Newcastle Tracking Top Young Playmaker

Newcastle were linked last summer with 20 year-old Inverness CT play-maker Ryan Christie, and the Tyneside club is again being linked with the player today.

Ryan Christie – Inverness 20 year-old play-maker

The attacking midfielder is said to be a target of several Premier League clubs and they include Newcastle United and Everton, and the fee being talked about is a low £1M to get him away from the Scottish club – although the youngster said in February he wanted to stay at Inverness.

Ryan has played 37 times this season with 4 goals and 3 assists, and he made his club debut in the Scottish Premier League match against Celtic in December, 2013 at age 18.

In total the attacking midfielder has appeared for Inverness 54 times with 7 goals and 3 assists since then.

He is the son of Charlie Christie, who was a top midfielder at the same club for ten years from 1994, and was manager of the club from 2006-2007.

Ryan was born in Inverness, and joined the Inverness Caledonian Thistle youth system as a youngster, and eventually made his debut for the club in the Scottish Premiership match against Celtic in late December of last year.

Inverness were 5th in the Scottish Premier league last season and they are currently in 3rd place this season.

It’s important that Newcastle sign these young players who have massive potential.

Newcastle are in with a decent chance of getting this 20 year-old in the summer.

Comments welcome.

we’re tracking players for the championship already then.

Carver and Penfold need replacing asap – sadly Ashley is not one for admitting mistakes but this could be a very expensive mistake

A Dictator of Football, he’s called Ashley.

No matter what stooge comes out and says he’s in control or even has a say in the matter IMO they’re full of shit.

Dictator Ashley and his 5yr plan

    A model for mediocrity!

    Fcuk Ashley and his stooges.

Apologies to the lad, Mactoon, if he did conduct himself so well, even if I do still doubt it. Some fans do have a tendency to deliver a moronic gobful and add further insult to injury by aiming in the wrong direction, Ive found.

An attacking midfielder who has played 37 times this season with 4 goals and 3 assists. No thanks. Stats don’t lie.

    Fair enough Jimmy.

From what I’ve read and seen this lad would have a lot to lose if he’d hurled abuse at Carver. It seems it’s ok the other way around though.

The only positive aspect of the situation is Ashleys face when we go down. When we go down we have to stay down. Only a decent stint in a lower league will get rid of Ashley. Bring it on. Stay away. I really want Carver to get the job permanently.

This sad state of affairs is consuming my life at the moment…. it is making me very angry.
I am becoming particularly vexed at the media for holding back…. holding back from confrontational journalism …. the fans need to taste blood … the combatants on the ground (Charnley & Carver) need to be exposed now… they are on the ropes … put them out of their misery.
There is power in the pen … use it for God’s sake. We can catch up with Ashley soon enough.

No, it’s clearly not ok, but he’s under immense pressure, having been put in charge of a depleted, too often disinterested and increasingly disaffected group of players and also I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t be starting any of it, nor responding as he supposedly did given the benefit of a little hindsight.

Whats the point of staying up and Carver or Brolly guy getting the job and spending peanuts? More misery for us and another 50 million for Mr Tubbs. Better to bite the bullet now and get relegated and stay relegated til the fat controller has gone. I welcome an extended tenure for Carver and relegation. I can see something massively positive coming out of a prolonged relegation. I see only continued misery staying in the Premiership.

What a mess! John Carver is in a difficult position, but if it’s true he offered fans outside and swore, then he should be removed immediately as stand in head coach. Swearing at customers in other walk of life would result in a sacking. But them again, we are the club that allowed P45DUE to headbutt someone.
