John Carver provided us all with yet another headline making press conference yesterday and gave an update on what he has been doing every day since the devastating defeat last Saturday at Leicester City, and he continues to embarrass both himself and Newcastle United. because of his inexperience and naivety.
John Carver – volatile personality
When he amazingly accused Mike Williamson of getting himself purposely sent off last Saturday he said it was all for a purpose (yeah – right):
“I’m trying to get something. I talk about having a strategy, find a way of winning a football match. I’ve got to try and get something out of them. When somebody provokes me, then it makes me even more determined.”
“That’s me as a person. I’m trying to do that to some of the players to get a reaction. There’s nothing personal in any of it.” “I sat with Mike Williamson. We had good discussion. It was excellent, two-way.”
“The week before it was Jonas, same thing.” “You sometimes have to do things to stir the hornets nest.” This situation has been building for a while and Carver acknowledges the problems have been building.”
So John has had problems with Mike Williamson and Jonas Gutierrez recently, and he talks about that as if it’s good.
It’s not good, and it just shows that Carver has far too many blow-ups with his players because of his volatile personality and self-centered approach – that’s never good for a football coach.
The decision to keep Carver in charge for the last three games made last Monday by the Brains Trust at Newcastle will be the death knell for the club in the Premier League this season.
We hope we are wrong on that.

Is that typo or did Carver refer to himself in the third person??

Comment #46I don’t know about the players but I can’t make head nor tail of what he’s trying to say. That’s perhaps why Ashley didn’t bother even to give him his ‘vote of confidence’ by phone but just let Chinless pass it on.
What utter humiliation for Carver whose regard by Toon fans from affection to villain is just another minor casualty of this whole sorry saga.
For a club prioritising the league, they have a funny way of going about it. Buut at least Mashley has made another £44 million sale of realestate to the University of Westminster. Bless.

Comment #48Get used to Carver, if we go down, the coach is ready in place and will fit into the new tighter budget. If we stay up his mouth will go and the clueless board will give him the job for saving us, not to mention he’ll still be the cheapest option of course.

Comment #49Our problem has been that our run in is too easy. If our last ten games had been City, United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool home and away, the numerous mercenaries and show ponies in the squad would have done enough hoping to find a new suitor to keep us up certainly. Why bother against Leicester, Brom, QPR, West Ham or even Sunderland apparently. Our saving grace ironically will probably be that Sunderland will somehow contrive a way to keep us up and send themselves down instead. Such is the parlous state of North East football. Likewise Boro will probably be so stricken at missing out on an automatic spot, that they’ll fail in the playoffs also, despite being the best football team in the Championship.

Comment #50I would love to know what the league’s best coach is doing in training to get so many injuries or may be he is right they don’t want to play for him.
Either way what a damning indictment

Silly me and I though John Carver was the best Head Coach in the Premiership or is the Award only for ” Managers” and not ” Coaches”

Comment #56I guess Ed doesn’t like Carver?
I’d have sympathy for him about the injuries and suspensions and the inadequate squad he inherited, except he’s been happy taking money from Ashley, bigging him up like Pardew used to.

I get the impression that the only training that is directed by the Head Coach is all done on white boards and video screens. This would explain the absolute detachment the team have from implementing a game plan and playing tactically to achieve a united performance. I would presume if the Head Coach were actually on the training pitches get his boots dirty then there would either be a better response, or he would be made accountable.

Pathetic club from the top to the bottom.

Comment #59Someone posted on the last thread that Santon was our best defender.
For a moment I thought that that was the most ridiculous thing I’d ever heard (he’s awful, never tracked back, always lost the ball going forward, always missing from the line or playing someone onside, very few assists, very very few goals, nothing that positive in an attacking or defensive sense) however, compared with the rest of our back line, he wasn’t all that bad was he?

I don’t know about locking him in a room with Welsh and me, but I could put him in my box with you.
Will you be boycotting tomorrow using your mate’s ticket to go in? Yes, Blackley, if I ever get out of this box.
Remember Dick Emery? “Done it wrong again, dad.” Claiming with glee Blackley had denied that the club had made profits in the last 4 years when Blackley had said no such thing. Blackleys whole point was that Ashley now had the club making profits and you jumped in with he had made profits in 4 years not one. Doh! The boycotter who uses his mate’s ticket. Not the sharpest.

And then jumping on old Blackley for not reading your posts properly. When Blackley was only giving you the benefit of the doubt that no boycotter would possibly use his mate’s ticket to go into the match. You couldn’t make it up.

the irony is that ash hasn’t employed a proper coaching and backroom staff to develop his bargain ”gems” so very few will ever come to fruition.
Under proper coaches the likes of abeid, kemen, etc could thrive, but with these clowns not a chance.
How would carver, stone, woodman and watson get employed anywhere else except possibly league 1

Comment #71Leave it alone you cardboard cut out.
I look foward to hearing you boo boo tut tut sighing at SJP tomorrow.
Do yourself a favour and become the real fan you claim to be and use your energy to get behind the team instead of pointing your stinky finger at others.
I find it so amusing so called real fans like yourself asking the protesters to get behind the team, be the fan you claim to be and get behind the team instead of using your energy to bore the shit out of others by claiming your a superior fan.
It’s muppets like you who’ve killed the atmosphere in SJP by twisting and moaning at everyone and everything around you, instead of doing something about it.

Comment #80I don’t get it Ed, so whois to blame for our demise. Is it the sack Pardew crew or the Ashley Out mob, maybe Geordie Johns ridiculous man management and unsuitability for the job. OR, is it down to those who, despite having 80 people from within football to choose from decided to give the job to the caretaker, and in case it didn’t work out they came up with the great idea of selling two international defenders, sending the core of the reserve team North to Rangers for 500K and decided not to spend any money to give the new coach the perfect excuse for failure and a crack at the job next year. Unfortunately……..
