Newcastle Need To Get These Two Strikers Signed – Soon

2:55 pm, Wednesday, June 10th, 2015 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 24 Comments

There are reports today that Newcastle have opened negotiations with QPR to sign their 25 year-old top striker Charlie Austin, who now looks to be our number one striker target for this summer’s transfer window.

Charlie Austin – Newcastle number one striker target

There is news that Director of Football Les Ferdinand at QPR wants £15M for his top striker, and that isn’t too big a fee for Charlie, and maybe Newcastle can get it down nearer to £10M – but the Magpies have to willing to shell out the money for these very good strikers.

There will be competition for Charlie from other Premier league clubs, and Charlie had a great first season in the Premier League last season with 18 Premier League goals in 35 appearances for QPR – and he would  be a rally great signing for us.

Charlie is apparently due to be married at the end of this month and is on vacation at the moment,  so hopefully he will be a Newcastle player before July rolls around.

Patrick Bamford – while on loan at Middlesbrough

Newcastle have also been interested in 21 year-old Chelsea striker Peter Bamford,  and the London side have put a rather high transfer fee of £10M on the youngsters’ head.

But Patrick had a good season on loan at Middlesbrough last season, where he scored 19 goals in 43 appearances – so this lad knows where the back of the net is.

Both Patrick Bamford and Charlie Austin are big lads at 6’1″ and 6″2″ respectively, and they would give Newcastle some power and some goal-scoring threat up front, and we didn’t have much of that at all last season, especially when Papiss Cisse was not available.

An option for Newcastle is to sign Patrick on a one year loan deal, and the news is that we have already agreed a loan deal for Chelsea’s 21 year-old central midfielder Marco Van Ginkel, so maybe we could striker a double loan deal with the Premier league Champions.

Newcastle United and the powers that be at the club have to show Geordie fans this summer they are willing to spend some big money to bring in some very good players this summer – so £25M for these two strikers isn’t like it would be breaking the bank at Newcastle.

We could maybe get the two of them in for around £20M and that would be very good business for Newcastle United.

Comments welcome.

Stuart Pearce giving Mc Claren big compliments on SSN. He said he was present at one of his team talks and it was one of the best he ever witnessed.

Maybe, all things considered McClaren isn’t such a bad choice. This is no job for the faint hearted and he has plenty of experience.

John Guidetti has been released by Man City.A player that we were strongly linked with a few seasons ago. Also was pencilled in to play for Mclarens old team Fc Twente but fell through.Maybe a player we could go for and a very good player and of the right age

Guidetti, Vlaar and Richards are 3 players we should be signing

TFL – these “Free Transfers” are bloody expensive mate – no wonder we can’t (wont) compete!!!

Think we should just hold our breath in case it’s George Burley they’re unveiling. You don’t know with this lot.

Sissoko needs to go – he is so desperate to get out of here just sell him. I think he will realise that he is in the same position as Cabaye was though, the big teams he is whoring himself out to will have him on bench duty 90% of the time – same as Remy.

Would take Van Ginkel, if he shows his ability then I will take 1 year worth of top player, just need to have a plan in place for when he leaves – Remy did well for us while he was here, we needed his goals.

Would love to see Austin, van Ginkel and a CB in before end of June – maybe dreaming a bit but Im enjoying seeing some positive action.

ToonfromLeeds – Add Glen Johnson to that list and we would be much stronger already and that’s only with freebies.

Then buy Austin and perhaps Bamford and say a skillful winger and we are much much stronger.

Rumors has it that Austin is being chased by WHU and Southampton, Newcastle approached him but offered below his valuation his agent’s are not impressed.

What is the point of making loan deals without the option to buy. We are the seventh richest club in the league ffs. If it is true it again shows that they are not building for the future but to scrape by season to season putting more dosh in the fat mans coffers.

I heard something simular last night that we had offered 14 but QPR wanted 15.

Taking it with a pinch of salt until I hear more about it.

Are you suggesting NUFC don’t have a plan? Perish the thought!

    Pearce’s view

Agree with all that. Complete waste of time without an option to buy in there first, price for the player included at the begining of the loan dral also if we decide to purchase. No haggling at the end of his loan spell.

Cheap and nasty way to run a club without a purchase fee included.

  • 18 NezzaNUFC // Jun 10, 2015 at 3:24 PM

It’s the same situation as to what happened with PEA and others

Other teams put a price on there players then Newcastle have the cheek to offer lower.

  • 19 ToonFromLeeds // Jun 10, 2015 at 3:25 PM

    JP agree

Aye deffo, and how come Swansea can pay 90k a week wages and we can’t.. Pfft. Load of sh1te.

They need to shelve the greedy goings on and open the purse strings. Sick of being shown how it’s done by West Ham, Southampton and Swansea.

Wait until the first game, see where we are then in terms of personnel then it is fair to judge if there is a change or its the same over again.

If it is the right player then i dont think a loan is bad, Atletico took courtois without the option to buy, did well for all parties for 2 or 3 years.

  • 23 JP...from The Rock // Jun 10, 2015 at 3:41 PM

JDdubai – Yeah it worked with Lukaku and Everton. It wasn’t an option to buy and they re-loaned him and then stumped up the cash after his second loan there. Lukaku was obviously impressed and happy to sign for them as he felt he was more of an Everton player than a Chelsea player.

It could work for us and it could backfire badly just like it did with Remy. It’s a 50/50 but it could help us loads in the short term too.

  • 24 Mr Magpie // Jun 10, 2015 at 3:48 PM

Keeping things in perspective with what we are likely to spend as talk of Martins Indi at 20 m+ & Berahino also at 20m+ is highly unlikely to happen.

I think Austin must be the priority, would also be happy to see Van Ginkel come in as long as it is with an option to buy included.

Richards & Guidetti on free transfers from Man City would boost the squad without breaking the bank.

I would also like to see Mings from Ipswich or Garbutt from Everton brought in for left back competition with Haidara

Then we need to be focussing on the defence with at least two centre backs being brought in plenty of talent across Europe that would be within our budget as most English talent would be out of our price range under Ashley.

We could get any of these from Kongolo from Feyenoord, Van Dijk from Celtic, Gouweleeuw from AZ, Rudiger from Stutgart, Badsturber from Bayern, N’kolou from Marseille, Matip from Schalke, Umtiti from Lyon, Martinez from Sociedad, Savic from Fiorentina…all much better than what we have, young to fit our policy & probably none over 10m so not overly expensive but would all boost our ailing defence…really no excuses left now to not change that championship defence!!
