The amazing and complete collapse of Newcastle United this year points to failures at all levels of the club – at the top because the squad was weakened rather than strengthened in January, at the coaching level because the job has been far too much for Carver, and with the players because we have too many of our players playing like wimps, like a number of them did yesterday in that second half.
Yes – it’s that bad
Fans have every right to ask where’s the passion – where’s the effort – where’s the pride?
And the medical and coaching department have to be responsible too, because of all the injuries we’ve had this season, and once again we are top of the Premier League injury table – which is true every season..
It’s not just bad luck as the club tries to get by with.
Since we run with a small squad to keep the wage bill low, we are always in danger every season of having the squad decimated by injury and suspensions – not to mention lack of form.
John Carver has hardly helped things either this year, with some of his bizarre statements he has made to the press in the heat of the moment after losing a game – which had been too often.
So the management at the top, the coaching staff, the players, and the medical staff are all culpable this season for what has turned into a disaster scenario.
But when there is a crisis in any organisation, and there’s one now at Newcastle, the people at the top are always ultimately responsible.
That’s Lee Charnley and Mike Ashley and while they will be cool with any public comments they make, they must be really panicking behind the scenes with all that money that will lost to the club if we go down – because that’s the only thing that matters at the club – the money.
Lee Charnley is responsible for letting Alan Pardew go for £4M without having a suitable replacement in place – by his own admission – as usual they just took the money without thinking things through.
They eventually appointed John Carver to the position of interim head coach, and even decided to keep him in the job, after he had lost eight games in a row and we were in deep relegation trouble two weeks ago.
And so they didn’t do anything to correct the initial error – they compounded it.
The responsibility for this debacle which has again made Newcastle into a laughing stock are Mike Ashley, Lee Charnley, John Carver and his coaching staff, Fab Coloccini and the players, and also the medical staff because of all the injuries we keep getting.
Only the tea lady and others behind the scenes are not responsible for this complete mess, yet they are some of the people who will be fired to save costs if we do go down.
But the main responsibility for all of this lies with the two at the top – Mike Ashley and Lee Charnley.
Whether we stay in the Premier League or not – this club will be in crisis this summer.
