Newcastle Make New Improved Offer To Get Star Player

Newcastle have an awful lot of work to do in the transfer market this summer,  if we are not going to be fighting relegation again next season, and there is news today that we are still trying to sign free agent Andre Ayew of Marseilles, who will leave the French club in the summer.

Andre Ayew – Newcastle have made new offer

There was new earlier in the year that we had made the player a big offer to the Ghanaian International said to be £30K/week tax-free, plus a signing on bonus of around £2M, but there are bigger and/or more ambitious clubs than Newcastle after the player, and in England they include Liverpool, Everton and Swansea.

Liverpool have always been the club Andre wanted to join, but the news has not been too convincing that Liverpool really want the player this summer, otherwise surely they could have already made the deal with the 25 year-old winger/striker.

Andre has called a move to Liverpool his dream move.

The new news is that Newcastle seem desperate to sign the Ghana International, given all the problems Newcastle have had this year and this season in the running of the club, and now we are said to be willing to offer him an improved four year deal.

The news two weeks ago was that a number of clubs had already made offers to his agents and they included Roma, Wolfsburg, Borussia Dortmund and Napoli, as well as the English clubs, and that he would make a decision towards the end of the season, as to which club he would join.

Newcastle need to sign a good player very quickly this summer, in an attempt to raise the severely downcast mood on Tyneside, after another terrible season under frugal owner Mike Ashley, and it wouldn’t surprise us if we have offered the player a new improved deal.

But such is the falling from grace of Newcastle United under Mike Ashley over the years, that signing this player would seem to be beyond us, although the reports suggest Newcastle are still in with some chance.

We’ll see.

Comments welcome.

If the signings of Rivi and Perez last summer aren’t a great advert for spending less then I don’t know what is! Less is more I’ve been told (Admittedly never really grasped that concept)

Lil…Well, they do bring a certain minimilistac edge to the squad.. Less is more, everyone knows that.

    It’s all about being subtle.

Oh wait, this is a football team?

On thread…Is £30k a week a decent wage offer for a player like Ayew…who is a free agent?

I wonder what the improved offer is? £32k plus 20 free tickets for freinds and family a week….as I understand it they’ve started giving the things away!

Those ticket could be flogged for a tenner each! £200 a month ain’t too bad.

hibbit….Even Carver has said the same. He should be out on loan. Wasn’t it Cisses fault though? If only he hadn’t of done it!

yes in the good old days it was incompetence by P45 to pick jonas. but not because of effort from the guy, more down to the position he was played in , a 3rd DMC , not as a winger or LB/RB,

if you want to go back even further, I hold jonas in very high regard, our best player for a number of seasons , and for this he will always be a great to me.

for the spurs game, he should have been in the first team ahead of goofy and obertan , all 3 offer very little threat now , 1 never has , but at least jonas puts effort in and you can see it means something to him.

Errr, how are we offering him a tax free wage? Surely the figure is after tax?

Not sure on the tax boundaries anymore, but that would be roughly £60k a week? Please correct me if that is wrong. Not a huge amount for an international player, but still better than he would get in a lot of places.

Don’t forget that the 30K per week is after tax at the (current) top marginal rate of 45%. That’s equivalent to over 50K per week gross.

Lil…Good spot, likely the figure after tax deducitons. Tax is pretty low in England though, right? 🙂

£60k? Well, that’s a bit too much, times it by the sqaure root of club spin and our £30m+ will be gone!

You’ve not replied. What’s wrong with the Aussie PM wanting all children to be innoculised? Seems like a laudable aim to me. Not something to be scoffed at surely? Good on the Christian heritage Aussies. That’s what I say.

You duck egg why mention Bamford when talking about Arma. We are not Chelsea – they could afford to send Lukaku out on loan for a couple of seasons ffs.

    Hibbit :Ibiza

I disagree , haha ( you know I would ) , but I think he offers more than obertan and goofy right now , I like that he chases everything down, when he gets the chance to shoot he does, I think giving him the chance to play up top with Perez now would transform our team , it would make other teams work harder as with only 1 up top we don’t carry a threat ,

charvers version of 442 with wingers is laughable , we don’t have the players for this , all they are is a second fullbacks with our only attacking treat coming from Janmaat.

    give the kids a chance

    hibbit…I was only playing 🙂

Lil…I sense a feeling of direction brewing amongst us all. It’s a thing of beauty. We will get that top goal scorer out of the club if its the last thing I do! 1 Cisse out, 2 Rivi’s in, there, now we have depth!

Catchy…Say what?!? Why break the habbit of a lifetime? 🙂

I’ve not really seen enough of him to make a proper judgement. What I do think, is based on the way he is being used, he’d be better off on loan getting regular football. Especially at his age.

Clearly he’s got talent, has done well within the England setup (mind, let’s not get in to the England team….), so I’ve not written him off by any stretch of the imagination.

I just think he’s being wasted here at the moment, due to poor decision making within the club.

I think the point Hibbit alludes to is that Arma would have had a much more productive and beneficial season had he been out on loan. Should we not have enough in the squad to cover a kids departure for a year? I think we should. Are the clubs aims so short sighted that they can’t help progress the kids career to our future benefit? It would appear so.

We have barely used him, he would have been far better at Ipswich who allegedly wanted him on loan back in August than the handful of appearances he made here.

It is largely irrelevant if he does well, as long as he plays – Kane was awful in most of his loan spells, Carroll had a stinker at Preston but both benefitted from the experience.

Catchy…As for Janmaat, given his stand out performances, I wouldn’t be surprised to hear the game plan is to stand 10 people on our line to defend and to try and let Janmaat do something the other end.

He’s been one of the good things about this season. Really LLLLLLike him as a player.

We only got fifth place because we had virtually no injuries that season and ba didn’t leave after we signed cisse. Shoe string budget soul destroying premier league safety garbage football devoid of passion … thanks mike ashley.
