If Newcastle Stay Up – Aleksandar Mitrovic Will Sign For £15M

There’s some good news today that Newcastle have agreed to buy 20 year-old Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic from Anderlecht for a whopping £15M – but that will depend on Newcastle still being a Premier League club this summer.

Aleksandar Mitrovic – in Serbian colors

Dragan Duric is the former Partizan President,  where the 20 year-old played before he joined the Belgian club back in 2013.

In Belgium the youngster has scored 42 goals in 87 appearances over the last two seasons and already has 11 full caps for Serbia.

Dragan Duric told Serbian newspaper Mondo that a £15M deal has been agreed between Newcastle and Anderlecht for Aleksandar Mitrovic, whom Newcastle have been tracking all season.

If the deal goes through,  it will be the biggest deal under Mike Ashley in eigth years at the club, and equal the fee we paid for Alan Shearer from Blackburn Rovers which took place 19 years ago.

Duric was the Partizan President when his young striker was sold to Anderlecht almost two years ago, and he received an awful lot of criticism for that, but Partizan were no fools and they had a sell-on clause inserted into  the contract of 20%.

That means they will get 20% of whatever Anderlecht’s profit is in selling the player to Newcastle.

This is what Dragan Duric told Mondo:

“All of you criticised me when I sold Mitrovic and now it has turned out that it was an excellent move.”

“We sold him for €5M and now Partizan will gain another €3.4M – a total of €8.4M of one player.”

“According to my information, the transfer of Mitrovic to Newcastle is a done deal, it is a matter of time before he signs.”

If Partizan are getting €3.4M then the Anderlecht profit is five times that – €17M – so the fee is €22M.

At today’s conversion rate of 0.72 that’s about £15.8M so what Durci says seems accurate.

Obviously the former Partizan President is putting this out because it makes him look good, so it could even be true.

While at Partizan Aleksandar Mitrovic scored 18 goals in 42 appearances and he left the club for Belgium when he was only 18 years old – so that wasn’t a bad record.

This would be a great signing for Newcastle in the summer, and it looks like we could get both Mitrovic and Charlie Austin signed up.

Only a couple of days ago we were quoted as odds-on favorites to sign 25 year-old Charlie Austin from relegated QPR.

If we can stay in the Premier League this season, we will also see a huge clear-out of players this summer as the Tyneside club tries to improve both the quality and size of the squad.

If we don’t do that we could be relegation candidates next season – so poor have we looked this year.

We are hoping the side can be considerably strengthened this summer – but we have to survive first.

Comment welcome.

If we do stay up and sign Mitrovic, Ashley’ll have to sign a new and credible HC to get the best out of the lad.

Carver’s just not up to coaching and tactics so keeping him on as HC’ll result on Mitrovic’s value plummeting.

Now we don’t want that do we…. do we?

Said Mitrovic: “I chose Newcastle because it’s a club with boundless ambition. I particularly look forward to working with England’s greatest coach, John Carver. Newcastle is a club that’s really going places. You just have to look at their current form!”

John Carver: Newcastle’s woes down to ‘bad luck’ – and NOT mismanagement
    – – – – – – – – – – – –

That’s a hell of a lot of bad luck then to even out-do one of AP’s losing streaks.

Would love to have seen some of these players and ones now departed, under a proper coaching staff, where flair and creativity weren’t dirty words

Ash just hasn’t made the correlation that his ”investments” just won’t come to fruition under sub standard coaching.

”as the club desperately tries to improve both the quality and size of the squad.”

No point if Carver, Stone, Watson and Woodman are still here

Even if the story of Aleksandar Mitrovic or any other player came out with a picture of them in a Newcastle United shirt I would still be sceptical, Such is the state I find myself having had 8 years of blatant lies and deceit from this club.

The one thing all supporters should keep in mine when ever they here these stories, it’s time to renew or purchase season tickets, and every year is the same.

Big names linked, season tickets sold, couldn’t get said big name over the line…..NEXT!

If we stay up it will take even longer to get our club back unless The slug has a root and branch clear out since the clubs epic failure under th stewardship of his cheap options.
If he thinks there is a chance he will lose his premier league advertising hoardings he will make changes……but in all likelihood….the wrong ones unfortunately

When Mitrovic is standing on the steps of SJP, wearing the shirt, then it may be believable. Today? Not a cat in hells chance!!!

Sorry to disappoint the fans but an insider at the club told me that Pardew took the line with him to palace and that’s why we did not buy anyone in January, we will not make any buys as a new line has been found to be too costly as we could not afford the agents fees.
