KK to give him the perfect excuse to renege on his word when the fans kicked off as he knew they would.

Comment #6SuperShearer @1 – Incidentally I’m not defending Ashley but I think he started full of good intentions (like anybody with a new toy) sitting in the crowd etc. It all seemed to turn sour, after Keegan, when some nuggets threatened him and his family – I sometimes wonder if things would have been different if that hadn’t happened – probably not he would have got bored anyway.

Comment #7So JC and SM are the top candidates out the 90 applications, my arse.
It took Ashley 90seconds to say fcuk you and give Carver the job.
As for players leaving I’m not fussed 90% are just shite or cowards. People shouldn’t be more worried about players leaving they should be worried about the fans leaving.
The worm has turned, the club should be doing everything they can to get us onside, but hey do nowt is their MO.
Charver Charnley are judas plain and simple anything for a few quid, they should be embarrassed especially JC.
The attitude of wait and see has got us here in the position the club now sees itself, what are you waiting for Ashley to wipe his arse on the club crest?
He’s already pissed all over it!
A fool and his money are easily parted.
The bloke being shown around the ground was Small World choosing his new seat, it’s the fans with his attitude that’s making this struggle harder. Him and no marks like Blackley who know what’s wrong but sit on their arses bitching at fans who want change.
When the club implodes due to there apathy they’ll be wiping their tears away with a wonga top whilst Ashley spins there season ticket money on a roulette table laughing his fat mans tits off.
Fcuk Ashley fcuk carver and fcuk that baldy bitch Charnley.

Comment #8dreading the Swansea game, i can see us playing better (which isn’t exactly hard to do after recent performances) but Swansea will hit us on the counter. Not sure if Montero is fit but his pace could give Janmaat a real test, Dyer and Routledge too, with the latter tending to play well against us since he left.
Funny to think Routledge would walk into our side thesedays!
Hopefully Carver tries Riviere and Perez as a front two. Stick Ferrerya on the bench and throw him on for 20-30mins. I think he’ll be like L.De Jong, he’ll end up in Holland and look like a quality player again.

Totally agree with that.
These supposed mistakes are a well thought out strategy to get the club on it’s knees so he could do what he wanted and make it look like it was necessary.

Comment #11martoon…also from previous…I have to ask 🙂 Your personal reasons, is it fear of being attacked on here or simply because it’s no one elses business?
I sense you’re getting near the end of your patience with his running of the club. I’m not pushing you, but would that mean come next Feb, if things haven’t changed, you would cancel your ST?
I was often asked at what point Ibiza is enough enough? There was no real way to answer, it’s enough when it’s enough for each person 🙂
I suppose what I’m asking, is there a line where people say you can’t get away with this “support the team through thick and thin” anymore. The impression I get from some is that there is nothing Ashley could do that would stop them going.
Glad you support the campagin though. There is always some middle ground to be found, but something does need to be done.

In 1939 a group of German special forces soldiers blew up a train station inside Germany dressed as Polish partisans, the Polish government denied all knowledge of the attack before Germany used this as an excuse to invade.. Northumbria police received no reports of any threats to Mike Ashley proior to him releasing his last statement. Subterfuge is nothing new.

Does he really expect answers to be given at the SD AMG?
Didn’t reporters try that not that long ago and basically got similar answers that fans get at our “fan forum”?
It can’t work as Ashley simply will not allow proper communication. Even when they said they have changed that and that Lee would be doing so, they haven’t. After a while you have to come to the conclusion that they can’t or don’t want to. Neither is acceptable for me. No matter how much profit they boast. You can’t buy respect. Well, not from me anyway 🙂

Comment #18Players have all the power these days and rarely feel affinity to the club they play for – most want to earn as much money as they can and play at the highest level they can reach… I’ve no problem with players coming to toon to showcase themselves for a bigger team, it’s nothing new ( Cole – Arse- Chelsea, Nasri, Arse – Citeh, Suarez – Liverpool – Barca, Bale, Spurs … etc) it’s just sad that these days bigger teams include Southampton , Spurs – we’re now with the likes of Stoke, Crystal Palace as an attraction to players

Comment #20@ Martoon – after KK? Perhaps you have already forgotten about Verete, Jimenez and Wise?
The only truly accountable (and qualified) MD he appointed was Mort, and he packed in soon enough no doubt because he saw what was happening (though after being paid 1.26 million).
Ashley’s ownership has been a shambles from the day he arrived. His own meddling and appointments has led to the state of things.
He wasn’t threatened – he just said he was. It’s the same as the rubbish story about Pardew (being threatened on the street and in his car) – and Pardew himself has now said it never happened at all.
The money wasted on all of those idiots and the players they were responsible for, AND a relegation, are entirely Ashley’s fault.

Comment #21I have unearthed a prospective alternative for the post of NUFC head coach.
He knew Sir Bobby and was voted English footballer of the year 1980-81 and his manager at the time was Sir Bobby.
He is currently interim coach of Brisbane Roar with a win rate of 45.5%.
Did I mention he knew Sir Bobby?
His name is Frans Thijssen.
Did I mention he was fired by Malmo FF after two years in 1998 because they were almost relegated for the first time.
All together now
We want Frans we want Frans.
Did I mention he knew Sir Bobby?
He could be cheap.

If they’re planning on handing out leaflets again this weekend I think it would be a good idea to draw people attention to the tv show due to come on tv about SD secrets.
Maybe a banner or two or the details on the flyers. Just a idea but it may hurry our fans changing their minds and it will make other people takes look at his MO.

Comment #32Be amazed if they appoint Carver purely based on his time in the MLS! If people think his interviews atm are out there, at Toronto they were on another planet. He once blamed a ref giving a penalty against toronto because his physical image didn’t suit the MLS and the league wanted him to be sacked so were conspiring against him with the refs to cause him to lose games and be sacked….
Hes a car crash and bad publicity waiting to happen! If we want rid of him 5 minutes of the treatment pardew got at home to Cardiff would see him explode!

Comment #36Jayphoto…When you look at it, it’s amazing he was even given the chance.
His previous record has nothing in it to warrant the chance. There are thousands of Geordies, willing to work for less than youre standard football manager, I am sure. That shoudnt even be mentioned as a reason.
Then there was the incident with the fans last year when times got tough. Fans inside the stadium I should add.
We already had injuries, we had already had a bad run this season. It was pure lunacy to go with him in the first place.
With that in mind, I would find it hard to find it amazing if he kept the job beyond this season.
OP…Good idea. I refer to you Tuff at 33.

Comment #38@ibiza – Just think appointing Carver full time would be the straw that broke the camels back with a lot of fans.
I think he’s had poor luck with injuries and suspensions but all those bans were avoidable if there was any discipline at the club.
The problem for me is that even on bare bones there should be fight and heart. If we don’t have attacking players even conference teams can set out to be tough to beat for premier league teams and we’ve been so unorganised its unreal in our set up! All fall under carvers remit for me!
