There is a very simple way of looking at the results of the matches of Newcastle vs West Ham and Hull City vs Manchester United on Sunday to see who goes down.
Maybe John will be smiling like this at the final whistle on Sunday?
Hull are two points behind Newcastle with a much better goal difference so here’s how to decide who takes the drop:
- If Newcastle win they are safe.
- If Hull win and Newcastle don’t win Hull are safe.
It’s as easy and as simple as that – basically if Newcastle draw it means nothing and it’s no better than a defeat – and a draw is also as good as a defeat for Hull.
Hull must win to stay up but Newcastle don’t have to win to stay up.
On SkyBet Hull are 1/7 odds on to go down, and Newcastle are 9/2 to go down.
It’s still in Newcastle’s hands to save themselves but we need a win, which we haven’t had for over 11 weeks.
Here are the league placings at the bottom
UEFA Champions League Group F
Team | Played | Won | Lost | Drawn | GD | Points |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Dortmund | 6 | 3 | 1 | 2 | 3 | 11 |
PSG | 6 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 1 | 8 |
AC Milan | 6 | 2 | 2 | 2 | -3 | 8 |
Newcastle | 6 | 1 | 3 | 2 | -1 | 5 |

Comment #41About that:
Could something happen around the stadium if the team is relegated on Sunday?

Comment #42Niafron…I imagine “something” could happen. It depends what you mean.
Ashleyout.com have called or backed a call for a sit in after the game as a protest. Regardless of the result.

Comment #43Let’s say it clearly: i mean serious and violent incidents inside the stadium and in the immediate vicinity.

NO violence! That will only work against the fans and play into Ashley’s hands!

Comment #45And nowaday, what is the most popular theory about ” why the hell Ashley do not sell the club right now?!”
I heard many of them in the past, but i guess, there’s new elements since Pard took the “english” leave ( yes, sorry, but we say it that way in France!)

I hope not mate, Newcastle’s image is tarnished enough, it needs no help from the fans to bring it down further.
I will support any and all peaceful protests and boycotts, but will have no part in mindless violence, unless it is against the conservative party.

Comment #47I hear we have no contingency plan…is that because it’s unthinkable we will go down or is it because we are run by idiots? 😀
Good evening everyone!

You know, from Paris, i could be the most violent man in the world, it will hardly be noticed in England…
Was just curious.
What do people say in Toon?

Hi mate.
Is winter over in your beautifull country? (do not answer, was just kidding!)
How, it thought to Danemark some days ago, cause i watched a fascinating TV show: “Borgen”.
Is that a popular program in Danemark?
And is that a realistic picture of politics in your country?

“Borgen” is TV when it’s best. Real life politics are not that dramatic in Denmark, but drama (TV-wise) is something I suppose we are very good at!
You should watch “Broen” that’s a fantastic TV show 🙂
How’s Paris these days?

Comment #54I still say that it is unbelievable that any company (football club) can be run with such blatant incompetence, Nobody but nobody could be that stupid.
Is it all down to penny pinching?
Maybe it’s just a case of appointing the wrong people in critical positions.
Or maybe just maybe it’s by design. Payback for all the nasty things the fans have said and done.
Am I being paranoid? Is that Ashley’s goons parked outside in the blue transit van?
Simple fact is I just cannot get my head around the incompetence of the idiots running or ruining our beloved club.

Comment #55And don’t forget to watch that wonderful television drama W@nkers in Love starring the very manly Mike Ashley and Lee Charnley as star crossed lovers frolicking in the fields of southern England. Brilliant stuff.

Comment #56I think this most recent disaster is due to Ashley thinking himself to be quite clever firebug mate. He had a team in 10th place when Parsnip left. He said to himself “self, what should I do now? I’ve got a nice pot of dosh in the club account and we’re in 10th place. We can’t possibly go down so I’ll do the cheapest, easiest thing possible. I’ll do nothing.” Mike Ashley, football genius.

Comment #61The new jersey is bad ( the white back is laughable ) but I think the blue is a disgrace. The blue is encroaching on the stripes, which should be left totally black and not nessed with. But also its the proliferation of blue..all he needs now is add to a little red and he has the corporate colours of Sports Direct in place.

Strange days in Paris…
We had all this drama of January and this endless econmical crisis (not as hard as it is in other countries however).
So the mood is a bit sad.
Wich at least do not prevent people to fall in love.
In fact, black feelings are maybe even better for that…

Comment #71Hibbit i tend to agree. But I remember guys on this blog ( probably Billson and Co ) arguing about the merits of renaming the ground cos it would generate 4mill a year and this was important. Sorry you tools. Its not important. Tradition is more important. And Carr would have us buy some crap French player like Gouffran or Rivi for that much!

I think there is more chance of him selling if we stay in the league tbh mate because if we go down he isnt getting his money back from a championship club
Though in all honesty Id stick every player up for sale right now, they might try then

Comment #80Niafron…Paris is still one of my favorite places!
I cannot help thinking we started the Muhammad mess…but it was never just about those drawings.
Firebug…I honestly cannot pin point what’s going on and why… it simply makes no sense. Since Carver took over the club has lost close to 12-14 mil. in prize money alone.
How much was it again Hiddink costed Sunderland?
