Newcastle Could Miss Out On This Player Next Week

9:05 am, Saturday, June 13th, 2015 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 195 Comments

The Sun is reporting today that it will be Aston Villa who will sign 26 year-old free agent Micah Richards from Manchester City and not Newcastle, who are also reported to be interested in the former England International defender.

Micah Richards _3204529b

Micah Richards – while on loan at Fiorentina last season

The Sun is reporting that when Micah returns from vacation next week he will take his medical at Villa,  and if all is OK then he’ll sign along the dotted line for Aston Villa, and it will be a first success in the summer transfer window for new manager Tim Sherwood.

Newcastle need to bring in at least one new center-back this summer, with some of our central defenders leaving the club – and news yesterday that 31 year-old Mike Williamson was getting close to joining Leeds United.

Sunderland are the other club said to be keen to sign the 13 times capped Manchester City defender and apparently have offered him £90K/week in wages to sign for the Black Cats, but Micah turned that down and will sign for Villa.

Newcastle do have some other central defender targets and we hope the Magpies  will be going after Celtic’s 23 year-old Dutch center-back Virgil van Dijk.

Newcastle were reported to be close to signing the 6’4″ Dutch U21 International at the end of last summer’s transfer window – but didn’t.

Virgil was supposed to be a replacement for Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa who we had loaned out to Roma for the season.

That meant we had only three experienced center-backs last season, and when that was reduced to two on January 1st, when Steven Taylor ruptured his Achilles.

Why didn’t we get a center-back in during the January transfer window to strengthen the squad, and we wondered why we struggled in defense this year?

That was just one of the big mistakes Lee Charnley made in January.

Micah Richrads would have been a decent signing for Newcastle, but we do have other targets, and as long as we bring in at least one good central defender this summer, we’ll be happy enough.

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

Remy always wanted to follow the money trail to London

  • 2 Ron Knee // Jun 13, 2015 at 9:09 AM

I used to watch Bob in his heyday. He was an excellent captain. Unfortunately, it’s not that Moncur who disappoints us today. By taking the Ashley shilling he has become as complicit as the rest of the buffoons running our club.

  • 3 jesperfuglsang - capt'n awesome of the lemon crew // Jun 13, 2015 at 9:10 AM

Isn’t Bob like 70? What’s he bringing to the board anyway…coffee and cake 😉

  • 4 chasing_rabbits // Jun 13, 2015 at 9:12 AM

As soon as Villa came in, Richards was always off there. Apparently he’s very good mates with Delph & Agbonlahor & has supported Villa all his life. Shame though, he would have been a good signing for anyone of the 3 mentioned.

  • 5 ronaldo aarons // Jun 13, 2015 at 9:15 AM

Missing out on Richards is a bullet dodged, too injury prone so we can’t have him and Taylor as 4 senior centre backs. Positionally he is poor especially when he plays at cb and often gets exposed. Van dijk is another I think is vastly overrated especially at the price they are looking for.

  • 6 Ron Knee // Jun 13, 2015 at 9:17 AM

Yes. He’s the same age as Carr.

  • 7 chasing_rabbits // Jun 13, 2015 at 9:18 AM

    Rolando @ 5

Who would you be targeting as CB’s? I wouldn’t mind Shawcross

  • 9 mickalfas // Jun 13, 2015 at 9:24 AM

How can we only need 1 CB ,the whole defence needs strenghtening as well as the strike force
The squad needs a complete overhaul imo, this is not going to be a quick fix ,it’ll have to be over a few transfer windows or years
If you think fatty is going to spend £60m now ,you’re deluded ,max £30m net on 8 players minimum, you can imagine the quality thats on the way
Austins a done deal my arse, season tickets not sold yet?

  • 10 chasing_rabbits // Jun 13, 2015 at 9:30 AM

Be interesting to ser where McClaren plays Dummett. Most agreed he makes a better CB than LB. Another player who needs the correct coaching.

  • 11 John Tudor // Jun 13, 2015 at 9:31 AM

possibly we will miss out on all our targets
    we are tarnished beyond belief

  • 12 Laurent Robert 32 // Jun 13, 2015 at 9:31 AM

As I’ve mentioned before, we need a number of players just to get back to the ‘small’ squad that we had previously.

Fans shouldn’t be jumping for joy even if we sign 5 players. We need more than that just to replace the bodies who have left.

It is very misleading, yet could be portrayed as ambitious signing, say, 5 players. In reality it is not. Don’t be fooled.

  • 13 mickalfas // Jun 13, 2015 at 9:33 AM

Ashley needs to realise a 2 minute trolley dash around shite direct is no incentive for players on £50k a week
    Splash the cash fatty
    Ashley OUT NOW!!

  • 14 aussiemag // Jun 13, 2015 at 9:38 AM

ED the heading should read WE WILL MISS OUT ON THIS PLAYER NEXT WEEK. I am hearing of us looking and talking to multiple targets this window, sounds like the same old broken record for mine.

At the end of the window we will have one new striker, one new play maker and one new defender.

I suppose that’s better than nothing though.

McClaren has already stated that FAT CASHLEY is wanting top 8 or higher. He wanted top 10 last season and we where nearly relegated. So on those odds that should put us around 12th place this year.

Sorry for the negative comments lads but even though i think he is a very good businessman whilst he is running the club that’s all we will be is a business not a force to be reckoned with which is what we all want NUFC to be

  • 15 toonbrother // Jun 13, 2015 at 9:38 AM

    we dont need richards
the biggest upgrade we can make to the team is sacking colo

  • 16 ronaldo aarons // Jun 13, 2015 at 9:41 AM

    Chasing rabbits at 8
I would prefer a player with prem experience but I don’t see anyone worth getting that would actually come to us. Shawcross would be good but I really don’t seen him coming to us, hate to say it but he would prefer to stay at Stoke I think.
There are loads of worthwhile defenders out there for us and not too expensive either. We have been linked with matip of schalke and rudiger and they would be good additions. Stefan bell from Mainz would be a good shout, he’s a big defender good in the air. Might not be a ball playing cb though.
I would look at chancel mbemba who has really good potential but we can’t be doing that ATM.
There’s a lad in Italy, rugani. He will definitely be a quality Italian cb, he was good this year for empoli and he is someone we should be going for as juventus are stocked up with cb and might let him go.
Again in Italy, Torino captain kamil glik is 27 but would be a leader which is something we desperately need.
Joost van aken, terence kongolo and Sven van beek are good shouts but not sure we could get the feyemoord pair.
We’ve been linked with aymen abdennour, I say we have no chance of getting him but he would be great.
These aren’t just names like fm etc lol I have actually seen these lads play. I watch football a lot of foreign football.

Richards. M. Dawson (4m) Collocini. Jan Maat

Thauvin (6m). Colback. Sissoko. Ince (4m)

    Austin. (10m) Lambert (5m)

    S. Taylor

What you think??????? Under £30m and all attainable!

  • 18 Jib // Jun 13, 2015 at 9:42 AM

The reality is , our first fixture in the States in Milwaukee is 14 July , the usual timetable is to let the players have June for their hols. The first preseason get together will be about 10th July so that is 4 weeks to get new players talked to and sorted . You can ignore anything in the press for the next 3 weeks as total guff.

  • 19 mickalfas // Jun 13, 2015 at 9:42 AM

Riviere, gouff, obertan, willo, collo ,ameobi, tiote, dummett, saylor, are they really good enough ?
Sissoko wants out,let him go £15m min
Cisse ,sell to Qatar £10m ,goog price for his age
That’s 11 plus Jonas and raylor plus the released players
Might be worth £35m in total plus the transfer kitty ,total spend of £60m for possible 12 players

  • 21 ronaldo aarons // Jun 13, 2015 at 9:43 AM

I like dummett too and haidara but they’re showing signs that they get injured frequently. I hope it’s just down to bad coaching and management though.

  • 22 Slank // Jun 13, 2015 at 9:46 AM

    Chasing_rabbits @ 10

I too think Dummitt is a better central defender than left back.

I’ve often thought that Dummitt and Janmaat would make an excellent central pairing. Both are robust and quick and can carry the ball forward.

The real benefit of having Dummitt in central defence is that he is left footed. It’s a natural balance.

  • 23 ronaldo aarons // Jun 13, 2015 at 9:50 AM

I remember in jan we were linked with jorge mere and david concha. Anyone know what’s happening with them? I like the look of both lads, concha looks a good tricky winger and mere looks like a good defender, similar style to terry IMO.

  • 24 OneAlanShearer // Jun 13, 2015 at 9:50 AM

What’s required to sort this mess out completely just won’t happen. That would be a huge exodus and a vast haul of signings. I recall a journo saying the exodus won’t be a big as expected so therefore I dont expect huge incoming numbers perhaps six with two or three youths. For us to go into this season without the gaps of last season we need

a backup keeper elliot is rubbish and darlow is not it but probably will end up being it
Two quality centre backs all of ours are flawed
a better left back than we have on the books
cover at right back but that won’t happen
    a playmaker to replace cabaye
a replacement for tiote as he’s a liability at times
    a quality winger
    two quality strikers

what I think they will do is sell sissoko and one of krul and/or cisse along with some of the squad players to fund signing

    a centre back
    a defensive midfielder
    a winger
    2 strikers

With due respect French players are not loyal. Never patient keep looking for better deals for their own benefit.

Henry Viera Cabaye Sisoko the list goes on and and on. Look at Gerard Shearer Terry that loyalty.
    – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –

Quite possibly the stupidest comment ever made. Did Shearer not win the the title at Blackburn and previously play for Soton? He had it in his contract he had to be the highest paid player at NUFC.

As for Henry Viera Desailly etc they won everything and stayed a long time until they got to the veteran stage.

  • 31 davetoon // Jun 13, 2015 at 10:08 AM

    Rolando @ 16

You’ve certainly done your homework. You haven’t got Carr or McClaren’s number by any chance. You can guarantee they won’t have drawn up a list like that.

    Slank @ 21

To be honest I think I’d rather see Janmaat at RB. He was a good attacking threat last season. With the right men in the box there could be goals there. That’s if he doesn’t leave. Dummett should stay CB, but not a first choice. We need minimum 2 CB’s if Colo is going, but will probs only get 1 with Lascelles coming in.

I would actually say yes to dawson. Hes 31. More to offer skill wise and fitness wise than Staylor. Would be more comitted than colo. There are a couple of england players who are.worse than him imo. (Jagielka, Jones). We would need another, but we could do worse.

  • 45 chasing_rabbits // Jun 13, 2015 at 10:26 AM

Apparently Gignac has signed for a Mexican side? Another player we were linked with. Didn’t have a bad season either. Carr & Charnley have got their list of targets, but what worries me is there are no back-ups in case we don’t get them “over the line”. Or if there are, then they are probably nowhere near the same standard of our first choices. Its going to be a long & interesting week. Hopefully McClaren laid down the law when he signed up and Charnley’s going to shock us all.

Definite no to Johnny evans, I wouldn’t even say he’s good at man utd and if he comes here he will have more defending to do in a game and will be further exposed.

  • 48 Jib // Jun 13, 2015 at 10:29 AM

I can guarantee that for at least half a dozen players that you currently slag off , after a month or so being coached by SM , you’ll be saying “Sheesh I didn’t realize they were that good !!”

  • 49 YouCouldn'tMakeItUp // Jun 13, 2015 at 10:31 AM

I would say the may be a case for having him in as a squad utility player, as he covers more than one spot, but we run the risk of having to many Jacks of all trades, and no masters of one.

  • 65 optimistic prime // Jun 13, 2015 at 10:47 AM

Looking at transfer targets nothing looks any different to me.

It doesn’t look like we’re trying to push on or go to the next level, all the players were linked with seem to be the same sort (even same player) that we would have signed if Percy was here.

To me we aren’t even trying to punch above our weight, we’re wading in the dregs that no one in the top half wants.

Even though the majority of players mentioned are just paper talk I’m unimpressed. Not one linked player has given me any twinge of excitement or indication that things are changing.

The fans have been used to nothing for so long a bowl of shite is appealing. I’ll hold my overall judgement on things until after the window but so far the players we are linked with are un impressive to say the least.

    Me too 😉

  • 66 LGFUAD21 // Jun 13, 2015 at 10:48 AM

On Saylor who someone mentioned above.

I think he could be good enough if he stayed clear of injury.

Him and Tiote are two of a kind. Always injured and always take a while to get back to their best returning from injury.

Both tend to do silly things in their first few days back from injury but when getting consistent games they can be great to have in the team.

I think we need a tiote replacement but a dm is rarely mentioned on here.

Anita is not a dm. He plays a withdrawn role but more to be a link up player in a possession based team. That is his strength and that is what he did in his best performance for us against West Ham. For some reason he has been pigeonholed as a dm since his arrival.

Abeid is not strong enough and doesn’t have the necessary read of the game to play the enforcer role for me. Though he is a talented lad.

When Colback plays it, it limits his ability to press or when he does press he leaves a hole open.

We all want fast counter attacking football in a 433 (or a lot on here do)

I say we need a proper destroyer in the middle to a provide more protection for our defence (which we didn’t have last season) and b to break up play.

Give him simple instruction: win the ball, release to a more attack minded player.

This is what tiote did so effectively when he had Cabaye next to him.

  • 67 ToonFromLeeds // Jun 13, 2015 at 10:51 AM

    Thauvin Again?? old ground

  • 68 LGFUAD21 // Jun 13, 2015 at 10:51 AM

I actually have faith that for once we will have a manager (sorry head coach) that will set out a clear system and more then likely feed back to the brain trust what type of players he needs to do it.

It seemed that pardew just accept what he was given and didn’t have a clear idea of how he wanted the team to play.

I agree with op that the calibre of the players we are linked with doesn’t seem to have stepped up but I’m hoping that at least we will be getting the round pegs for the round holes rather than square pegs in round holes.

Mcclaren in the past has always favoured consistency and I have faith that he can set the team up properly with the right type of players I in the right position with the right instructions.

  • 69 jazzyp // Jun 13, 2015 at 11:08 AM

As I said earlier Thaurvin is a massive talent but like Cabella has had a very poor season.
Can we really take a chance on having these sort of players in the squad if we are to move forward.

  • 70 ToonFromLeeds // Jun 13, 2015 at 11:10 AM

Jazzy can McClaren get the best outta this kind of player though?

  • 71 mindshaft // Jun 13, 2015 at 11:10 AM

The players we are rumoured to be going for are good enough. Some of our current squad are good enough – it’s down to the head coach to get a system together that they can play in and then try to improve as a team
ManU under fergie had some very average players but he seemed to get 10% more out of them

  • 72 YouCouldn'tMakeItUp // Jun 13, 2015 at 11:19 AM

….and some of those average playes performed better in the team that a couple of the lone-wolf super stars. Look at Veron. Ok, he never looked a BAD player, but he also never seemed to hit his apparent hights while playing at man u. Not a team player, so often looked jaded.

  • 73 Mr Magpie // Jun 13, 2015 at 11:26 AM

We need 2 tall quick ball playing cb’s in to start our attacks off as opposed to hoofing it forward like Williamson does.

I like the look of Van Dijk from Celtic Terrence Kongolo from Feyennord & when watching the Dutch league on Sky Jeffrey Gouweleeuw for Az Alkmaar has impressed me.

De Vrij from Lazio & Martins Indi from Porto would probably cost more than we would be willing to pay.

It is the Dutch way for cb’s to bring the ball out & start the attacks off by playing the ball out from the back which would certainly help in our retention of the ball.

  • 74 hibbit // Jun 13, 2015 at 11:27 AM

mindshaft that’s why Mc getting the right staff is so important if we get the right coaches and they play a system that suites the players we have then add sum we can improve it will take time so the sooner we have the people in place the better……….. the thing to remember 99% of what we read in the press is made up

  • 75 lesh // Jun 13, 2015 at 11:28 AM

McLaren if he’s as good a good coach as what everyone says then hopefully he can turn Cabella into a top talent.

As for players linked with Nufc. Are you seriously trying to tell me that if Austin or Widjanum were to come to fruition that they would not enhance this current squad ??

Richards when fit, is a good defender, but his injury record does him no favours, that and the reported £70k-£80k per week wages. Remy again £90kper week wages plus wants London based club. Both of these players are late late 20’s in age – so my choice would be to leave well alone and recruit players with their years in front of them, not behind them.

Apart from Shawcross & Van Ginkel, they’re all Championship players. I thought we were meant to be punching above our weight. Those are the sorts of players I’d expect if we were relegated. Surely we can do better than that.

    Banjax@ 82

Richards would be a gamble because of his injury record, but Remy is a goal scorer. He’s proven that at 3 clubs in this league. The only thing that puts me off him is his attitude.

  • 94 WLtoon // Jun 13, 2015 at 11:55 AM

We are targeting this one, are in talks with someone else, or, we have made a bid for ?
You know what, all this is total bullshit. nothing has changed.
Charlie Austin does not want to come and wants to stay in London ,and my guess is that when Manure sign Kane , Austin will be on Spuds shopping list, and lets face it, they will offer him better wages.
Van Dyke is a so called TARGET for us but if Sunderland want him and are prepared to offer him above 50k a wk then we are screwed.
The mackems were prepared to pay Richards 90k a wk so van Dyke is well within their budget.
This is the sort of competition we are up against and although we are probably bigger than both Villa and Sunderland ,we dont think as big
This stinks of old hat to me and it,ll take more than a board reshuffle to convince me that things have changed for the better.

Van Dijk is ambitious, talented and is a box to box CB, as he is pretty mobile. Untested in EPL maybe but a good signing surely. Celtic will really miss him. He is real quality.

I get the impression Mac has something to prove and is putting together a set up at the Toon which will work at all levels. If Black comes then its a sign of a much higher level of ambition. Mac is saying and doing all the right things and given good football men round him will get things moving.

Can’t understand the Bobby bashing on here the man has real stature as a player and for his commitment to the Toon.

When you hear about Sunderland and Swansea offering 90k a week for decent players then it starts to get very worrying for us because those are the teams we now compete with !! I cant see us breaking the 100k a week wage barrier this summer which means we will probably struggle to get real quality in

    Mr Magpie

You are spot on re – Dutch ball playing and quick defenders. There’s a reason why QPR with Clint Hill and Dunne and Hull with Dawson and us very nearly with Willo went down. They’re so slow and not comfortable on the ball! Speed and good technique is king in the PL these days

Our real achilles heel is Willo and Colo being the slowest CB pairing in the league, plus perma crock Saylor who turns slower than a tugboat and has no positional sense to compensate.

Yes we need goals, not sure a big taget man is the answer, although Das Bost plays in a passing team so it could work, but until that shambolic defense is moved on and replaced then major problems remain.

  • 118 ToonFromLeeds // Jun 13, 2015 at 12:27 PM

  • 124 NezzaNUFC // Jun 13, 2015 at 12:42 PM

QPR have accepted Newcastle offer BUT Newcastle pulled out for some apparent reason, could be the reason Austin tweeted on twitter.

Berinho might have a 25 million tag price, Newcastle enquired about him but soon turned away.

Newcastle never approached AC nor Richards.

But there are strong links with Ince.

Newcastle want to set up the coaching staff first and foremost before approaching players and it could take 2 weeks until we approach players.

This is what I’ve been told so far but it could be rubbish.

Fully agree and you would hope SMC can also see the problem too. He seems to only be linked in person with trying to attract Ince and Bost at the moment which would indicate a quick breaking, counter attacking side. A good defence is crucial and I would hope a couple of CB and back up FB would be coming in, but using a deep lying defensive line would also suit Collo.

  • 146 magpie6699 // Jun 13, 2015 at 1:33 PM

Am I the only one who gets fed up reading about players we’ve missed out on. I’ve “missed out” on buying lots of things – that I never actually wanted in the first place and had no intention of buying.
Nobody yet knows who we actually wish to sign but apparently we have possibly “missed out” on re-signing Carroll, missed out on Andre Ayew, missed out on Micah Richards – the list goes on. I reckon we’re gonna miss out on Raheem Sterling too.
We all know that we need strikers and defenders in particular but every time one of the other 19 Premier clubs signs somebody it doesn’t mean we “missed out” on them.

I hope he does manage to get the best from Cabella. It’s true his best position is the No.10 behind the strikers, and he produced some real good moments at Montpellier, but we also have de Jong to come into that position (assuming he stays fit) both were very good at previous clubs so hopefully there will be some good competition for that spot between those two.

Most of us were convinced that Carver would be given it full time, or at least revert to his previous post. Sacking him & stone was the first time the clubs shown any balls for a long time. Take it as read, a new coach or manager who has been stalked holds all the cards.

I would be surprised if McLaren hadnt laid down the conditions on staffing, budget and transfers knowing how long the club have been persuing him.

I just hope he is man enough to tell them where to stick their job if Ashley and Co. renege on any promises.

As I see it, he will have a hard enough time convincing players to come to the club due to the adverse reputation gained during the Ashley era.

  • 165 chasing_rabbits // Jun 13, 2015 at 2:21 PM

Shawcross yes, but I cant see him leaving Stoke for us.
Walcott?! Are you serious?! I’m sure we’d all love to see that, but he would never leave Arsenal for us. Garbutt is another unproven player, we need to strengthen with experienced players at the back. Whoever comes in at the back needs to be able to shoulder the blame when things go wrong. Benteke isnt going to leave to take a step sideways. His ego wouldn’t allow it. Especially when clubs like Liverpool express interest.

what we need is a different kind of striker a targetman who isnt easily outmuscled by defenders and can hold on to the ball
someone like andy carroll, chris martin or troy deeney to complement cisse

I made a comment earlier that I hope he laid down the law before signing. It sounds as though he will have more influence on signings, for now anyway. And he’s been allowed to bring his own coaching team. As for attracting players, it cant be easy to sell the club to any player who’s looking to develop their career, especially with all the negative press over the last few months. But everybody to come out & speak about McClaren had good things to say, so I’m hopeful he can still convince people to sign. We’ll see!

Well put sir. Something had to give after the disaster of last season and mistakes were made at all levels by the board.
getting rid of Carver and stone was a plus point. Releasing the dead wood is a positive. transfer listing the likes of Gouffy and Obershocker has definitely got to be a step in the right direction.
We all would have liked to have had a top notch manager like De boar come in, he probably would have attracted a lot more players as would a viera.
I wasn’t over the moon with McLaren appointment but will get behind him rather than jumpingon his back labelling him a yes man. And there fore starting the vicious circle we have had before with Percy and carver

How many seasons have we been told told top 10 was a minimum requirement and seen no consequences for that delivering?

…hot air and false promises is what it is!

That Charlie Austin tweet, was about him joining #CFC not #NUFC deal should be done when returns from England duty

Mr Tickle is he having a laugh?

Jazzy…are you using some of my post to highlight how much you agree with post #158? 😉

That letter to ST holders fails to grasp the point that folk’ll be prepared to fork out their cash only when top players are actually signed, to add to the appointment of McLaren and his entourage.

If they think that a new HC solves everything for the fans, no way Jose does it.

Phase two of the package is get new players actually signed, without selling our top players) and when that’s actioned, ST sales might pick up.

Fans are hardened to the speculation about players and wary of more ‘couldn’t get ’em over the line’ excuses.

Austin’s a case in point – get the agreement firmed up and get him signed!

@joey7barton Cautiously optimistic, best coach and tactician NUFC has had for a long time, I wish him well.

Lesh couldn’t agree with you more

  • 181 Criminal // Jun 13, 2015 at 2:42 PM

He did used to have horses in Lambourn, which if you lived in Swindon you will know. However that was a while ago.

    Afternoon mate
Nah mate it just makes me smile how people on here and who support the club can see things so differently at times. But that’s what makes the blog so interesting when you can challenge others opinion. So long as it doesn’t step the boundaries as some have done on here when the trolls and Wums were in abundance on here

  • 183 ToonFromLeeds // Jun 13, 2015 at 2:46 PM

Criminal doesn’t Charlie have a couple now with Tom Dascombe? and he’s based at Manor House Stables in Cheshire but he used to train in Lambourn

  • 184 Criminal // Jun 13, 2015 at 2:50 PM

    I have no idea ToonFromLeeds

I was just stating that Kilcline would have no knowledge of knowing Austin’s intentions with the facts he stated (which weren’t facts tbf)

  • 185 Thump // Jun 13, 2015 at 2:52 PM

Heh, people still want to sell Jonas and Raylor. They’re gone, via a phone call from Honest John.

  • 186 ToonFromLeeds // Jun 13, 2015 at 2:52 PM

Oh no Criminal I know, I had already suggested Kilcline was talking bull

  • 187 Criminal // Jun 13, 2015 at 2:55 PM

    I know you did : )

I see the Gloucestershire press corps thinks we’ll get CA

Crazy desperate letter to send out. They’re probably going to blame a lack of enough investment this year on fans not renewing season tickets.

The truth is that if we are actually aiming for all that is being claimed then the first step is buying players to allow that to happen. If we do that the tickets will sell and the stadium will be full every week.

Totally unnecessary to beg for season ticket sales like that. And pulling on the heart strings of the fans who are already making a tough decision by giving up their seat!

  • 190 ToonFromLeeds // Jun 13, 2015 at 3:02 PM

    Totally agree sliema its despicable

  • 191 JDdubai // Jun 13, 2015 at 3:04 PM

Austin and Shawcross should be the 2 players we pay top money to get in this summer – of the CBs around he would be the no1 choice for me, tough, no nonsence, would organise the others and proved it in the PL.

Realise it is a long shot but he would be worth paying 10-12m for just to finally get that leader at CB that we have needed since forever.

  • 192 Average_Contents // Jun 13, 2015 at 3:11 PM

Austin has horses? No. Just no.

Another Owen in the making 😉

Too interested in his fcuking horses and not enough football was that little blurt. Plus his voice is one of the most monotonous I’ve ever heard.

All the passion of a dead fish.

  • 193 ToonFromLeeds // Jun 13, 2015 at 3:15 PM

AC Tom Dascombe is Owen’s trainer too 🙂

  • 194 Average_Contents // Jun 13, 2015 at 3:16 PM

    Jib = jane = Jeff = ????

I’ve got a few ideas but I’d get banned for the mere mention of them.
