If Alan Shearer manages to get to some of the Newcastle games next season, it looks like he may be a lonely guy, because the nine friends he has shared a box with for the last few years have decided not to renew their box and season tickets for next season.
Alan Shearer – hoping for big improvement
Alan has hinted that could be the case during last season, and this is what the Newcastle legend has said today:
“I am a season ticket holder and a box holder myself, with nine other guys.” “We have had a box for the last few years and my mates are not doing it any longer, so they are not up for buying the box this year.”
““It’s very difficult for me to go anyway because obviously of Match of the Day on a Saturday evening, so I struggle to go to get to the games.”
“It stops me from getting to St James’ Park with my mates on a Saturday but if I do get a Saturday or Sunday off and I can go then I do love going.”
“It isn’t great at Newcastle at this moment in time but we’re fans and we do love Newcastle United.”
“Hopefully because of what happened last week and staying in the Premier League, hopefully things start to improve.”
It was a fantastic end on Sunday to what was another terrible season for Newcastle, and for the second time in two years we finished in the bottom six – which is terrible for a club as big as Newcastle United.
Alan says some home truths there – even through it’s been awful these last few years since we were 5th top in 2012 – it’s difficult to keep away from watching the team, when you love the club and it’s part of your DNA.
My son Neil was born in Bethesda, Maryland just outside of Washington DC – but he’s still mad keen on Newcastle – so he must have inherited some Newcastle DNA somehow – he does have two Geordie parents after all.
We are both hoping Newcastle can have a really good summer transfer market – but the head coach is the top signing, and it needs to be a good one – like Michael Laudrup for example.
If it’s John Carver or Steve McClaren or both them in a duo – then Lee Charnley will have lost his chance to make amends for his terrible decision-making this year, which almost cost Newcastle another relegation.
And with Mike Ashley’s Sky Sports interview most fans are even upbeat about the future.
Are You More Positive On Newcastle's Future Following Ashley's Interview?

I don’t disagree with that but my issue is purely with Sissoko (and Colo but he is currently keeping his trap shut)
And I don’t blame them for wanting to leave I blame them for the attitude and lack of professionalism mate

If misleading statements and practices form a major part of an individual’s modus operandi. it suggests to me the need for caution and proof when dealing with them.
If I had been publicly and noisily suckered into cheerleading for that person’s good faith over several years, I might have grown slightly more circumspect about putting my happy hat on and repeating the same message all over again.
I also think the idea that those who demand evidence of change are neggers and those who cheerfully accept the same guff over and over again are positive is a busted flush.

Comment #44I can’t believe that the majority in that poll are falling for that Ashley interview. 8 years of this shite and still so gullible!!
– He obviously did the interview because he saw the boycott starting to threaten his business model. No other reason.
– In case nobody noticed, he hasn’t actually said he’s going to try to win something, just that he won’t leave until he does. In other words, he’ll keep us in mid-table mediocrity for as long as it keeps making him billions.
– This is a man who (allegedly… ahem) went to huge lengths to avoid paying redundancy to a load of minimum-wage warehouse workers.
He’s just plain lying, folks. I’d love to be wrong, but what on earth would suggest he’s sincere this time? Honestly – what, apart from just wanting him to be telling the truth, suggests that he is??

Comment #45jazzy…I don’t think I’ve seen the word “neggar” used on here other than being sarcastic in a long time.
Surely you can understand why many fans are sceptical?
The best thing about all of this is that Ashley can prove everyone wrong, and everyone one would be delighted.
I don’t think things will change dramatically, but I really hope they do. It’s in everyones interest for them too.
Genuine question. Do you hope Ashleys interview is a sign of change or do you think it actually is?

I couldn’t agree more with the lack of professionalism shown by players at the club, especially the way most players have carried there selves throughout the season.
As the likes of Neville and Carragher have often stated “who would actually buy a majority of our squad” on performance related attribute last season ??

Ive talked about players coming out and committing to the club and that’s it..
As for the “neggar “comment . that again was aimed at a poster for some reason being as you say sarcastic.

Comment #49jazzy…I shall have another read and see where I’ve gone wrong.
I got the impression from the latter posts, that you were leaning towards optimism and that maybe the club (Ashley) have given the players reason to be commited and more upbeat on their future at NUFC. I assumed that meant something had changed up top? The only thing that has happened recently is Ashleys interview, other than that, we’re in exactly the same place, with no positive signs yet.
I thought the neggar comment was aimed at BandB, as in, I’d rather be overly optimistic than a neggar, like you. Did I misinterpret it?
This post ended up longer than anticipated, I best go re-read the posts.

Comment #52I don’t think I am stupid but I’m clearly missing something if I haven’t took any positives from what Mike Ashley said in that interview the way some people are carrying on. Or is it just simply the fact that after eight years of sh1tting on us he as finally been kind enough to grant us an audience. Could somebody please explain to me what might be different after listening to that well rehearsed charade.

I have been a regular in the milburn for 20 year and was up for the first 6 games with the family. And have since not been again because of the drivel being served up.
fed up of all the lies coming from the hierarchy. And was disgusted in the jan transfer window that we did not add to our squad when we all could see we so gravely needed it.
But are you saying that it is perfectly acceptable to be attacked for being a positive person ??

Comment #56Jail…The conclusions I’ve reached are these:
1) Some people already had faith in Ashley wanting success, but put our problems down to him making mistakes in the people he hires. He’ll get it right eventually…if we stick with him.
2) Some people believe we are simply stuck with him and nothing we can do will get rid of him, so are trying to make the best of a bad situation.
3) Some people have had one too many blows to the head over the years.
4) Some people just love a bit of disappointment.
5) Just look at Ashleys face, forget the last 8 years, don’t you just want to believe him?
Then the less sacractic of them all, and possibly the scariest, the fact that this time he has spoken means he must be serious. Because he wouldn’t openly tell porkies.
As many have said, what is it that Ashley has committed to?
If he’s still here in 8 years, hasn’t one anything, wouldn’t he be able to claim exactly the same thing as he has recently without being called a liar?
Even though it stops at “his door”, it isn’t him that makes the decisions, apparently.

Comment #58jazzy…Where do you think you were attacked mate?
“you have a laughable track record of misplaced optimism”.
I’ve been there mate, can’t really argue with it. Those who defended the club in the name of optimism have been let down by the club time and time again. It’s something we have to take on the chin, just like those “neggars” who I certainly have given grief to over the years did.
Surely if you can come on here and find reasons to be optimisitc, it’s only fair that others comment and even challenge those ideas?

Comment #64Players i would be looking at
Defenders,
First choice – Winston Reid, Schaar, Alberweireld
Second choice – James Chester , Ryan Shawcross
Also bring in Robertson and Trippier
Midfield
Fer, Phillips, Hughes (Derby), Tom Ince, Dembele (Spurs)
Brady
Striker
Austin, Rhodes, Ings
Not the glamorous names we have all wanted in the past but where has that got us in the last 10 years?
For me Dembele is one of the most underrated CM in the league. With a midfield 3 of sissoko, fer and dembele it has power, pace, skill, goals, strength, height and creativity. Both Dembele and Fer would be available for 5-7.5m mark. It doesn’t matter who we sign, without the correct coach it is all pointless.

Reckon thats a non story, he’s probably in Newcastle to stay with Cisse, possible their families may holiday together or their flying back to senegal together. Worth noting N’Doye lives in a yorkshire hotel and hasn’t rented a house yet!
Remember when we had Cabaye , Eden hazard was actually at Benton training ground a few times to visit, we never signed him 🙂

I think the majority of these people will be the same people who had believed we would appoint a quality manager when pardew himself walked out, I myself wasn’t one of them but really what else can I do, go and support sunderland?
If he’s insistant on wanting to remain at this club, I might as well have some belief for now and if things don’t prove good come september, well HWTL get fcuken relegated because if he’s happy do an interview knowing if it goes wrong the media will be hell with him, what the hell is a small fans protest going to do to him, as for boycotts well forget it, they will not effect his cash bad enough and you’ll never see the fans who turn up for the odd game stop going altogether.

Comment #72If we’re in for any Hull player i’ve a feeling it’ll be Hernandez anyway! Been linked with him for 3 seasons now! Could be a good player in future but hes not a goal a seasoner! Very NUFC style player as can play as centre forward, #10 or on both wings. They paid alot too so if he was cut price hed have nufc written all over him!
Id possibly take Huddlestone from Hull, maybe Brady but no one else! The scottish fullback lost his place after christmas.
Id avoid all of the QPR players Austin aside. Loding and not caribg mentality there!
Trippier and Heaton were decent at Burnley. Ings too but 12m far too much!

Comment #76I see in the previous thread that a lot of people are advocating the non retention of Abeid as he isn’t quite good enough.
FFS he is a young player who hasn’t really had a run in the first team and when he has he hasn’t let the team down.
Personally I think that too many young players are released before they had had a chance to develop.
Vukic for example has spent more time in the reserves with us but look at him now with Rangers. Ok it’s a different league but he is currently their star player all he needed was a decent run out.
The sooner we get a new coach and he (or she, who knows) is able to assess the whole squad through new eyes the better.
You never know he (or she) might even insist on the resigning of Jonas.

Comment #78jazzy…I’ve taken a step back.
I don’t see how those two comments are comparible at all to be honest, but maybe I’ve misunderstood.
It’s back to differing views. Neither the optimist or the cynic can be viewed as better or worse fans. I don’t think anyone has said you shouldn’t be optimistic, nor that you shouldn’t share your optimism. Surely though, you can see that not all, I’d even argue not many on here anyway, will see things the same way as you, therefore, the comments will get a response. Is it attacking or is it debate?
I’m not sure what you would prefer, just people who agree to respond?
Yo…You were much more of a “flip flopper” than a fence sitter 🙂 I still hold fence sitting seminars though, if you’re interested? Mates rates. Mainly because I’m a lousy fence sitter these days.

Comment #80The evidence of eight years of incompetence or the evidence of a two minute statement of intent after those eight years that effectively says “we have decided to be more ambitious and not to be incompetent any longer”? Your choice.
Of course, we can all relax and wait and see. But how can you decide not to be incompetent? If the tat man was serious, he’d immediately get rid of all the incompetents at the club and appoint competent football people.
What has happened? He’s left the tea boy to finish the job he started six months ago. So far nothing. The tea boy’s in a quandary and doesn’t want to make a big mistake.
