Newcastle Reportedly Make £15M Deal For Top Striker Target

There is news coming through from Italy that Newcastle United have agreed a £15M fee fee to sign the Anderlecht striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.

BELGIUM SOCCER JPL DAY 14 ANDERLECHT VS OH LEUVEN

Anderlecht striker Aleksandar Mitrovic

The deal is being reported on the Italian website gianlucadimarzio.com, but it’s not clear if the deal will go through now or will be dependent on Newcastle keeping their Premier League status this season.

Aleksander has scored 25 goals in 47 appearances this season for his Belgian side who play in the for Jupiler Pro League, and he’s had a great season and is still only 20 years old and already has 11 full caps for Serbia after also playing for the U21 and U19 side.

And terms are still to be agreed with the young striker, so it seems Newcastle have agreed the fee with Anderlecht and can now talk to the player.

But it does seem that Newcastle have stolen a march on other clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool – so it would be a surprise if we can now actually sign him.

The 20 year-old 6ft 3ins striker seems a natural goalscorer, and he was at Belgrade clubs Teleoptik and Partizan before joining the Belgian club in the summer of 2013, for a transfer fee of €5M (£3.9M) – which is Anderlecht’s record transfer fee.

In his career he has played 154 first team games and has scored 66 goals, so he is one of the very best young strikers in Europe and in great demand.

Newcastle have been linked with him since last summer.

The Serbian is a powerful striker and played particularly well in this season’s Champions League for Anderlecht, and he also has good speed, and certainly looks like a top young player who would be a terrific acquisition for Newcastle United.

But there’s no way this deal will go through if the Magpies are relegated this season.

Here’s hoping – oh yes – and here’s praying.

Comments welcome.

    Ed,

Your stance has baffled me in regards to shunning the protests and the effort the AO campaign, or “brigade” as you sometimes call them.

When you keep comming out with this “get behind the lads, support the team” line, time after time, i’m left scratching my head, I really am.

It’s fast approaching 60 years since our last domestic silverware. NUFC has been gifted with blind faith and an almost religious following in those 60 years. What has that effort, and it is an effort at times to support this club, what has it acheived?

And then it hit me, like a bolt of lightning (from across the Atlantic). The fact is your stance in regard to boycotts etc all stems from a rather SELFISH standpoint… If or when NUFC get relegated, you will not have any live coverage of NUFC games in the USA!

The mood in and around this city is nothing short of depressing, fat lad has left a god aweful vibe all across this great region.

He has destroyed this once great club with stupid decisions, managers, DoF, renaming the stadium, his cheap tat shop advertising, selling our crown jewels, his treatment of our legends, the list goes on and on and on… W*nga? wtf?

But hey, what does that matter right? As long as YOU get to see the live games eh?

I hope the safety line isn’t the same line we try to get players over, or we are ducked.

why can’t we throw 15m at a proper modern, attacking coach. Mclaren and especially moyes are never going to see the world alight with free flowing football. Someone like Paco Jemez would be a breath of fresh air

Saying the fans have any responsibility for our slide is disrespectful to the blog as a whole Ed. We’re the punters who pay the wages. The worst crowd is 40 thousand plus which nearly every other team in the league would sell their kids for lol.

However I do say that these last two home matches are too crucial to use as an agenda to oust fatty boy. We need to roar the lads on even if they are a talentless gutless bunch of brats who aren’t worth it. We must stay in this league or we won’t get back up in a long time.

I can’t believe help hasn’t been drafted in to help Carver.

Whatever has been discussed and agreed to get the points required mean nothing without an experienced coach / motivator, which Carver clearly isn’t despite all his bravado.

think the only way a manager will come in is if the club start buying some decent players
but then why spend 15mill on a player he might not want

good job its only a rumour

So, one of the leading young strikers in Europe, being pursued by Chelski, Arsenal, Liverfool – is actually going to choose NUFC instead??

Its not as if we are a basket case or anything, or that we play shite football, or have NO Professional Management anywhere in the organisation!!

There is more chance of Lord Lucan riding Shegar across SJP at 1530 on Saturday.

Where is the Poll re the boycotts??

I understand (ish) what the club mean when they say sacking a manager will cause too much upheaval! But surely someone needs to come in to help Carver as assistant or advisor? even on a 3 game contract?
A Venables maybe? Or a Hoddle? Even a redknapp?
Doesn’t even have to be an experienced manager, merely a name that the players will respect and work for! A Rijkaard or a Zico?
Aime Jacquet or roger lemerre coming in as an advisor just to give the odd motivational speech would be huge for some of our players!

Far too much speculation and lies surrounds our club. There’s no way Mash would pay 15 mil for any one player, he’d expect half a squad for that, with of course resale in mind.

So the wally with the brolly did turn us down, how low can we sink?
We are relegated now, we will not score another goal and will concede at least 8 in the last 3 games.
Why is there no statement from MASH, he needs to face his customers and explain his position. I will accept it if he tells us “it has nothing to do with us and he can do what he likes,”………but give us something!!

    poor coach
    poor squad
    poor training
    poor scouting
    poor fitness.
    no leadership on the pitch.
Gullible fans happy to part with cash to watch sh.t.
The bank has money and we’re on the brink of relegation.
