Note To Carver – You Get What You Expect From People

There’s a good and fairly simple way of working out how good an organization is being run, how good it is to work for any organization, and that’s to see how many people want to join and get into the organization.

So if you are getting a lot of requests from outside to join, then generally you must be doing something good, and have created a good place for people to work.

john carver at qpr

John Carver – hasn’t got the best out of his players
It’s not a mystery why

The opposite is also true,  and if people are wanting to get out and leave an organization – like in rushing for the door – that’s an indicator the organization is not being well run, and it’s not good to work there.

So it was interesting that Director of Finance John Irving is leaving Newcastle to take up a similar position at Newcastle Airport, and also Irving’s assistant, David Gilroy, is leaving the club for Manchester City.

And if we are right, then a lot of players will want out in the summer – whether or not we are relegated.

And that’s a good indicator that Newcastle are now a well run organization – and a lot of fans have seen that only too clearly in the last six months.

If we are still in the Premier League next week Mike Ashley will need to make lot of changes in his personnel at Newcastle – especially those is real leadership positions – but we don’t think he will do that – so it will be the same old thing.

And one truism in management is that managers generally get what they expect out of their employees.

So if you expect somebody to be very good and you tell them that – they usually oblige.

Just think how you would feel if your boss called you in and told you they expected  a lot out of you,  and that you were very talented and capable of working at the highest level.

Would you feel uplifted?

The opposite however is also true,  and if you don’t really expect too much out of your employees – that’s what you will get.

So when John Carver has said in his press conferences that some players at Newcastle are just not good enough to play for the club, and they will be leaving in the summer – what do you think John got.

Did the players play at their very best, or did they put in performances that were just no good enough for Newcastle?

As we said, you get what you expect from people, and that’s simple management basics.

Comments welcome.

I think it is fair to say that if Ashley announced he was leaving, not a single soul at that club wouldn’t pour themselves a large drink to toast his departure.

Said it earlier, JC did this at Toronto! Same old crap of ‘I can do the job if I have the tools” and “the players might be just not good enough”. Its absolute rubbish! At Toronto they had one of the top 3 highest invested in sides in the league (highest in average wages paid at the time I think) and he still failed and still made the same excuses!
Sorry but under the right management and set up Krul, Janmaat, Coloccini, Dummett, Sissoko, Colback, Jonas, Cisse, Abeid, and Anita are all at worst solid mid table premier league players, most have represented high ranked international sides.
Add that too Cabella and Riviere who were very successful in ligue 1 (maybe coaching and team hasn’t helped them adapt well) and we have a talented core of available players.
If you add Gouffran, Sammy, R Taylor and Willo, all of whom Carver has played over other fit players so he obiously rates them and 3 of those 4 have made 40 plus prem appearances, then you can’t tell me that Carver doesn’t have the tools to earn more than 1 point from 10 games!
Not saying he should be posting 7-8 wins from 10 games but at least a point per game average can be achieved with what we’ve got available and the sides that we faced during this time!

A couple of points from this article 1, we are not in it as its the 30 top sporting salaries and 2, rather ironic that now PSG are at the top UEFA wants to relax the fair play rules could that be a coincidence?

jay…Oh right, I wish he’d have just said that weeks ago – we could have avoided this mess.

So, more of the same then?

It’s laughable, we know we’ve made mistakes, but we’re going to continue making them until it’s too late. Genius.

Again I have to ask people, why are some expecting this summer to be any different?

If Steve Bruce escapes relegation, l don’t think the smile on his face will be as big as ‘Big Sams’ ….Payback time for sacking me…..fingers crossed it doesn’t happen.

Here’s another cracker from honest john.

“There’s going to be pressure on them, they’ve got to play the game not the occasion. They’ve got to stay composed, as I have, and not fear wanting to get on the ball and play. If we do that I’m fairly confident.”

“They’ve got to stay composed, as I have”

I suppose what he’s done so far, you know, offering fans out, swearing in front of kids at Southampton and publicly trying to destroy a players reputation is composed for john.

You quite literally couldn’t make it up.

    Repost from previous thread

Sorry John but trying to motivate the lads with negatives just won’t work – especially when you’ve been undermining their confidence and spirit by criticizing them.

Trying to motivate a group of lads when they see no purpose, a spirit that’s been picked up when they see a management that’s totally mismanaged the Club, a management that appointed and continued with an interim HC who is not up to the job.

An HC is supposed to be a leader of men, a figure they admire and respect but friend Carver has failed miserabl, failed the players miserably.

If we do get the point we need on Sunday, it won’t be down to Carver but to the odd one, Colbeck for example, whose head doesn’t go down; he might just be our saviour – provided our defence doesn’t cave in.

Fingers crossed, HWTL, HWTF – help the lads survive.

Very similar to one of BandB’s favourites she posted yesterday. That one was a few weeks ago though. This one’s fresh.

Relegation doesn’t bear thinking about I’ve seen what’s happened in the past and it’s not nice.” “If it happened it would be unbearable and I don’t know how long it would take to get over it.”

“I’m not even thinking about it”.

Reading Ed’s blog, the only source of news I read related to NUFC, I can’t figure out if this mess we’re in is caused by a man, who over eight years, undermined club legends, changed our stadium name and affliated us with a legal loan shark, the same man who made decisions and appointments that had us relegated and brought some of the most odious men within the game to our club, OR a crew who over a four week period started a protest to change a manager who oversaw some of the worst results ever witnessed at SJP, which resulted in a six match streak that may have saved our season.

I think K we can all gain encouragement from the fact that John says the lads are going to try hard the next game . Not like the last game where they tried hard, this is an even more determined effort in fact it’s the best effort so far that anyone’s ever done I. Fact you could say that all the other efforts were pants compared

    From the championship? Can’t wait.

Anyone reckon dekka’s a shoe-in to come back? Possibly that leech (leach I know) fella too who’s previously been finance director at SD then rangers.

More cash funnelled away through snidey practices.

Another thing to be immensely proud about.

Love this club. It’s the best.
