Newcastle Will Sign First Player Next Week

There is what they call an exclusive in the Star today, that Steve McClaren will line up former England defender Micah Richards next week after Steve is appointed as the new Newcastle head coach.

And that comes after reports that both Frank de Boer and Michael Laudrup wanted to talk to Newcastle about the job, but Lee Charnley didn’t take up their offer and was seemingly satisfied that Steve McClaren is the right ma for Newcastle, but he would have a hard job convincing Newcastle fans of that.

Micah Richards – free agent this summer

Well at least he will not upset the boat and Newcastle will go on their merry way of working with policies that have produced only two top ten finishes in the eight years under owner Mike Ashley, one relegation and two desperately close relegation fights – including the season just finished.

When will they wake up to reality?

Steve McClaren likes the big Manchester City defender and he coached England when Micah was part of his England squad, so that may also help Newcastle get their man.

Hopefully Newcastle can sign Micah at the same time they announce McClaren as the new head coach,  and that would get the club off to a decent start in the summer transfer window.

Newcastle will have a lot of work to do this summer, if we are to considerably strengthen the squad, with the performances this season under John Carver the worst that have been seen in years at Newcastle.

We had just three wins and 13 defeats in 20 games,  and they included an eight game losing streak in the Premier League for the first time ever for Newcastle.

Am ok with him bring him on. Then we will b ok at RB & LB so we will b remaing with one CB and we r set. Competition for places is healthy for the team.

Toon22 talks about Ashley needing to be investigated for his actions that are tantamount to match fixing. OMG. Anything goes on this blog. If it’s anti-Ashley, it’s fair game.

If Ashleys going to do what he says that first signings got to be a big name if he wants any fans back on board.
The problem is the amount of players we need to compete even for top 10 is a minimum of 7 or 8 players thats a minimum of 30 million cos our cast offs have zero sell on value.

If my recollection is right, Richards is a right back, does that mean we intend to sell one of the best RB’s we have signed in Janmaat, or do we intend to convert Richards to a central defender, i’m confused ?

Signing players when we don’t have a manager is madness.
What type of player signs for a club when he has no idea who the manager will be or the type of football we will play.
One only motivated by the money on offer.
Also, we would I presume be backing the judgement of Graham Carr. His signings are very poor.

Making of a top top cb injury record makes s. De Jong look good though only reason other clubs haven’t signed him up.

If anybody believes that we are going to sign any good players, you are deluded.
Same old garbage will continue till ashley and co leave the club for good.

So the first player the ‘board’ are going to sign is a right back.. where Janmaat got player of the season? so we replace out best player with an older player?

Anyone think this new attitude by Ashley means we will sell our best players with less competent versions?

hang on, where have I heard that before?

As much as I like the kid he would be a waste of money, especially as Mike Ashley is so unwilling to spend.
Newcastle need to invest heavily in our defence. I believe we need a LB and two CB’s who they will be I don’t know, time will tell.
