19 year-old winger Rolando Aarons played his first game tonight, since coming on as a substitute in the first half at home to Liverpool way back on 1st November, which was his last game for the club – but the news tonight is good because he came through tonight unscathed in Newcastle’s 4-2 win against Blackburn U21s.
Rolando Aarons made first appearance since 1st November
The lads were 2-0 up at the half, and as expected head coach John Carver was watching, but coach Carver will have to be very careful with how he now uses the teenager since Rolando is obviously so short of match practice.
But with Rolando playing and the talented and experienced Siem de Jong slowly making his way back – and hopefully Papiss Cisse available for at least some substitute appearances starting Saturday, Carver should have some fresh attacking options over the last three games of the season.
John will hold his press conference on Thursday, and let’s hope he’s just very straight about things – and we’ll be very interested to learn about who he’s considering for the back four against West Brom on Saturday, and who will partner Fab Coloccini in central defense.
With Williamson, Janmaat and possibly Paul Dummett all missing we could see Ryan Taylor at right-back and Vurnon Anita at left back and maybe even Moussa Sissoko at center-back with all three playing out of position.
Daryl Janmaat is suspended for one game but big Mike Williamson is out for two games and will return for our final game on May 24th against the Hammers and the result of that game could well decide whether we are relegated or not.
Relegation would be a huge body blow to Newcastle United and there’s nothing great about being relegated.
And there are also some positive signs that some of the senior players seem set on trying to save Newcastle from relegation, with Fabricio having written an open letter to fans on the Newcastle web-site.
It’s good news about Rolando, but it’s not clear just how much he can be used in the remaining three crucial games, but it would be positive news if he’s on the bench on Saturday.

Comment #83Apparently FatAsh is furious that someone tried to step outside the building – on a zero hour contract – and wants their name so he can dock their wages

Comment #86The adverse publicity generated by Ashley’s behaviour across the board means he is being attacked now from every angle.
We have to be careful that when he is backed into a corner that he doesn’t come out hissing and spitting too much venom.
Let’s not forget he is still holding the reins.

How very dare they raid the slugs beloved. The cheek of em eh.
POLICE probing two Rangers takeovers raided Sports Direct boss Mike Ashley’s HQ yesterday.
Detectives investigating the conduct of Craig Whyte and Charles Green travelled from Scotland to the Derbyshire nerve-centre of Ashley’s huge business empire.
The two-year inquiry was understood to have centred on Whyte – but now the focus seems to have switched to Rangers’ operations since the club was sold by Sir David Murray in 2011.
The move has shocked staff at Ashley’s HQ in Shirebrook, Mansfield.
One worker told the Record: “I noticed a couple of regular bobbies walking around but I didn’t think too much of it.
“But when I tried to step outside the building at around 11am, I was told I couldn’t leave until a full search of the premises had been carried out.
“One detective said we could go into the canteen while the search was ongoing but people wanted to know what was happening so we stayed there.
“At one point, the detective asked if any of those in reception was David Forsey, the chief executive. When we said he wasn’t there, he said we were all free to go.”
Police Scotland confirmed that officers had searched a property in Derbyshire but would not comment further.

You’re clearly a man who’s seen a bit, done a bit and thought a lot.
But, hey man, you must’ve seen and kept to yourself that the players might not be receptive, not only respond to Carver?
Surely players don’t suddenly switch off – nmmmm maybe they do resond to Carver.
You’ll fondly mind the first Keegan management? Remember, players used to enjoy training, keepy-uppy, head tennis, smiles all round?
Everybody happy and enjoying their football.
Now how can we persuade Carver to seek out some footage, some memories from former players, fans….. And learn!

I think the time for worrying about repercussions is over.
He’s already humiliated us, dragged our club through the mud by association and treated us, the fans with utter contempt.
Let’s keep plugging away especially so as the searchlight is well and truly upon him.
