The Fans Forum group took some initiative after our eighth defeat on the trot on May 2nd, and they asked to have a Fans Forum meeting so they could talk about the crisis hitting Newcastle, as we looked like we could be relegated after being outclassed at Leicester City and hammered 3-0 – and had two players sent off – Mike Williamson and Daryl Janmaat.
Lee Charnley – needs to call Fans Forum meeting
Lee Charnley sent a reply back and said he would bring the next meeting forward and hold it before the end of the season.
Lee didn’t do that, but with Steve McClaren coming in as the new head coach this week maybe Steve could attend the meeting and meet with the fans’ representatives.
One thing Newcastle must do is get back into good communication with the fans – since it’s never been good since Mike came into the club – but it showed some signs of improving with the regular meetings of the Fans Forum throughout the season.
Steve McClaren would even be willing to do that, as he would get an opportunity to put forward his vision for Newcastle over the next few years – and hopefully it will include going all out and try to win something.
So it would be good if Lee announces the next meeting and also apologize=e for not keeping his word and having the meeting before the end of the season.
If he wasn’t going to do that he should not have put that communication out publicly to the Fans Forum folks, who have shown great patience in waiting for another reply for the Managing Director.
It would be a great time to hold it say a week tomorrow, with Steve McClaren promising to also be present.

Sounds like Pavel is touting himself for the new goalkeeping coach vacancy once Woodman leaves …..

Comment #43Unbelievable if you stop and think about it. A 70 year old scout who achieved nothing in the game, and a promoted filing clerk (no disrespect to filing clerks) pick the players. And back room staff. A trophy winning ex England manager, has no say and can’t even pick his own coaches. It just couldn’t happen in any other business, sport or football club. The worst thing about it all really is that Mclaren will accept it and take the job, shame on him, and even worse the local fans and media are beginning to accept it shame on them….

Comment #45canuckmag – What exactly did Carr need to achieve in the game to make him a good scout? I didn’t see criticism of him a couple of years ago, exactly the opposite in fact. he has made some great signings, and also a few poor ones, but not every scout will get it right all the time. You have to bear in mind we have been severely limited by the transfer policy at the club

Comment #46I am kind of hoping the reason its taking so long to announce Mclaren is that he is seeking assurances on playing staff and most importantly coaching staff how can Carver go back to being a no 2 after all thats went on ?!?
If he really feels its time to be a manager he has proved that he is not ready to manage a premiership team so he needs to go find his level which is probably Vauxhall conference or Unibond leagues….
Stated in January squad was strong enough 2 months later was saying its nowhere near good enough what a plumb !!

Comment #51Its hard to judge Carrs signings when Carver and Pardew have been coaching them over the last 4 years
We have bought players used to playing the ball on the deck and attacking teams then those 2 dummies have just said park the bus at home against teams and launch it long is it any wonder why they have looked poor ??
Would like to see how the likes of Cabella , Anita and the rest of the ones who are criticised fair after a pre season being coached by Mclaren seeing as Ferguson and the treble winning Man Utd team all rate him
The guy is a winner in that he has been involved in winning things as a coach and a manager not like Pardew and Carver who say they are winners but have never won anything in their careers !!!

Comment #53Carr, probably a very good scout that has been put into a position where he has more responsibility then he knows how to handle, or is capable of handling.
Colback, probably our best midfielder this season, but that is more a very damming indictment of our other midfielders than a statement of his ability. If we want to move forward he is a sub, a starter for a bottom half club.

Comment #54As for the fans forum, fromthw clubs perspective it is a harrassment that they have to endure and stage. From what I have heard much of it is managed.
Is there really any point to it? It isn’t really dialogue with the fans, other than in the most literal sense. Other than when they said they had conducted research into cups being bad for survival, what have they told us?
What has happened with the training ground plans? The work was scheduled to start last month.

Comment #56I’m not saying colback is good or bad but in most of our games this year he played with Sissoko in a 4231. With Sissoko being given the more freedom to get forward. Box to box if you like. Colback was the one who had to stay back the majority of the time so I don’t see how he was supposed to be the box to box player some people say he was. I stress the fact that I say most games, not all as I don’t want to open up that debate again. If you were to compare his stats to anyone it would be sissokos and I would guess colback performed better in the end product department.

Comment #60It’s hard to judge Carr or the signings that we make from his recommendations, the first couple of years we were linked with and made daft bids for some really good players, now we seem to look at shite and buy shite!!
Could this be because Carr has been given a remit for the type of value we should be looking at when scouting players?
Could it be that we sign 5th to 10th players on carrs list of recommended players. By low balling teams with ridiculous offers we end up with the likes of Riviere and now and then we get a Perez? Young talent!!

Comment #62The tea boy has treated the Fans Forum with absolute disdain. He is a disgrace to all tea boys.
The club should have much better communications with the fans than the Fans Forum in any event. It is now time for the Fans Forum to give the incompetent tea boy the two finger salute.

Comment #63Whilst fingers are pointed at Carr for recruitment etc….its becoming more and more apparent to me that Carver is having a say in they type of players that leave and come in….buy British was something Carver amd pardew waffled on about and it seems as though that’s why we are going English in manager and British for players!!

You also say it was just West Ham and Newcastle who wanted Colback.
How do you get to such conclusions?

Comment #67Not questioning the scouting ability of Carr, I am questioning the set up where it seems that Carr and Charnley pick the players and the coaching staff then tell the Manager/head coach, here you go make something out of these. Surely the Head Coach should be saying I want to play a certain style of football and in order to do so I need a certain caliber of player and a back room staff to help me achieve that.

Colback and his agent as well as pretty much all media outlets stated it was nufc and west ham!! As you say though only those attending the games get to see what Colback is really about, silly scouts should try to attend more games rather than watch on TV like the armchair fans!!
Abeid isn’t liked by Carver who wants to see the back of him, Carver sees him as a bad apple that is to opinionated, club are happy to oblige with the lad being told as much before he went away for close season. Straight from the horses mouth, when he joined the club he needed to learn English, his tutor attends the mosque which Abeid attends now and then but he is in no way devout. I also attend the same mosque and I grew up with the individual who runs the language school.

Comment #71British is something that has been drilled into the regime as an excuse for under performances, British is the route we will try to go down, it’s another reason why I believe Carver is having a say…..Add to that Carver stating as much that he sits in on transfer target meetings.

Milner on a freebie is a cracking bit of business for Liverpool. Ings will do a decent job wherever he ends up.Carrol….still have a soft spot for the lad, Injury free can be an handful and would enhance any team up to 7-8th. No he wouldn’t but judging what Ashley said about bolting the horse etc he has no idea either. Carver should have been sent packing a long time ago bit the fact that they trusted him enough to takeover shows the regime are utterly clueless themselves!!

Colback’s agent said ONLY West Ham and NUFC were interested in him, did he? Could it be that it was an open secret that Colback wanted to come to NUFC for the same reason as Alan Shearer? His agent threw in West Ham in order to get him a better deal in negotiations?
So the comedian’s dad is listening to the cones guy? Based on the cones guy’s dislike of Abeid?
