Newcastle Make Move For Reading Winger

Newcastle are reported to be interested in signing Reading winger Tarique Fosu, according to local press reports, and the 19 year-old England U18 winger is well thought of at Reading and has only just broken into the first team down south.

Tarique Fosu – Reading winger

Fosu made his debut for the Reading first team at the beginning of this month in their last game of the season, which was the 3-0 win at Derby County which dropped County to 8th place and out of the play-off picture.

Tarique looks to have a very bright future ahead of him – and of course Newcastle will be (hopefully) bringing in a number of younger players for the Development squad in the summer, although as we saw last season with Ayoze Perez – if you are good enough at Newcastle you will get your first team chance.

Ayoze had a very good first season at Newcastle and scored 7 (good) Premier league goals in 38 appearances for the Magpies, and he definitely looks one for the future on Tyneside.

Fosu already looks a good player,  and can play on either wing and is two footed (in the football sense) and he has both pace and skills on the ball.

Reading will obviously be keen to hold onto their top young player, but Newcastle have the funds to make Reading a good offer for the player – especially this summer when we must spend the money to strengthen our squad.

The other Premier league club interested in the player are Aston Villa, who ended up 4th bottom yesterday, after losing 1-0 at home to relegated Burnley,  and new manager Tim Sherwood will be looking to improve his squad big time this summer – so they are not once again fighting relegation.

Tarique is the type of young player Newcastle like to sign and then develop and bring him though on Tyneside – although we haven’t been as successful at that policy as we need to be over the last few years.

    Sir Braveheart

” If he brought in Ancelotti and spent £150m we could believe him and lay down the swords, but if its McClaren and 15m then we go to war for our club again.”

Sadly given our history with Ash and the incompetent that is Charnley, only one of those 2 choices will happen…

Charnley! Get the HC recruited pronto – not Carver, unless you want Ashley to be devastated again. You’ve poxed up big time this season and it would be unwise to do it again.

First move – thank Carver for his efforts, wish him well and say bye-bye.

Second – within the week – get a credible HC in who meets the criteria specified when Pardew moved out.

Third – sound Ashley out about recruiting an effective and visionary DoF.

Fourth, get rid of Carver – in case you’d forgotten.

Fifth, tread carefully – you’re walking on very thin ice.

Sixth, if all this is too much, offer your resignation.

There are a few comments i could make about the Club and where we are at this moment in time!

We have just struggled, to get 4 points from the last 10 games of the season. It was, and is patently obvious that JC, over that period of time, totally out of his depth as we only needed to get a few points to be safe and to achieve a reasonable position at seasons end. God help us if JC gets appointed as Head Coach on a fast basis.

    2. It is absolutely useless to link us with any transfers until it is known to all exactly clear who is going to be Head Coach for next season so please stop with all the Crap stories about who is and is not coming or going! No player in their right mind are going to come and play for us until they know exactly who that person will be. If you all think logically about this the Head Coach should be in situ first and then depending on who that is will have an effect on who wants to come and who does,nt !

Never heard of this Reading player but if their is any truth in this story? he will come and if successfull? He will be sold on in January for twice or three times as much as the club paid for him when bought. This is how Ashley works and everyone knows this !

    4. The debacle of the last losing streak was partly to blame on the Hierarchy and partly to blame on the Players but heh, these are the same players who won nine in a row while Pardew was still at the Helm . Now Pardew may get rewarded with Manger of the Season, for rescuing Palace There are a lot of good players and talent at the club but JC just could,nt or would,nt use it properly, which is why the Arrogant so and so is,nt fit to get the job permanently.

    5. So please stop with all the links to players who may or not be bought! Its just frigging Boring !

Finally understood why the tat man gets called Jabba.

While the tat man was bumbling his way through that interview, all it needed was for Tiote to appear:

    “Enough jibba jabba, fool!
you talking a whole load o’ jibba jabba!”

How much are people expecting Ashley to spend?

I’ve been thinking about what will be made available. We should have money off Santon and M’biwa say £10mil, was it £34mil in the bank and £18mil in the club? And the Pardew money.

If that’s right we should have roughly the same again with tv any transfer outgoings etc.

So a reasonable guess would be there should be around £100mil plus available.

I doubt we’ll spend any where near that, but with dollar like that in the club there’s no excuse not to appoint a decent coach and staff. Their wages etc wouldn’t dint that budget.

despite what’s happened this season (and I wouldn’t have swapped yesterday for a safe mid-table finish!) I don’t think last summer’s signings weren’t too bad
    Jack Colback Free
    Perez £1,600,000
    Siem de Jong £6,000,000
    Rémy Cabella £12,000,000
    Emmanuel Rivière £6,300,000
    Daryl Janmaat £5,000,000
    Karl Darlow £3,500,000
    Jamaal Lascelles £3,500,000

if we bring in something like that again including one or two bigger signings I don’t think that would be too bad even if it is much closer to £50 than £100m.
