Young Ayoze Perez is already a very popular player at Newcastle, and that’s no wonder because he seems to just love it on Tyneside, and he’s given another interview in which he says Newcastle has changed his life, and that he’s very happy at the club, and doesn’t want to leave.
Perez scores world-class goal at West Brom
How did he do that?
The former Tenerife striker was signed for the Development squad by Graham Carr, but his form saw him play 39 times for the first team last season, and he scored seven Premier League goals to be second in the goal scoring charts to the 11 PL goals scored by Papiss Cisse.
Those goals from Ayoze included the goal of the season for us, when he somehow back-heeled the ball into the back of the net at West Brom just before half time.
This is what the 21 year-old Spanish U21 Intentional has said:
“Newcastle has changed my life,” “It was a hard decision to leave Tenerife but it is a decision I do not regret having taken.”
“It was the right one. I’m very happy at Newcastle and I feel over-valued here. I don’t want to leave.”
“The first 10 weeks were very hard, I had to work hard to get up to speed but I knew that an opportunity to start a game would come with the passage of time.”
“Tottenham was a dream match. The result was 1-2 and I scored the winning goal. That made me grow a lot,”
“English football is very different from football in Spain. Every weekend you’re playing in spectacular settings.”
“The difference is huge. There’s a lot less space. Every opposition team always has a top player and it is difficult in every game fighting for points which have much significance.”
Here’s that fantastic goal at West Brom – it takes a little time for it to come, but it’s worth the wait.
As well as being second in the goal scoring charts to Papiss Cisse, he was also second in our Player of the Season poll to Daryl Janmaat.
Who Was Newcastle's Player Of The Season?
- Janmaat (55%, 2,685 )
- Perez (19%, 926 )
- Colback (16%, 799 )
- Gutierrez (6%, 294 )
- Sissoko (3%, 164 )
Total Voters: 5,072
Ayoze Perez is a terrific young player and hopefully he can stay at Newcastle for many more seasons and score those goals for us.

You did ask what the club might get from it.
Well, the idea that Jonas was of no more use is far from unanimous, even on the blog.
Even if he wasn’t, the manner of his dismissal looks vindictive to many. Of course, I know there are stronger stomachs on the blog.
The club can point to Colo’s statement and say “There you go….even Jonas’s best mate agrees he should go.”
As compliments go, it is something of a shyte sandwich.

You need look no further than this thread for English people writing in English and offering each other out over grammatical errors and consequent misunderstandings. You couldn’t make it up.

Bottom 5 every season with this guy in charge.

It’s a conspiracy theory too far for me. It’s not for players to argue in public that their employer is wrong to release this or that player. And Colo is not saying the club was right. Its just him recognising the inevitability of players moving, something that’s out of his hands. I don’t think there’d be any fuss if the club had just shown respect and handled the matter courteously in the first place. As I keep saying, they’re incompetent. With a skeleton board and management, what can you expect?

Whatever you or I think, it is likely to have little impact on the general sense that another player has left the club with something less than a handshake and a wave.

Comment #51It is not too much to realise that ‘the best coach in the world’ bottled it and could not do the honourable face to face meeting. The embellishment of the captains statement would not have been of any significance if the correct protocol had taken place.

Comment #53I think Siss said he could work with Mourinho. So could I, nothing wrong with that. Show him some love while he’s here, he’s very good.
Vieira: if we don’t get him it’s not the end of the world (or the beginning, if we do). Like the true geordie said about many of our players, he’s a ‘maybe’. Maybe he’ll succeed maybe he won’t.

Was just about to post the Steve Clarke link myself.
Why not, appoint him as HC, Carver as assistant HC and we’ve got a Geordie dream team supported by Carr as DoF.
Ant and Dec as MD and FD and we’d be the best and biggest club in errrr, the centre of Newcastle!

Comment #57Fatty said he wanted to win something, he didn’t say he would invest more money.
He did say it was up to Penfold and Carr to convince him to spend money and they had to get value for money
So basically same as before, other than the fact he now expects to win something for the pittance he allows us to spend.
Ashley may not get involved in the football matters but he has a tight grip on the revenue the football generates ( hence the 34 million in bank sitting untouched)

Comment #59I don’t think Raylor or Jonmas were complaining about being let go , more the way the club got Carver to give them a ring rather than using official channels ( i.e. agent) or Penfold talking directly rather than getting former HC to call them as he’s mates with Raylor!!!
Typical shabby treatment we’ve all come to expect from this shower

Comment #66Don’t want Mclaren. Really don’t but he might be the best choice, better than Laudrup or Vieira…
Reason being is he is a personal friend of Carr (well documented). No manager is going to get any input into transfers, under Pardew we ruined career after career with Carr and Pardew on different pages, books even!
If Mclaren and Carr can share a vision on what should be done with the players that come in we might see just how decent a scout Carr is. Their personal relationship would definitely help.
Also, derby played amazing stuff up until feb! 6 months of beautiful football is better than what we’ve had. His coaching isnt under question and hes a fine record of developing players.
Like i said Id rather others but there are positives for a McLaren appointment

Comment #70I swear I am completely done! Mclaren just shows the ambition of the hierarchy! Since Bobby was sacked we have employed dinosaur after dinosaur! I’m sick of it, nothing will change, same coaches just a new puppet to take the flak, I’d rather have pardew back! The man couldn’t qualify for a world cup with players such as terry, Rio, lampard, Gerrard, rooney. The man is a buffoon and couldn’t even get derby to the playoffs, injuries or not! Hughton got us up no problems. If we went for Viera the fans would have given him time and got right behind the team, it would have also signified that the ‘board’ had realised for the past 8 years it’s been shiiiiiite. A dinosaur ain’t gonna change it! I’m so gutted and giving up on football! Seriously had enough! Mclaren is an absolute moron.

Comment #72If this Vieira rumour for HC that’s been doing the rounds on here, other blogs and the papers is all a PR stunt why has he(Vieira) not rubbished the whole thing and allowed his now to be used in such a scurrilous way.
He doesn’t appear to be a man that would allow this.

Comment #74As ever, the club has failed to tune in to the zeitgeist by appointing McClaren. If Vieira had got the job, ST renewals would have skyrocketed. With McClaren, they will become paralysed. Charnley, Carr and McClaren will form the most moribund senior triumvirate in the Premier League. Avoiding relegation has indeed proven to be the worst possible outcome. It ensured the Ashley plague will continue to survive. Death isn’t good enough for any if them….

Comment #79@theoverratedfrenchman – think the club know they’re are going to spend 40m on players, they’ll be banking on signings to increase ticket sakes regardless of manager!
Theres a fair few rumours theyve already got a 15m striker in the bag, whether its austin, mitrovic or another god knows but i think Charnley understands that 75% of the fan base live by the last club decision. The fact that even when we botcott games we have the biggest attendance in england probably cemented that view
