Dummett, Anita And Cabella Start – Cisse, Aarons On Bench

nufc emblemwest brom emblem

John Carver has just announced his team for the vital match this afternoon against West Brom at home, and another defeat which would be our 9th in a row could really set us up for the drop in a couple of weeks.

The good news is that Paul Dummett has been passed fit and goes over to center-back alongside captain Fabricio Coloccini, and both Papiss Cisse and Rolando Aarons are on the bench.

Newcastle (4-3-3): Tim Krul; Vurnon Anita, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Paul Dummett, Jonas Gutierrez; Moussa Sissoko, Ryan Taylor, Jack Colback; Ayoze Perez, Emmanuel Riviere, Remy Cabella
Substitutes: Freddie Woodman, Lubomir Satka, Mehdi Abeid, Sammy Ameobi, Rolando Aarons, Yoan Gouffran, Papiss Cisse

West Brom (4-5-1): Boaz Myhill; Craig Dawson, Gareth McAuley, Jonas Olsson, Joleon Lescott; Craig Gardner, Darren Fletcher (c), Claudio Yacob, Youssouf Mulumbu, Chris Brunt; Victor Anichebe
Substitutes: Jack Rose, Andre Wisdom, Chris Baird, James Morrison, Callum McManaman, Saido Berahino, Brown Ideye

Referee: Chris Foy (Merseyside)

Newcastle will play in a 4-3-3 formation with Cabella, Riviere and Cabella being the front three.

Vurnon Anita comes in at right back and Jonas Gutierrez has been moved to left back, and Ryan Taylor stays in midfield.

There are two changes in the back line after Janmaat and Williamson are both suspended and miss this game.

Moussa Sissoko and Jack Colback make up the middle three, and let’s hope both these players are on form today in what is almost a must win game if we are to stay up this season.

This is what Papiss Cisse has said today:

“It has been very hard during the seven games I have been out,” “I have watched every match and it is not an easy time for the fans, the players or the staff.”

“There are three games left and we have to forget about everything that has happened before and just focus ahead. We have to play game by game and at 200.%  That starts against West Brom.”

“Everyone knows we need points. We have to work hard to get them and we will.” “This team is not about the players – this team is about the fans.”

“The fans are angry, and that is normal in a situation like this because no-one wants to see their team lose every game for a long time.”

“But we need them to come and support the team on Saturday. They need to show us they are with us, that we are together and hopefully we can win the game for them.”

“I know that 100% of the players need the fans. We need them more than ever – we need their help to stay in this division.”

“I know it is not easy at the moment but I say to them ‘come and do this together’.”

We really need to the win today but only one in five fans think we can do that.

The issue is colocinnin at theback
With him in the mix, we will concede at least 2 goals and suffer a 9th consecutive defeat

as I was saying that this could be THE game cos if they are beating the saints and the toffees, they dont deserve to get relegated, If we cant beat west brom at home, then clearly we do and deserve to go down

I feel a lot better with Dummett at CB than Willo, in fairness.

With the Mackem’s winning at Goodison, we *need* a win today. No excuses.

    @7 JackButler
Satka and Dummett would fare better than colocinni and dummet

Play Colo as a defensive midfielder or leave him on the bench

definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over again expecting new results.

With Colo at the back expect at least 2 goals one of which will come from a simple aerial ball

as expected Pulis starts Anichebe who is going to absolutely dominate colocinni in the air the way Pelle did v Southampton
9 goals conceded since his unfotrunate return
expect that tally to rise to 11 goals by 5 pm today

    Time for “Blackley Predicts” …

    Blackley predicts another embarrassing defeat.

    How so, Blackley?

Shit defence. Shit strike force without Cisse. Too many jessies who are scared to tackle and who are more concerned about their hairstyles and their looks on a Saturday night. A captain with a curly perm who’s scared to get in with his head where it hurts. A useless coach who doesn’t recognise the problems and stands mute with his arms folded all game, claiming to be the best coach in the league.

Abeid, Ameobi, and Cisse need to start.

    Is that it, Blackley?

It’s enough to be getting on with?

Dip in later, armchair fans, for Blackley’s post match analysis.

so at a time we need to get something from a game you advocate throwing an untested kid into the side simply through your hatred of Colocinni?

It’s interesting that you blame him for every flaw we have when in truth the whole squad are pathetic

    Totally agree with Jack Butler.
I also think that since Ryan Taylor had his serious injuries he is afraid to tackle.
Abied would be a much better option.
Still if that is team best coach in the premier thinks best then who are we to argue.

Abeid must have kicked carvers dog or something. How Taylor gets in before him is quite ridiculous. I’m actually glad satka is not starting, knew anichebe was going to start and he’s not going to get much help from colo so he would have got destroyed physically. Hope rivière can keep the ball up top against their cbs, tough ask though. We need some of the luck that sunderland are getting.

Would love to know why Abeid is on the bench. The lads not getting a fair chance because of old timers. I think it was proven at the start of the season the young blood fight for the right to be in the team. Not like these bunch of old timers who don’t care but still get picked. Disgusting.
