Poll – Is Steve McClaren A Better Coach Than Alan Pardew?

Alan Pardew was not popular at Newcastle, although in his first eighteen months on board he did very well,  when  in the summer of 2012 after his first full season in charge we finished 5th top – and he looked a top coach at Newcastle,  and certainly shocked us in that first one and a half years.

Steve McClaren new head coach at Newcastle

We’re disappointed that Steve McClaren seems to be the next head coach at Newcastle, after he’s just been dismissed by second division Derby County.

Let us know whether you think Steve is a better coach than Alan Pardew.

How can we actually vote on this until we have seen a few games under him?

both nowhere near the standard an ambitious owner with 52000 fans should be aiming for.

Dangerous animal is someone who knows sweet fa about football and delegates to those he thinks do!!

    Here’s a thought….

What if its not gonna be McLaren? how do we know the papers know anything at all.
The club have not said a word and papers print whatever they can make up.

I’m not saying he’s not a contender it just seems a bit strange that neither Viera, Garde or anyone for that matter have said anything.

Surely Garde would say something if he was out of the running all he’s said before is he has an agreement not to say anything…. if he’s not getting the job that agreement goes out the window. All the papers have said is he’s turned as down because of the lack of galleries (in the mirror no less)..it stinks of BS.

There is little to no transfer activity happening at the moment so the papers have barely anything concrete to report.. the one thing they do know is we’re getting a new manager and if they don’t know who it is then they’re going to make it up… that’s the one certain thing here.

Its the same with our transfers… how many have come completely out of the blue and the ones that haven’t are because of agents (which are no where near as bad for managers if they have them at all)

Even the link that Carr is best mates with McLaren I cant find anywhere just that he spoke to him about Tiote

Cue a random announcement of De Boer, Garde or Karanka

    Pointless survey.

Is the lesser of two evils. Even if maclaren got 100% it doesn’t mean we’re happy with the appointment.

When every media outlet including Bbc/Sky/Bt etc are reporting the same thing it tends to be a done deal mate.

If it’s not McClaren it will be Carver so don’t get your hopes up.

If Steve McLaren was better than Pardew, wouldn’t he be coaching in the Premiership with a team?
I think there are better coaches than both of them that would jump at the chance of becoming manager of Newcastle United…..!!!!

Interesting theory. Perhaps McLaren is being lined up for a DoF role, what would anyone think of that?

Or they all have nothing to print so run with the same story, each outlets story giving the next more credibility.

I know how it works my uncle was a sports writer for the Independent and they’re one of the most reliable.

I think it probably is McLaren and if I was a betting man I would put my money on it but its not definite by any means…. everyone’s acting like he’s signed up and we’re bottom of the league

Or maybe that’s in 9 months time haha

@Belfast – horlix! Just take the Vieiea story – all reporting including blogs made stuff up. That is a fact and can be plainly seen when reading his comments about the coaching course with the Welsh FA.
People then took that, inserted NUFC/City into it to make it look like he said and was asking for something.
The ‘tools’ etc were purely to do with the course – not a club. Go find it and read what he actually siad rather than what then made the rounds in the papers/Sky/BBC etc.

His real words in the context they were said :-

…. but also because the FAW offer their students much more than a box-ticking exercise to meet UEFA accreditation criteria.

As Vieira said: “That is what I like, because there are 24 people in the room and we may have 24 different visions. There is not only one way to coach.

“They teach you to be a coach with your personality and who you are and they try to give you tools for you to put your philosophy on the table.”.

There’s a helluva lot of energy spent speculating that McClaren’s our next HC.

Now what’s gonna happen if this all turns out to be just that and he’s turned us down?

And, we csn expect polls on whether John Carver should be appointed as Head…. ooerrrr

Pardwho isnt a coach in the strictest sense of the word.

1.He doesnt know how to get the best out of players, no one has come out and said Pardwho has improved my game.
    2. He hasnt got a football brain. He needs assistance from analysts, assistants and anyone who knows how to get more out of a team.
    3. Tactically speaking he’s an idiot

Surely McClaren has to have more ?

season is very important to Newcastle obviously. If Mike appoint wrong manager who have to take care team including push team for more succesful, it will turn out to be many pressures back to him as boomerang forces. Mike, you gave some promise words to fans before last game so you must display your intensions otherwise they will protest you harder than you have ever got. To beginning with your attentions from appointed manager who they wants according to votes at first and followed by new top players from many moneys you got

    I voted YES !

Simply because of the fact that Mclaren spent time here in Holland and managed to win The Dutch League with FC Twente which was history at the time and he did it on shoestring budget which will be a plus when considering Mclaren for the HC job.

Pardew could,nt keep his gob shut and you never knew if what he was saying was rumour and in fact true or if he was spouting verbal diariah? Mclaren,s Dutch is not good so most of his intervieuws were in English but most of what he said made sense. I can remember a lot of the Journo,s across here used to take the piss out of him every time they spoke.

    If he,s better?

Well time will tell, a few wins and a good cup run, he will be lourded and praised by the Toon Army but the Army are a fickle bunch and can turn their opinions fast and somone can go from Total Hero to Total Zero in the blink of an eye!

I had hoped for someone else as Head Coach, Remi Garde or Galtiere or someone of that Ilk. Patrick Vierra, would of been okay too.

But hey, Vierra would never accept the sale of his best players in the January Window and would of rocked the boat and maybe left at the first hurdle?

It looks like it gonna be Mclaren then?
