Charnley Needs To Call Fans Forum Meeting Soon

The Fans Forum group took some initiative after our eighth defeat on the trot on May 2nd, and they asked to have a Fans Forum meeting so they could talk about the crisis hitting Newcastle, as we looked like we could be relegated after being outclassed at Leicester City and hammered 3-0 – and had two players sent off – Mike Williamson and Daryl Janmaat.

Lee Charnley – needs to call Fans Forum meeting

Lee Charnley sent a reply back and said he would bring the next meeting forward and hold it before the end of the season.

Lee didn’t do that, but with Steve McClaren coming in as the new head coach this week maybe Steve could attend the meeting and meet with the fans’ representatives.

One thing Newcastle must do is get back into good communication with the fans – since it’s never been good since Mike came into the club – but it showed some signs of improving with the regular meetings of the Fans Forum throughout the season.

Steve McClaren  would even be willing to do that, as he would get an opportunity to put forward his vision for Newcastle over the next few years – and hopefully it will include going all out and try to win something.

So it would be good if Lee announces the next meeting and also apologize=e for not keeping his word and having the meeting before the end of the season.

If he wasn’t going to do that he should not have put that communication out publicly to the Fans Forum folks, who have shown great patience in waiting for another reply for the Managing Director.

It would be a great time to hold it say a week tomorrow, with Steve McClaren promising to also be present.

Comments welcome.

The potential of ayew and berardi on our wings with austin up front would be easily enough for top 10 as long as a solid centre back is also signed (Matip?), though every single schalke defender is being linked with a move away

You are probably right match goers as you put it will prefer Colback more. Tell me why is it West Ham and NUFC were the only ones after Jack especially considering he was on a free and he’s British something all clubs want to reach the correct quota for the Prem league rule? Do scouts not attend games anymore?

I’ve always said that about Colback, decent squad player but should never be a starter for us as we should have better quality for his position. A poor man’s Joe Allen is what I call him, and I don’t rate Allen either.

He broke Tiote’s record for yellows in a league season didn’t he? Would have accepted him as good enough for the starting XI before Ashley came?

I think we can pretty much say not one player currently would be in the starting 11 pre Ashley.
    Different times.
So who out the current squad would you play in his role other than abeid ( coaches seem to hate him ) , tiote. (Injured and a liability when off form)?
Colback was only doing what his coach was asking him to do .
Even then he tried to get forward and weigh in with goals .
Pretty much every player under performed last year under Pardue/carver

OT@ 10 Colback also scored more goals and had more assists than any other midfield player.
I can`t get my head round why people slate an honest player who plays to the limits of his ability and give a free pass to players like Cabella who are all show and no end product

Forget about McClaren being in it. It’s unfair to launch him straight into that and I could predict the answers he’d give to any questions right now.

A meeting needs to be held immediately. First question – why did we get the meeting before the end of the season as promised?

Tequila…I think it’s the limits ppl are pointing out you are just taking it all to personal!

Colback might have gotten more goals or assists than any other player in our midfield, but doesn’t that say something about our team and the way we play?

I seem to remember he’s also the player that got the most games?

People harp on about communication with the fans….. how about some commited performances from the 11 lads on the pitch for a start. Then you wouldn’t need your little tea and biscuit party.

Jesper it is hardly personal ? I don`t really care what other people think about a player.
I just think he is very under-rated and surely the fact he played a lot of games should be considered a good thing when you consider how many players were on the treatment table most of the season.
Out of an otherwise awful season Colback was one of the positives

Colback was in charge of all free kicks and some corners pre Raylor inroduction into the team….how many assists did he get from open play?

He scored 3 goals I think in the league, for a box to box midfielder you may consider that as good but compare him to others that play that role and you’ll find its pretty mediocre!!

Like i say I believe he should be nothing more than a squad player rather than a starter, Cabella shouldn’t be anywhere near the starting XI, agree with you he has no end product but worst of all he slows down attacks. I always find it funny when the highest praise someone gets is that they are an honest player, basically that means he’s shite but gives 100%

Pardew did alright in some peoples eyes and is now ‘seen’ within football as some sort of Crystal Palace Messiah. He came from serially being sacked from numerous jobs, he will get sacked next year from Palace he is utter shit.

Maclaren is a major step up in terms of experience and success in relation to Parsnip. If he brings his own staff in we start next season in a much better position than the last in my eyes. However he has the potential to be an utter nightmare ala Pards…

OT He got 4 goals which was 3 more than Cabella and 6 assists Not bad for a defensive midfielder and he took some free kicks but not all by a long stretch.
If more of the glamorous players showed the same desire we would not have been kicking around with the dead men.

Brady would be a good squad addition an upgrade on Raylor and Jonas

He has amazing crossing ability and if we were to have Austin , Cisse and Perez in various games to feed on his crosses that would be awesome too many times last season we would get into a decent position to be let down by the final ball

He can also take a corner and a free kick but not for 12 million !! More like 4 or 5 million

My only worry with the TV money is every team will ask for inflated prices for players which seeing as our limit seems to be between 9 and 12 million for a player we might struggle to get anyone decent in …..

I have no idea why you keep mentioning Cabella to me, I don’t rate Cabella at all, so comparing colback to him makes no sense. As for Colback being a “defensive midfielder” you need to know how to win the ball if you are a DM, he lost more challanges than he won. To me Colback is supposed to play the box to box midfielder role.

To be a defensive midfielder your job is to protect the back 4 not to go off chasing the opposition player in the opposing half and leaving huge gaps for opposing teams to run into. If we pressed as a team colback would be more effective, but we don’t press as a team, he presses as an individual. Like I say he’s a squad player at best and shouldn’t be in the starting XI.

It’s an area which I believe needs strengthening!! Pretty much the whole squad needs an overhaul!!

OT I get your point and I am not looking to start a Jack Colback appreciation society There are very few positions well none that could not be improved including Colback.
My priorrties would be in defence and attack though rather than starting with one of our better players last season.

Easy Tiger, only mentioned Cabella to compare the end product of an offensive player that had not produced and a defensive player who had. Never said you had a man crush for him

That’s my point though mate, Colback is very limited in the role he plays, a box to box midfielder need to be scoring more goals as well as having a better passing range. Willo needs improving on voted on this blog as the best player last season, doesn’t mean he deserved to start games and didn’t need replacing for this season!!

Just my opinion and I respect yours buddy but we need to strengthen the core spine of the team including Colbacks position as he would only get a game for 3 maybe 4 premier league teams as a starter, 3 of those would be the promoted teams!!

Cabella did have the highest chance creation per mins played of any player in the premier league at the halfway point. Not sure where he finished up but stats don’t always tell the full story!!

I am bothered about the Fans Forum as it is an indication of the responsibility the club has towards the fans and not just a one way relationship. Then again I also believed a progressive and modern Head Coach would have at least been interview for the post at NUFC and that didn’t happen either.
