The summer must be approaching quickly because Newcastle are now being linked with a host of players, and surprisingly we are being linked today with Arsenal’s German striker Lukas Podolski, who is a bit past his best and turns 30 in June.
Lukas Podolski in Arsenal colors
The Metro is reporting that both Newcastle and Sunderland are interested in the striker, who cannot get his game at the Gunners and will move on this summer, but he is likely to join a club playing in the Champions League every season.
Lukas is currently on loan at Inter-Milan, but he’s scored only one goal there this year, and that move is unlikely to be made permanent in the summer.
It’s certain that the German World Cup winner will leave the Gunners in the summer, but there will still be some top clubs interested in signing the striker, who has scored goals throughout his illustrious career.
The German has scored 31 goals in 82 appearances for Arsenal since joining them from Cologne four years ago, and while at Cologne he scored 35 goals in 96 appearances.
Lukas had a great International career and has played 123 times for Germany with a phenomenal 46 goals.
Podolski has just one year left on his contract at Arsenal, but we don’t think Newcastle are interested in the player, because his value will not increase if Newcastle sign him.
The Newcastle owner likes to sign younger players 27 years old or younger, so he can then sell them at a significant profit in one or two years – and Polish-born Lukas Podolski does not fit that profile.
There’s no chance that Newcastle will be interested in this player this summer.
