Pardew Gives Appropriate Response To Unjustified Criticism

It really is rich to blame Alan Pardew for the trials and tribulations Newcastle have been through this season – the SackPardew crowd were successful in getting Pardew to leave the club – rather suddenly as it turns out – and he’s done very well at Crystal Palace and we have done awful and will in all likelihood be relegated this month.

alan pardew after cisse goal

Alan Pardew – while at Newcastle

Freddy Shepherd somehow has worked out that it wasn’t really John Carver’s fault for the demise this year and in fact the fault of nobody at the club at the moment – but rather Alan Pardew’s the one that has to take the blame – not sure of the logic behind that one.

One thing we have all found out this year, is that Alan Pardew was not the real problem at Newcastle – the owner is the big problem.

Here’s Alan Pardew’s response to the charges made by the former Newcastle Chairman:

“That’s typically unfair of that individual and that paper.” “The local paper at Newcastle makes it very difficult for the manager.” “The players they have are trying their very, very best to get the club over the line.”

“The group is short of confidence, I hope they gain that this Saturday and John Carver and the team can get them across the line.” “The players we had were tremendous during the time I was there, and the results we had until I left were pretty excellent in terms of where we were.”

“I’m not here to defend that situation, all I can say is I really hope Newcastle win on Saturday. It’s a big game for them.”

That’s the right balanced response from Pardew – don’t get any more involved.

Newcastle United is a club that right now is the laughing-stock of English football – because of our free-fall down the league in the last two months, and that’s even though we have the best manager in the Premier League.

And we have brought it on ourselves.

We need to take it on the chin – we’ve done it all to ourselves – but maybe we can still win one of the last three games and still survive.

That’s still a  possibility – although a slim one – but if we can do that there needs to be some massive soul-searching at the club in the summer – especially from those at the top who have got us into this complete mess.

Comments welcome.

And Ashley is a little ray of sunshine for the manager is he Alan, truth is you should have been sacked like a dog a very long time ago, but as always deflect the blame and point you’re finger at someone else

“The players they have are trying their very, very best to get the club over the line.”

Total rubbish, most of them just slowly walk back after losing the ball, watching the opposition rip whats left of the back 4 to shreds.

However this mess is not Pardew’s fault.

How have we brought this on ourselves? Yes some fans hounded pardew but he stood by a lot of criticism. The reason he took the palace job was, closer to family home, he’s a club legend and more importantly if rumours are to be believed, is actually allowed to sign his own choice of players, not get dumped with what’s left.

We have to ask the question, why is palace, relegation favourites when he went, a more desirable proposition than newcastle united, a team which played in Europe the season before.

Well I think this mess is mainly down to Ashley, after all in any business the man at the top takes the flack…he is not solely to blame though but takes up a very large chunk of it.

The Ashley argument has been made many times, not hiring good DOF or chairmen, letting them hire poor managers and not releasing the purse strings when it is needed…the extent of those mistakes are up for debate with some so I’ll leave it there for now.

Carver has been very poor, he says he wants free flowing football but what he doesn’t seem to release is that free flowing football stems from extreme discipline…take barca as the example. Every single player knows their role, they know when to attack, when to defend, where to run, when to make runs, to hustle to get the ball back, to work hard, etc etc…the clever moves don’t happen by accident, they are very well drilled. Carver simply cannot cut it, we need points more than anything else right now so should be back to basics.

Thirdly the players…yes it can’t be nice working with a poor coach or with an owner who declares don’t go for cups and rests you, but these lads should have some pride in the shirt or at the very least pride in their own game. Too many have shown a lack of discipline and a lack of respect to us as fans, the manager/others at the club and their team mates.

I don’t blame the fans, even with 35/40,000 in the ground their is more support there than at 80% of other prem league grounds so that’s no excuse.

i didnt say some fans should take all the blame i said shoulder some blame whatever you think of the football pardew served up we wouldnt be in this mess if he was still here because one thing you can say about him is he is an excellent man manager even through turbulent times he never lost the dressing room

as a lot of posters said on here ashley should always have been the main focus – deal with pardew later because there is nothing in ashleys track record of ownership to suggest any ambition other than self serving and he has made us a toxic brand in the process highlighted by a manger who snubbed us in favour of staying with a c’ship club rather than come here

It shocked Pardew and he kicked everyone up the arse.
Short term only but great timing for him with Palace looking for a new manager.

Good luck to him but he’s only average at best. Negative style.

One thing that the fans have to take responsibility for is thinking we had a top eight side, and blamed Pardew for not getting us there. Yes he made mistakes but he was hardly spoilt for choice on which team to play, its even worse now.

Just when Blackley was fearing the whole of the UK had gone mad (and that was before Paddy Ashdown ate his hat), Ed backs Percy and Percy comes out with this:

“The players we had were tremendous during the time I was there, and the results we had until I left were pretty excellent in terms of where we were.”

The only way I can make any sense of this statement is if by “in terms of where we were” he means with a sh1tty squad, which he signed off on in the summer.

    @Ed – who is WE?

We, the supporters and the paying customers have NOT brought any of this on ourselves.
Mr. MJW Ashley is entirely responsible for how this Club runs and for another round of disastrous appointments at all levels.
His ownership and direction of, and for, the Club is utterly flawed. Hence staring another relegation in the face for the third time in 8 seasons.
You refer often to the ‘Pardew Out Crew’ when plainly he packed up and left when he knew there were going to be more outgoings and no in-comings in January.
What has followed since is yet another example of Ashley’s disastrous thinking – not attributable to anyone else but him.

Here’s my take so far on the main orchestrator of our downfall

Ashley – bought the club to funnel advertising and merchandise to sd, was quickly sussed and retreated into shadows in silence, hired a succession of inexpensive goons to see to day to day maximising of profits and driving of costs down. He will only step in if things go wrong, roll a few heads and try and refloat the club. But there will be no communication with the fans because to him we only exist on an attendance count or till receipts

Charnley – bean counting administration clerk promoted beyond ability to take a,sword up his jacket when all goes wrong as it is nicely doing right now.

Pardew – 2 nd rate manager all talk but when he saw the squad thinning and the crystal palace job in place didn’t do the decent thing and say he was committed to the end of season like most managers no he jumped knowing he was leaving a right mess behind

The Sackpardew Crew – well meaning individuals who could see Pardew as a symptom of a big illness, best place to start was to pressure him. Not really credited with getting Pardew out, he’s had worse stick over the years and the pay helped him to ignore it.

Carver – fall guy, patsy, unwitting and incapable dupe who was led to believe the step up to HC would be easy for him by the awful incompetent Charnley, who never even thought to have a shortlist of managers who might be available should the entirely thinkable happen, which of course it did. Nope Charnleys masterstroke was to throw carver in like a novice swimmer into white water.

    Wolfs head

I don’t want to start pointing fingers at fans but shouldn’t the people who attend shoulder some blame also?

Very little atmosphere and are rarely heard except to boo and criticise.

I’m not saying that’s all of those who attend but why don’t the others who aren’t booing getting behind the team?

We could now point the finger at the players for not giving the fans something to cheer, eventually when you follow the trail of pointed fingers they all end up on Ashley.

IMO the pointing fingers at each other and everyone else is exactly what Ashley wants. The attention off him and the fans divided. He needs to go.

I was never one of Pardew’s harshest critics but surely the Chronicle is no better or no worse than other ‘local rags’ in other towns and citys. Yes in London there are several teams whereas Newcastle has 1 football team which focuses attention – that is all.

Wolfs…I get what you said, I disagree, I don’t think they should shoulder any blame at all.

For me, it’s gone beyond the style of play, getting wins, staying in the PL. None of it seems to matter much anymore.

Pardew needed to go as he was the perfect mouthpiece for Ashley. So thank you Palace.

Pardew divided too much opinion. He went, Ashley showed his hand to all, there is no longer any doubt, he doesn’t want to or is unable to give this club what it deserves.

I don’t see how it’s the fans fault for trying to better the club. We either do that or just accept things, in case it gets worse. For me, that’s no way to live and it’s causing this detachment from the club.

King Percy has an element of blameworthiness in this whole debacle. He went along with Mr Tubbs for several years and therefore has been complicit in the demise of the club.
But the real villain is Mr Tubbs – he appointed all these duffers. The whole lot of the hierarchy should not be let near a football team.

Pardew has been here for four years and beside of the season we finished 5th we have flirted with relegation and he has broken every record here – and not the good ones 😉

Who ever came in here inherited Pardew’s team. That’s the truth. Add to the problem that Carver was never going to do any better than Pardew and Ashley and Charnley keeps undermining any manager here than you have a club in crisis!

Remember Pulis left Palace for less (but then again he’s no opportunist)

So who is to blame then? Come on own up…..bet it’s that Ibiza and BandB.

It’s simple to examine the facts here.

Is Carver to blame? Well he is totally out of his depth, incompetent, has zero man management skills, zero tactical skills etc.etc, But here is a man who has been offered a comfy chair and his own parking spot, It’s not his fault he is totally inept, maybe it’s Charnley then!

Is Charnley to blame, Pharr hahahahahaha! This is a man who only remembers his name because people shout it at him all day, To learn all you need to know about Charnley well….(he thinks Carver is the best coach in the prem), another spunk bubble full of delusions of grandeur.

No the blame must be placed squarely at the feet of the grand architect Mike Ashley, a devious, calculating man who rides rough shod over anyone standing in his way.
You have to do things the Ashley way or it’s the highway.

Ashley employed the idiots that run the club, and gave them a criteria to work from, This criteria was never designed to work, and so the incompetent three C’s (Charnley, Carr and Carver) are left to carry the can.

As for blaming the fans…. Apart from that Ibiza and BandB the fans are squeaky clean in all this…Well I am!
