Two sides still below us in the league table Hull and Leicester will play their games in hand this week – Hull City entertain Liverpool tomorrow night and Leicester City play Chelsea on Wednesday night – and usually you would expect two away wins in those games, but it’s getting near the end of the season and there could be some shocks in store.
Siem de Jong – good time to return for the Dutch International
If both Leicester and Hull lose their games it will help Newcastle, but we are relying on other teams below us losing, rather than getting some points on the board to save ourselves.
If Leicester and Hull both win their games they will be one point behind Newcastle with much better goal differences, and it really will be a six pointer on Saturday at Leicester.
It’s been a really tough season for Siem de Jong, but he’s coming back into the team at a crucial part in the season, and his class and skill could be the difference in us surviving this season or taking the drop.
This is what Siem has said in the Chronicle today:
“We didn’t expect this at the start of the season.” “But we’re in it now and we need to keep our heads together.”
“I feel ready, I felt ready for 20 minutes against Swansea.” “I will probably get another full game in the Under-21s, then probably I will be ready to start, next week or the week after.”
“It’s difficult because I want to help the team as much as I can.” “We need to win at least one of the coming games, it’s different for me, but I will try to help the team as much as I can in the coming weeks.”
“Of course, we know how important it is, so we will focus on ourselves.” “We will try to be at our best to win the game and not focus too much on the situation.”
“We must focus on the game itself and ourselves to be in the best form we can.”
Lee Charnley and company put John Carver in charge for the rest of the season and it’s been nothing less than an unmitigated disaster, but they are also compounding the problem by sticking with him for the rest of the season.
And if John Carver loses the next four games – that would be eleven defeats in a row – and even Alan Shearer thinks that’s a possibility and Carver may also think it’s a good time to leave his home town club.
John may even join Alan Pardew at Crystal Palace – who seems to want to build a good team in London over the summer.

Comment #1Repost, reply on Shearer, big Ed woke up 🙂
Not so horrid colonial,
You are right, but he had no experience and he proceeded to get in an argument with Barton when he needed him:(quite funny that: ‘you are a sxxxe player’; reply: ‘and YOU are a sxxxe manager’).

Comment #4danny…I don’t believe that’s been announced yet. But rest assured, the matter is being dealt with in a serious manner…..
I believe minutes are always published, but only by the club….
As for “HWTF” – any chance you can drop the blog one of those on Saturday, near to KO, as a sign of solidarity to your fellow fans?

Comment #5p.s we will be safe on 39pts, jc will draw to west brom, beat west ham on last day of the season, he’ll be hailed a hero by his puppet masters and given an 8 year contact on a sell to buy transfer kitty which he’ll snap up and we’ll be 1-10 odds to go down next season…………..

Comment #12danny…Not an unlikely end to the season. Well, maybe the getting 4 points bit 🙂
Thanks by the way. Its a simple message, can’t understand why some are against the fans uniting? Bizarre to say the least.

Comment #14OP…Maybe you need to take your own tea bags and biscuits – the club is struggling to make ends meet. Did you not see all the players we got in last summer?
Don’t say “Where’s JC, we have a teabagging appointment” mind.

Comment #15Is it in the new players contract to have to come out with motivational speeches to the fans?
Or is a rolodex of standard responses to losing?

Comment #16ibiza, the fans will never be united as there will always be the few who go to the stadium, buy the merchandise, travel costs, shirts every year, season tickets n fkin £4 a pint. unfortunately there would still be 30,000 at sjp if we played in the conference. making us money sheep to jabba the hut

Comment #17the only way to stop nufc making money is to bang the heads together of those renewing their season tickets. im guessing 20k people renew each year. thats around £10m loss to ashley before a ball is kicked. i doubt that would ever happen though

Comment #19season ticket holders are’nt responsible for the mess, they are responsible for ensuring around £10m plus goes straight into ma’s profit margin, almost ensuring financial fairplay before the start of the season. ma put us up for sale after the cockney mafia out banners, but kept the club from immediate cash cow greed soon after.
