Paco Jemez, the Rayo Vallecano manager has still not received an extension to his contract at the Spanish club, the third club in Madrid, and Paco has been with Rayo for three years now and his contract runs out in June.
The former Spanish International center-back (21 caps 1998-2001) has been linked with Newcastle, and the rumors may be even stronger now that it looks like Steve McClaren will not be arriving from Derby County, and there surely is no chance that John Carver can get the job, because of his terrible record this year.
But of course you never know with Newcastle.
Paco Jemez – still linked with Newcastle
Paco has been quoted on the Rayo web-site and he has talked of the rumors linking him with Newcastle United – among other clubs – and the fact he has to wait for an extension to his contract at Rayo:
“I’m not worried about any of that.” “I have plenty of patience. I’ve said before that I didn’t want things to drag out, even if just for the sake of rumors, but if we’ve already waited five or six months, we can wait a little longer.”
“I don’t like that we’ve waited five months to sort things out, for there now will be a rush. Rushing things isn’t good.” “What I’m focused on right now, is the end of the season in La Liga.”
“I take the rumors so well, I’m not worried. If something comes, it’ll come.”
The 45 year-old seems to be one of the up-and-coming coaches in Europe, and certainly he’s done extremely well with his current club, who are currently 11th in La Liga at the moment and play tonight.
He has had hardly any money to work with in Spain – so he certainly seems to be getting the very best out of his players.
Paco is also a student of the game and his team plays some beautiful possession football on a par with Barcelona and Bayern Munich, and that’s according to Bayern and former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola.
But some of the reasons he would probably not fit into Mike Ashley’s Newcastle, is he is quite a character and fairly outspoken, and says what he thinks (what!!).
Paco is also ambitious and that’s not a positive the way that Charnley and Ashley run the club at the moment – where the coach has very little say in things – including players coming and going.
And the Spaniard wouldn’t take kindly to the Newcastle owner selling his best players whenever the right offer comes i for them.
However, on the positive side if he was offered the job at Newcastle United he would likely take it – and the appointment would certainly lift the spirits of the Newcastle fans.
And after yet another terrible season the Newcastle fans need lifting – they are simply fed up with the way Newcastle is being run by a very thrifty and rather miserly Mike Ashley.
Comments welcome.

Comment #41Ed, lets forget about coach’s for now, we can sit here all week and say this one may or that one might.
It depends solely on whether we are in the prem to what coach comes in. Let all talk about the facts, we win one of our last two games we should be safe, Hull loses both there games and we are safe. Lets hope Spurs and Man U get there shit in order and beat the Tigers, sorry Hull its you or us!!!!

You need to spend more effort reading what’s written and less fantasising about guys rogering other guys. Then you would notice that I was giving this season’s figures for this season’s league matches at SJP. I didn’t mention or even think about the League Cup (which we have never won) nor indeed the FA cup (which we won long before any of the current sqad were born) nor indeed about having sex with Mike Ashley. I suppose you intended that as an insult, which makes you a homophobe as well as an a*******, so no surprise there.

Don’t fancy Hull to do us any favours
Fancy them vs a inconsistent Spurs
Further highlighting why a point at home in a must win game wasn’t quite the fantastic achievement Colo and Carver have been making out
Away to QPR, there utter sh1te but we’re not much better, tough to call
One things for sure, we sure as sh1t don’t want to go into our last game of the season needing 3 pts because we are terrible under any for of pressure

A lot of work went into the HWTF poll petition.
A fair few people couldn’t see the point of a poll. Lindisfarne certainly didn’t sign it.
I saw the point. The point was to find out whether blog readers supported the continuation of the protests or not.
They voted more than two to one in favour of continuing.
That was three days ago…………………….
er….

Well it is working, the fans are forcing the club to at least pay attention. Which is something. The numbers voicing enough is enough are a tad disappointing though. Too much ‘wait and see’ – even after repeated evidence. I guess it just takes people longer. But it will happen. It must.

Do your figures take into account that the numbers posted as match day attendees are based on ticket sale and not actually the gate tally
As in if your a season ticket holder, or club member who purchased a ticket weeks in advance only to later decide to boycott, then officially you’d still be classed as in attendance as your ticket had been purchased?

Should be empty regardless, but agree, a hull loss and a draw vs QPR should see us safe
If people do go, I hope they make the atmosphere toxic
Ashley has a lot to answer for, but for me Carver and the players need to know we’ve had enough as well

I just used the published figures. I think you are probably right, and that the real figures could be lower – in fact I was literally amazed at that 2-points-per-match difference. There’s lots of published analysis across whole leagues showing a much smaller effect.

It is Premier League policy to count all sold seats as occupied whether or not they are.
That’s league policy and Newcastle aren’t breaking it.

Comment #69Eddie Howe has spoken quite well about on football on the Monday Night Football show. It will be interesting to see how well they do next year if he still intends to try and dominate games with possession, a bit like Swansea. He’s going about it the right way by trying to win the ball back as soon as possible high up the pitch.

Comment #70@BDG: As BandB said, it’s league policy. Actual people through turnstiles is reported and given to the local police – no idea why the numbers (generally) aren’t made available, though. You’d think it’s an important number for fans, but I guess it could potentially reflect poorly on the club.

If we aren’t then I think AO, Fans United, NUST are going to have a job persuading people to stay away, I certainly won’t be going but as Saturday gone just showed people will turn up. If we are safe by then I think people will be ready for a mass boycott.
