Newcastle Could Start This Player On Saturday

Newcastle have got themselves into a perilous position by taking only 9 points this year out of a possible 45 points played for  – and we have steadily slipped down the league table until we are now  genuine relegation candidates, and what have we heard from the club on this – absolutely nothing.

siem de jong heading ball

Siem de Jong – should start on Saturday

The good news is that Siem De Jong played the full 90 minutes for the Newcastle U21 side at Derby County this afternoon in a 4-0 defeat – but it will help sharpen the Dutch International and get him more match fit so he can start playing for the first team.

It may be too soon to start him on Saturday at Leicester City, and yes we have to be careful with him – but it we lose this game and other results go against us, we could be right in the middle of the relegation struggle come Saturday evening.

At the very least, maybe Siem can come on for the second half on Saturday – because we’ll need his skill and goal-scoring prowess, and he’s one who will give us 100%.

The main news coming from Derby was that Siem came through the game with no ill effects, and he is getting closer and closer to be able to start for Newcastle United.

That’s good news because we need him.

Comments welcome.

Is The Thing in Satan’s Underpants going to the match then? Would love to see him there to watch us play. He can swell with pride and congratulate Johnny C. afterwards. A big party to celebrate the 8th loss in a row planned then Mike?

“I’m not sticking up for Ashley. I’m sticking up for the truth. Painting ashley as the anti-christ undermines any valid criticisms. That’s not good for the club.”

Like i said, i do not care 1 bit what anybody say’s about that human tapeworm. To actually care about what things are said about him,for me,would require a level of respect for him.I don’t respect him at all,so i don’t care what people say.So you will “correct” the truth in peoples opinions of a man who has hardly ever told us the truth?

Whoever runs the club is goingAshley is facing this problem. The club can’t just borrow to buy players and managers. It has to be prudent and make money, not least to service and pay down its already substantial debt.

I think your living in the past, this is what people where saying 5 yrs ago when the jury was still out on jabba. In the 8yrs he has been here the only good thing was a 5th place finish and then what did he do?when we could have showed ambition in the transfer market and built on our success he signed 1 dutch midget.Fast forward 5yrs,we were 6th at Christmas, same scenario, what did he do?,sold Cabaye and didn’t bring in a replacement.2 incidents 5yrs apart that show he does not give a f@ck about our ambitions and you wonder why you get so much stick for defending him.

What do you have in mind?

Ashley gets slated on here for not doing due diligence when he bought the club. I’ve asked Ciaran time and again to explain why he slates him for it. He won’t answer. Perhaps you’re prepared to? You sound just like the man to do it.

Read a page a day in a bookshop on the way to your job, employ a small child to steal it for you, persuade somebody else to buy it then photograph every page to read later while they’re not looking. That’s all i got.

Misrepresenting me. I’ve criticised him for not doing due diligence because he created a situation wherein he wanted to flip the club for a quick profit but because he was lumbered with debt that he was unaware he was liable to pay immediately, he couldn’t do so.

So after taking charge of the club he then “loaned” the club some money to pay the mortgage off – which was the basis of a structured repayment plan, and despite our finances at that time was in no danger of defaulting. The mortgage was only immediately repayable upon the club changing hands, had he done his due diligence he’d have realised that.

Now stuck with a club he didn’t want, having ploughed his own cash into it he then was lumped with us for better, for worse. He may have genuinely wanted to make a fist of it at the start by appointing Keegan, but by cutting the legs from under him he then led us down a path culminating in our relegation, wherein he was forced further to “loan” the club some money to subsidise the wages to keep players that would get us back to the cash-cow of the PL.

The club, now saddled with more debt than we’ve ever had, back in the PL commanding more than it is probably worth + MA’s debt, is beyond the reasonable asking prices of even the most oil-rich Sheikh and we’re stuck in a relationship that is miserable for all, but beneficial for one.

In the rank of the importance of questions relating to what is happening to our football club at this moment in time the discussion about jabba not performing due diligence is one step above what the tea lady’s name is.

He gets fixated on people, starts combing through their comments to try and pick holes in redundant statements of little relevance. Watch him try and blow up the whole due diligence discussion in an attempt to discredit me when in reality, it is of little relevance, as you rightly point out, given that we’re 8 years down the line.

The man’s a basket case, but I’ve given him enough that should busy him for a while.

I’m stating timeless financial principles. The club needs to make a profit. It can’t keep borrowing tens of millions to squander on buying older players and compensating sacked managers. It certainly can’t rack up the losses that Shepherd did. Those days of marquee signings are over. It’s difficult to see how any new owner can bring them back. Who do you think we should realistically be competing with? Man Utd, Chelsea, City? They’re always going to be firm favourites. How do you think NUFC under Ashley has compared to Sunderland? Why haven’t Sunderland left us miles behind if Ashley is so bad and it was all that simple?

This free advertising is being used as a stick to beat Ashley with for the disgraceful and incompetent way he is running other aspects of the club. Any loss on advertising is more than made up for in terms of the interest free loan. You hate Ashley so much, you let it colour your judgment of everything.
