Sleep Walking Into The Championship – It’s A Disgrace

It’s not a good place on Tyneside at the moment, and as well as John Carver getting some severe criticism for his coaching or lack thereof,  the players are also coming in for some real criticism for their lack of effort which was epitomized in the second half against Swansea on Saturday afternoon with what was a listless and heartless display, and if we play like that for our remaining four games we will have 11 defeats on the trot at the end the season.

Mick Quinn – sleep-walking to the Championship

We could still stay  up depending on how some of the teams perform below us including Sunderland, but we would really be the team that deserved to go down if that happens, especially because we have to play at Leicester City and QPR.

The soul has gone out of the club this year,  and this is what Chronicle columnist Mick Quinn, who doesn’t hold back, has said.

“The players are a disgrace at the moment.” “It a soulless place – it is like a ghost ship right now.”

“They are sleep-walking into the Championship with performances like this, and the worst part is they don’t seem to give two hoots.”

“Pulling on the black-and-white jersey should be an honor, but this lot don’t seem to be bothered and it’s killing the fans.”

We are at Leicester City on Saturday and they entertain Chelsea tomorrow night, but a win at the King Power Stadium on Saturday would make us safe for the season – a terrible season once again.

It’s not looking good for Newcastle,  who have been in free-fall all year with some simply pathetic performances.

    Lindisfarne,
Kemen at right back? Why? He is a midfielder, and not an overly defensive one at that!

But what about giving Ashley another damning mention Micky? The team has been left threadbare by lack of care / investment etc etc. Not enough quality, which is the owner / his cronies’ fault. I see Shearer was on lambasting the team and not a word about the owner AGAIN. Not much help from the comfy sofa then?

Mike Ashley hasn’t learned much about football in the last 8 years. Instead of parachuting in a caretaker he sit and fiddles while the club fails.

I do, went up yesterday for tea and biscuits with JC but was refused.

No signs anywhere, there was one but it was from East Benton farm saying they’re putting a gate in to stop people using their private road as a short cut.

    Other than that zip

    SITC,
I guess they are trying to kick a bit of fire into the players to try and drag us out of the slump. Lee Ryder was saying that the players are upset by the criticism they are getting, so hopefully if they continue to get it we might see at least a vaguely professional response from them. I’m sure if we win a game then these very same pundits will change focus.

It shouldn’t be forgotten that these players deserve criticism though. No heart and a bunch of cowards with Carver as the brainless scarecrow it is looking more like a musical theatre cast then anything else.

    OP,
Doesn’t surprise me in the slightest – on either count. I did read that JC was going to meet with the two fans he argued with though. Would love to be a fly on the wall at that.

“So John, how have you used your time to improve the transitional phases between defence and attack which are now considered key aspects of the modern game?”

“Errr, could you spell transi…whatitsface for me please?”

Anybody got a dictaphone that they could lend to record the whole thing?

Why do the club wait until the seasons end to take the arm band off Colo he was never fit for purpose, Colback for me I duno whos worse Willo or Anita who would i bring dummet in for? Or maybe move Janmatt back to the centre something has to change back there maybe Jonas at RB Janmatt and Colo CB and Dummet LB looks alot stronger to me the hopeless players have to be banished for me they have been getting a free ride long enough. For me Colo, Willo, Tiote, Moussa, Chucky, and many other including JC and Steve Stone could pack there bags and hit the road and couple solid british pros need recruiting and a half decent ball playing manager and coach to train them could put a bit of pride back on the pitch oh ya and if my wildest dreams were to come through a new owner.

What we need is an experienced manager who can step in and change things around quickly so we can climb the table to safety, a bit like that bloke at Crystal Palace.
