Newcastle Ready To Sell Papiss Cisse

If Newcastle can get two good strikers in this summer, it seemed very likely that we would sell Papiss Cisse, and there’s news today in the Mail today that Newcastle may do just that.

But we assume it depends on Newcastle bringing in two top strikers first, and we’ve been linked with the likes of Bas Dost, Charlie Austin, Juanmi and Saido Berahino among others.

Papiss Cisse – Newcastle willing to sell the Senegal striker

If we get two new strikers in then we would also have Ayoze Perez and Manu Riviere – who we think will only get better in his second season on Tyneside, after a very difficult maiden season on Tyneside.

The thing with Emmanuel is that he missed lots of chances chances, but at least he got into position for the chances, and it’s nothing that a few goals will not solve and give him that confidence he obviously lacked last season.

Papiss Cisse was interviewed a few days ago, and he was very positive and upbeat about Newcastle, and looking forward to next season.

Papiss still has two years left on his Newcastle contract, but the good news is that his knee has now fully healed from the fracture he sustained last year, and at the end of the season he didn’t even have a limp.

Papiss would again be fully fit at the start of next season, and the Senegal striker would be able to add to the 41 goals he’s scored in 109 appearances for Newcastle so far.

We wouldn’t mind at all if Newcastle keep Papiss next season, and we suppose we will if Newcastle  cannot get two good strikers in – so it remains to be seen if Papiss will still be with us come September.

What do you think?

Even if we do sell Cisse what make you think Newcastle will bring in another striker?

SM favours an 4-3-3 with one striker on top, we have 4 strikers Cisse, Riv, Perez and Gouffran.

    Austin isn’t coming.

    Juanmi gone.

    Bas Dost is 50/50

Berinho well Journo’s need to be sacked for even coming out with these links.

PLayers want to play weekly. Particularly players breaking through reaching their prime.

Why would he come here to play a rotation.

Maybe have a chance if you can offer rotation as a result of European football.

BUT no player willingly wants to play rotation in a league ( + a handful of cup games) alone. It’s crackers.

Even as a Newcastle fan, if I were in Trippier’s position, I wouldnt come here with Janmaat playing there.

The converse would be true if I were Charlie Austin though as we can offer him the platform to become the main man for club and country. While he will not necessarily be at Liverpool.

I’ve gone right off Cisse with his recent stupidity (Spitting and attitude) so wouldn’t be too bothered if we sold as long as we get another top striker in. The question is will we replace him? Probably not.

Signings, signings, interest, interest, rumours, rumours, – How many of this years squad does fellow punters think will start the first game of the season.
    My guess eight or nine

After all the speculation don’t think things will change much

    We’ll 100% replace Cisse.

The club doesnt like having excess players but it will always make sure it has 1 main striker.

They’ll know Perez, Rivi and Gouff are not good enough to lead the line alone as first choice.

They’ll try and shift Gouffran. Rivi will get a second season to prove himself and Perez will fall through the cracks.

I worry for him as he needs to be playing to develop but he’s not quite there in terms of starting up top for us.

For this reasons I’d be playing him wide in a front 3. Getting games but not having to shoulder all of the goalscoring burden. Plus better than what we already have for that position.

    I’d happily keep Cisse.

Sadly he was Pardewed/Injured and missed his best years.

The team make-up did not do him justice as he’s technically a very good player.

Shouldve scored twice as many as he has here and I dont think it was all down to him that he didnt.

Keep Cisse, move Riviere and Gouffran on. Along with Obertan, Anita and Williamson, please.

Newcastle are full of players riddled with injuries or upcoming injuries.

    atm we have

    3x GK
    2x LB
    4x CB
    1x RB
    5x CM
    1x LW
    1x RW
    2x AMC
    4x ST

To Newcastle it wouldn’t make sense bringing in a CB or a ST since we have 4 roles filled.

Newcastle will be looking for a LW,RW and RB and to them it’s job done.

If Welbeck went to Arsenal for £16m. Then Berahino should cost no more than that.

Welbeck is barely much older and had way more experience when he moved from United. Inc a stellar England record which he has continue.

He may not have had the same goals but he had played on the wing rather than as a striker mainly.

Interesting that we are the only club that appears to be linked with Berahino and thats because West Brom have made it clear they want a big fee for him that he just hasnt quite justified yet.

Not when Ings was on a free and Austin is available for £15m.

If we play our cards right, Berahino could become unsettled.

He only has 2 years left and thats normally when clubs re-negotiate contracts/sell.

If we poke around a bit, the situation could force their hand with a sale. He wants out (though he’d probably use us a stepping stone). They dont want to risk his value decreasing (come next summer he’ll be entering his last year) and he’s not worth the £20m they want for him in the first place.

Not to mention the concerns they will have by having an unhappy player in the dressing room of a team that the manager sets up to play as a team rather than rely on individual talent.

Dont see many on here with sentiments like that.

    100% agree.

The better defence you have (inc midfield protection) the more confidence and license your team has to attack.

This is why I desperately want to see a new Tiote come in this summer. Lets start dominating the midfield and provide a foundation to attack on.

I’d like to see Abied in a more advanced role. He could make a good attacking midfielder. Proved it while on loan that he can score. I think he’s wasted as DM.

I’d also like to see Collo if he stays tried as DM in pre-season which would make room for another CB. I think he could do a job there and if he stays a captain have more influence on the game. He’s technically a very good player. No harm in giving it a try.

Dear Newcastle United Company, I am afraid I will not be renewing my season ticket until I see some positive signings over the coming weeks.

Eight years of lies, penny pinching, Mike Ashley enjoying free advertising of a tacky company, the unsavoury sponsor known as Wonga have all contributed to my decision to stay away.

I’m concerned that your statement re not selling the club until we win something, suggest we are going to have you owning our club for many years as there is not a hope in hell that things will the mindset of the club is deliberately not to win anything. I hope you will reimburse all those supporters that travelled away at considerable cost to them when you now admit it was never your intention to make an effort.

You Sir disgust me in the way you have acted on behalf of a much loved club tearing out the heart and soul of the loyal supporters..

I will give you two weeks to make some very good signings or I will be booking up a 32 night cruise so you can say goodbye to my money.

    Regards Oldgit1

The craziest thing about Newcastle is that every player we have been linked with have joined another club in these past few days.

    Trippier, Ayew, Juanmi

we just need to wait for Austin, Berinho, Ince, Hughes, Concha to move on ( I would type more players but I don’t think I can exceed more than 100 players on here 😉 )

@nezza – agree with you on anita mate! Very very similar player to Will Hughes!
Still feel we’ve not seen anywhere near what Anita has to offer.
Wouldn’t shock me if McClaren played Rivi wide of a front 3. It’s where he was successful for St Ettiene and he has the attributes for a wide forward and I’m fairly sure SM used forwards wide (but with less defensive responsibility than pardew) quite successfully at Derby. Remember Bamford doing well on the wing.
No matter who we sign, I’m probably most excited about a fit De Jong and a fit Rolando Aarons. Expect Cabella to push on now too!

Cisse has been the target for megarich clubs in Russia or the Gulf states and would be happy to take their money as his playing days may ( or may not ) be limited by his knee problems. The club know this and he will be gone IF we buy new goalscoring forwards – the maths is that the sale of Cisse will in part pay for his replacements. It’s just business the Ashley way .

Not sure about Rivière. From what most of us have seen he couldn’t hit a barn door never mind hit the back of the net, so for me, Rivière can join Cisse at the exit. Even thinking about keeping some of our poorer performers beggars belief after the near relegation of NUFC. We don’t have the depth of squad (yet) to mollycoddle players in the first team who have consistently shown a poor performance on the pitch, and don’t forget some of these players have had most of last season to prove their worth, but have come up short.
