Poll – Should John Carver Have Been Fired?

john carver Swansea

John Carver – hot-headed personality

We suppose it can be helpful when you say yes all the time to your bosses, and Carver kept his job today – even though he has lost eight games on the trot and looks completely out of his depth.

At a proper football club he would have been fired, and unfortunately for the club Lee Charnley has just made a critical mistake in management of letting sentiment come into his decision making.

But this is probably the first time he’s ever been in management, but Newcastle could be going down because of another stupid and risky decision from the top.

Should John Carver Have Been Fired By Now?

Of course he’s still at the club, he was given the job because he’s the cheapest option. Even if or should I say when we’re in the championship hell keep his job. Yes men are worth their weight in gold.

It’s up to 6 votes now for the no side. Amazing. The same 6 probably like Charnley as managing director and Ashley as owner.

Charnley was promoted from Club Secretary.
I guess he was mentored for the job by Director of Foootball Joe Kinnear and his lovely predecessor the “horrible” Derek Llambias.

    Learn from the best …

What will Carver do to explain things if we lose the last 3 games. Who’s left to blame? I suppose there are the office staff John. Have a go at them.

a blind could see that carver should never have been given the job
the only reason he is still here is no1 wants to be the manager that takes us down

there are plenty of decent tactical coaches out there not working why hasn’t the club bought some1 into help him
its criminal to have given him the job but the least the club could do is give him all the help they can

a team that LLLLLLLL does not deserve to stay in the premier league we just are not good enough, no investment is coming in the summer more french cheap tat the whole club is just toxic and rotten to the core,

    needed

    -new owner
    -new manager
-new players who are actually proven in this division

There’s a pride in supporting your home town club, but especially when your home town is Newcastle. It means that, even if the team is sh!te, owned by leaches, and languishing near the bottom of the second tier, you still turn up to support the team. Anyone who doesn’t want to do that, that’s their choice and I don’t criticise them. But I defend the right of committed fans to follow and support their team through the good times as well as the bad times. The good times are much sweeter when they come.

The club is nothing without the die hards. So when they get hammered on here and told they’re mugs and worse for giving Ashley their money, I defend them; not least when that criticism comes from bloggers thousands of miles away, some of whom are not Geordies and have never been to SJP and who are happy to see the club relegated. It wouldn’t be so bad if the name callers had a strategy involving a new owner. But no, it’s all about anti-Ashley bile and the politics that go with it.

That press release from the club is sickening, but more importantly I firmly believe the final, gasping, horrifying death rattle of a club destined for relegation. Carver should be sacked, he’s not and never was up to the job. Mr. Ashley, if you want to protect your investment NOW is the time to take action and keep us in the league. To do that you need to act.

The vote keeps increasing to keep Carver, perhaps those posters can explain there reason. I know our squad is poor but he’s lost the dressing room and his tactics are clueless.

Fair point there in your last post towards me.Too many issues are there to be sorted out in the summer. But if a player misconducts on and off the pitch, that is poor lack of mismanagement from the head coach, no one else..

    Am a bit tired,I guess’ll catch u tomorrow..

I’m pleased for John, he can carry on the proud tradition of there being a Geordie at the helm to take us down.

He could be the hero in the end if it gets rid of Ashley.

The more I read Charnley’s statement, the more incredible it seems.

Charnley, who as a woefully inadequate MD has and with the guidance and blessing of Ashley, presided over a disastrous season.

He must take responsibility for selling Pardew.

He must take responsibility for a failed succession plan in having having Carver as Pardew’s number two.

He must take responsibility for failing to recruit an adequate replacement for Pardew.

He must take responsibility for installing Carver as interim HC when other more able managers were available to take the short term role.

He must take responsibility for depleting the squad.

He must take responsibility for putting the HC recruitment process on hold.

He must take responsibility for not acting to replace Carver when defeats were becoming the norm.

He must take responsibility for implicitly backing Carver following eight successive defeats.

He must take responsibility for backing Carver when virtually all of the players don’t!

Yet, ‘We’ have all made mistakes and ‘We’ must pull together to avoid relegation, the relegation of ‘Our’ club?

Interesting that it’s the fans’ club when it suits him – the same fans he’s treated with such contempt over the last year.

Charnley deserves the boot as well as Carver, as soon as possible when the season’s over.

    But, what’ll happen? Nowt!

    SNAFU

I don’t think i share with the majority here. It’s not so smooth. It’s difficult. He shouldn’t be in post to start with, just a bloke doing his best in the given situation.

I find it really hard to judge a manager/coach at this club under the circumstances and what they have to work with. Im trying to be balanced. The only thing im sure about is Mike Ashley either changing his structures or leaving all together.

“Die hard” fans get no trouble on this blog.
    Blockheads and argumentative types do.
Also those who remain in the past and cannot see what the future beholds may also get short change from the majority.

Shouldn’t have got the job, should’ve been fired long ago,but what’s the point firing now?
No one will come in,who will lead the team?
I’ve been against support the team not the regime rubbish but in these last three games we really need to raise the volume even if the stadium is half empty.
The atmosphere Leicester fans created for their team for ages now has been great,of course it’s easier when you see your team trying.

    @Blackley.

I agree that no matter what league we are in, we support the team. But the fact of the matter is that I know of a fair few that still go to matches at SJP and away, yet still complain about Ashley but wont or cant do anything to show their disgust.

Toon fans can live anywhere o earth, you don’t exactly know why they had to move, eg. work, family reasons….

As I have said previously, its not about removing Ashley its more about showing we are UNITED and want him to deliver on some of the many promises he has said several years ago but yet failed to deliver. Either he changes his ways and starts being a fit and proper owner or he moves aside to someone else
