This could turn out to be a very bad week for Newcastle United, as it appears the club wants to stick with their failed stricture and system.
Sky Sports has reported that Patrick Vieira is out of the running, presumably because for one thing he would want more control in who comes into the club during the transfer windows.
John Carver – will be interviewed for head coach position
Hint to John – don’t talk about your record
Lee Charnley and Graham Carr do the real transfer business at the club, and while the head coach can have some input into the process, Graham Carr is really the person who is acting like a Director of Football and he is the real decider.
The latest news from Sky Sports is that Newcastle will now speak to John Carver about the head coach position, and they have also verified that Patrick Vieira is out of the running for the job, as we mentioned at the start.
Why John Carver is even being considered after his record this year in 20 games, when he nearly had the club relegated – is beyond us – but Newcastle these days don’t seem to be logical at all.
They seem to be parochial and want to keep those already at the club in place, even after they show they are not very good – as was the case with John Carver this year.
How can we ever be successful with that kind of thinking at the club?
This is Carver’s record at Newcastle.
[table “33” not found /]Lee Charnley and company seem to want to continue with the policies Mike Ashley has put in place .which have been shown again and again not to work.
Mike Ashley has said he will allow Lee Charnley to make the head coach decision, but if the Managing Director comes up with McClaren and/or John Carver the fans will not like that – and Mike should move in if it looks like Lee’s reaching that decision.
Yes – the owner will allow Lee Charnley to make the decision as long as it’s the right one.
🙂
After all Charnley reports to Mike Ashley directly, and Lee should now be on uncertain ground after he did absolutely nothing to prevent Newcastle being relegated over the final three months of the season.
Charnley seems to be inexperienced in executive management and what managers are supposed to do in times of crisis..
And while Steve McClaren is said to be a good coach – if we had a choice between McClaren and Alan Pardew we’d probably take Alan Pardew – because he had some great results against the top sides in England.
How an appointment of Steve McClaren – who’s been sacked many times as a manager – can be appointed at Newcastle we have no idea – although he is friends with Graham Carr.
This could be a very bad week for Newcastle fans – because we’d be in the same situation where money is king and there’s no ambition – well at least no ambition to appoint a really good head coach who is known throughout the football world.
This is all very disappointing for Newcastle fans everywhere.
One last hope is that somebody else may be interviewed this week – maybe Remi Garde or Michael Laudrup – and they could still get the job – but it’s not looking good from the outside.
Comments welcome.

Comment #42Looking at the st renewal form in front of me it’s going into the bin like next season these men running things are not fit for purpose. Ma had a small window to starthe fixing things and vieria would have been a good start instead it’s back to the deadly duo of jc or sm or both god you can see the fans camping outside to renew season tickets.

As much as anybody elses.
I must say, this overreaction is quite funny; it’s those that supposedly never believed we’d be really in for Vieira anyway who are expressing the most indignation! Strange. Sensitive souls.

mclaren has got sacked from 6 of his last 7 jobs!!!
Woeful with england trying to play long ball to crouch, failed at wolfsburg, failed at twente second time around, failed at derby to even make the play-offs.
It seems you have to have been a failure to even be considered now. How JC can even show his face is dispicable and the old pals act with carr and mclaren stinks.
As someone said season tickets would have rocketed with a viera type appointment. All the money lost in dropping from 10th to nearly getting relegated would dwarf the pay off figure to get rid of carver and crew.
Carver’s refusal to budge has cost us the chance of ever getting a half decent manager in

mclaren had a one season wonder back then, but failed as an england manager and that left consiquences.. when a person fails it becomes either a stronger person, or not.. and he clearly isnt a winner.. but to expect NUFC will be a rehab center for him, so that he MIGHT find his “luck/flow” again..no f****** way..

Comment #49Sickening. They need to develop a new operating model and spill and fill. Carver, charnly and Carr should all go. Get a proper ceo (like a David dein) to recruit the rest of the structure. Then get a decent manager in, really go after a klopp, not the same old proven to be failures. This model is a complete farce.

Comment #50So the options are:
Charver- a complete loser who if he had any self respect would never walk into SJP again WHO if this was feudal japan would have literally fell on his sword trying to save any dignity
Mclaren -a complete loser who if he had any self respect would never walk into SJP again WHO turned down the job 2 times, including the ONLY time he could have helpful when we really needed him.
if either of these stiffs get the job there is a VERY big line in the sand. I dont see how any fans could give Fat mike another penny.
lets hope this is even more speculation.

SM at Boro – long direct style
SM at Dutch league – similar outing to scottish league ( not worth bragging about )( second stint showed his colours )
SM at German league – he couldn’t hack the tougher league ( Again showed his true colours )
SM at DC – 1 October 2013 25 May 2015 with Championship playoffs runners up 2013-2014 and he failed 2-14-2015
Here’s his wki page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_McClaren
Now tell us how he achieved more with Boro as to any manager at Newcastle? He wins one cup? the league cup?
How many times did SBR get us into champions league?

Comment #54I guess we will never know why PV is no longer in the frame. What transpired between him and Newcastle should remain private.
Was PV using Newcastle to get a better deal from Man City or/and to advertise himself to the wider football world has been mused by at least one journalist ?
Or did the club say this is the way we do things, take it or leave it (so to speak) ?
I thought he would have been a breadth of fresh air at the club.
Does Sissoko now regret what he said about PV ? Chelsea come and get me now has probably just got more urgent.

Comment #55I’ve said it before. Carr seems to be the one making these decisions.
Ashley provides the money.
Charnley manages the budget.
Carr picks the players and the managers.
Carr picked Pardew. There was also rumours of Carr falling out with Pardew because Carr wasn’t happy with the way Pardew was using the players he supplied (which I can understand).
Anyhow my point is Carr is in the thick of it and has a great deal more power than people realise. Carr is the reason why we are going to end up with McClaren. They are mates. Charnley has no idea about footballing matters and defers to Carr on player purchasing and managerial appointments.

Comment #58Antoine Dibierski will be a deadline day signing for the boardroom in order to placate the fans.
“With Newcastle already considering adding to their own football board as they look to take the club forward, Sibierski admits it would be “a dream” to return to St James’ Park in some capacity one day.
But he added: “I’m not being arrogant but I know I could work in the Premier League one day.
“I know about French football and the leagues in Europe, plus the English game.
“I know about Academy football and what it takes to get them to the first team and how long it will take to get them there.”

your correct not that many tbh.
i just find it a little ungrateful that some players can react the way they do and not look at there own faults and the way they have let the fans down over the past.
imo i still believe its blown way out of proportion they knew they was called by there manager (and tbh i doubt hardly anyone is called by the owner as has been argued on here as thats what hr/managers/supervisors ect are for reguarding communication)
i’m sure everyone was thanked after the last game and more and everyone got to say there goodbyes ect.
they was a good servant and tried there best but if our club did have ambition they shouldnt have been used as a gap fill and we should have had somebody who was up to the job playing in there place.
guti esp gets my personal respect for his hard work alone but its not what i question ! its a matter of would it really make a difference if he was told (by carver) face to face ?
my arguement would be its rubbing salt in the wound if he allready knew he was going but they called him in to say he’s no longer needed !
i believe its a no win situation as i said yesterday as there always something more that can be done so where would it end.

Comment #63What really annoys me is that there is not one report floating around.. not even a bullcrap made up one… of Newcastle making even an enquiry about Klopp.
Westham did. We didn’t. Says it all about the clubs ambition. And us really only considering English managers just stinks of Graham Carr old boys network.

I’ve looked at Wiki. He did at Boro what no manager could do at Newcastle since Joe Harvey won a trophy.
Most Toon fans have never seen a trophy paraded through the city but I guess wouldn’t be too bothered with the style if we could achieve it.

Comment #73“McClaren was given the opportunity to return to England that summer with Nottingham Forest but lasted just ten games at the City Ground before he resigned claiming he had not been given the financial resources he had been promised.”
OR
“McClaren was accused by rival managers of having a “pot of gold” provided by Gibson to buy players, giving him an advantage over other teams (except perhaps the biggest few clubs in the league) when signing players. Despite this, towards the latter end of his tenure McClaren was criticised by some supporters for using negative tactics and earning Middlesbrough the tag of a “dull” side. Some observers attributed Middlesbrough’s success to the senior, experienced players in the side rather than McClaren’s managerial ability.”
Sound familiar? Does this sound like a bloke Ashley would want – and if McClaren has actually said yes, he must have sold his soul for a job.

Comment #77I just want to say that it genuinely saddens me as to what has become of this once great club, McClaren is a joke of a manager and is terrible. I’m not surprised that Carver is in the running, I expect that from the clowns that run the club but I’m disappointed in John, if he loves the club as much as he says he does then he should admit that he isn’t the right man for the job.
Being Scottish Hearts get a lot of media coverage up here and they are an example of what we could be. They had a mad Lithuanian owner who just about relegated and bank rupted them and then ended up in the Scottish Championship. The fans got rid of him and they got a local businesswomen to own the club and former player to manage, and they stormed the Championship getting promoted in March. To me that is a perfect example of what can happen when the people who run a club care about it, I know that they were playing against part timers and all that but the point still stands, the people ran the club cared about it and thrived.
That’s what really saddens me, there are millions of people around the world, myself included, who care deeply about NUFC but the problem is that the people at the top don’t and that genuinely upsets me.
