We could have had a chance to survive in the Premier League if the club could have brought in a new coach today, but it looks like Steve McClaren was no mug – and didn’t want to come into the club with three games to go, with everything being in such an awful shambles.
Steve’s no fool.
John Carver – ineffective coach
So John Carver remains to coach the side for the final three games of the season, but John himself has caused a lot of the infighting going on with his players, and when you have caused the problem it is very difficult to be the one to put it right.
The decision to keep Carver was made by Lee Charnley – amazing as it seems – after John’s terrible record at the club – but we suppose Carver and the players now just have to get on with it – and try not to fight amongst themselves.
Here’s John’s record.
[table “33” not found /]Maybe we can get a win at QPR a week on Saturday, because they may have already been relegated by the time we play them.
But it’s difficult to see us getting any points in our final two home games against West Brom and then West Ham on the final day of the season.
We hope there are no demonstrations against Ashley during those games – but we are probably wrong on that one – we just want the players to be given the best chance of winning so we can survive.
Demonstrations against Ashley can take place over the summer in an attempt to get him out of the club, because he’s been completely found out this year, as to what he’s doing at Newcastle and the national press have finally clicked on about what he’s about.
That can only help us to get the guy out of Newcastle – but it would be good to still be a Premier League club at that time.
Hull City play Arsenal tonight and certainly a Gunners win in this game will help us – but we don’t rule out Hull even being able to win this game.
Such are some of the shocks when your PL existence is at on the line – and the players are playing like their lives depended on it.
it’s all about what the other sides do – since we have been on 35 points now since 28th February when we last picked up some points – a win at home to Aston Villa.
That’s just two days over nine weeks ago.
🙁
Such has been he complete collapse of this Newcastle United side under John Carver – and it could well be the greatest collapse ever in the Premier League by the time the end of the season rolls around.
Hope not.
Here’s the current bottom part of the Premier League table – and remember we were in 9th place at the end of the year, and we were only 14 points from the 40 points safety mark, but after another 16 games played we are still 5 points below that 40 points total.
UEFA Champions League Group F
Team | Played | Won | Lost | Drawn | GD | Points |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Dortmund | 6 | 3 | 1 | 2 | 3 | 11 |
PSG | 6 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 1 | 8 |
AC Milan | 6 | 2 | 2 | 2 | -3 | 8 |
Newcastle | 6 | 1 | 3 | 2 | -1 | 5 |
First things first though, and we have to hope Hull City don’t get their third win in a row tonight or even a draw against Arsenal – because that single point would take them above us in the league table.

Scout…I don’t think he’s saying anything. He’s going “woooooooooo” as he goes in for a nipple twist. You can see in his eyes, “have I got my fingers wide enough apart to mount Ashleys nip?”

How ironic, utterly hilarious and brilliant at the same time would it be if Wonga announced they were terminating their sponsorship with NUFC as they didn’t want THEIR name associated with such a shite product

Those who have gone regularly for years and stopped, I wouldn’t criticise them. Am I a better supporter than them? That’s not an argument I would look to make. I’m just sticking with the team now. But the fans who go home and away through all the troubles are the best supporters of all. Better than me and certainly better than you IMO. It’s only my opinion. I’m not asking you to like it.
If fans kept away during the ownership of sh!tty or greedy regimes, no fan would have gone in my lifetime. Some fans have put up with this sort of sh!te from owners for 50 years and more and finally have had enough. I don’t blame them one bit.
I don’t know why you’re hung up on this point? Just because you have never been to SJP doesn’t mean your not a valid supporter in your own way. Supporting NUFC for a Geordie is different to supporting it for a non Geordie. Supporting in the virtual world is different from going and being a part of it. You’re more committed and have more invested if you go or have been going for years.
My point is that those criticising and slagging off others for giving Ashley their money are out of order. The opinion of those who have always stayed away and the reasons they give for slagging off others are not persuasive. Leaders lead from the front. If they’ve been there through thick and thin and then say they’ve had enough, I respect their view. But not if they turn on those who are prepared to stick it out longer.

Comment #51Ibiza @17 – I agree the relationship is one way – I know of no other business that treats its paying customers with such distain!
I’m just saying that at this stage we are in such a mess that nobody will want to come in so we have no choice but ‘to make do and mend’ and stick with Carver.

Comment #53Blackley…Do you consider your opinion, as a present attender, more valid than those who have moved to other parts of the country or abroad, or their children who support the club as a family tradition in a foreign land far from home?

Comment #54martoon…I hear you. It’s just such a horrible postion to put people in. Why?
Just gets me, all so unnecessary.
Truth is, it might not be easy, but if they really wanted to get someone in for these last 3 games, they could.

Comment #56For when we do get a new manager, I agree with a previous poster that Steve Harper would make a great ‘Terry Mac’ now he has his badges. In fact, he could also be our 3rd choice keeper if his career at Hull stalls after this season.

Comment #58Tbo we’ve been playing with a team of players a small step above a championship side for a few years, but we’ve always had quality striker’s. We would have been relegated last season without Remy. Mash took a massive gamble saving on not strengthening key areas. Let’s hope it works.

At least a positive for Sat, and QPR match, that with Willo being suspended it could mean that Satka actually gets a chance. Or knowing JC, our defence on Sat will be:

Comment #75This fcuking shite reminds me so much of the 12/13 season (that never happened, how could it of with our glorious leader at the helm) relying on other teams to be shitter than us. Swansea v wigan anyone? Never happened that.
Embarrassing, shambolic, loveless, shoddy, ridiculous. Many many others that I cannot be arsed mentioning.

0-2 to Arse – bad result for us – if we hang on by teh skin of our teeth it will be seen as a V successful season – and no bonuses to payout.
