Newcastle Holding Transfer Talks This Week

News in the Chronicle today that Newcastle will be holding an important transfer meeting this week to discuss the priorities for which strikers to go after, but you would have thought by now we would have put some bids in for our top striker targets – like Charlie Austin for example.

After the season ends, the next two or three weeks are usually spent with players, agents and coaches on vacation, and of course there are the International games too, so not much is usually done during that time.

Papiss Cisse – Newcastle want £10M for him

But it’s now over three weeks since the season ended,  and pre-season starts in just a couple of weeks, so it would be good to have two or three players in by then.

We would expect after the meeting this week that bids will be lodged for our top striker targets, and they include players Like Charlie Austin, Bas Dost and Saido Berahino amongst other.

It has been widely reported that we put in a bid of £9M for Bas Dost and offered him a four year deal – so according to some reports Newcastle have already started the bidding process.

We had reported yesterday that Newcastle are willing to sell striker Papiss Cisse – but only after we have brought in two new strikers – so the news that £10M is the price on Papiss’ head (at least for now) should not be too surprising.

That’s still a lot for a player who turned 30 this month, and it’s a little more than we paid SC Freiburg for him in January of 2012, when he joined Newcastle.

But Papiss has now fully recovered from that broken knee-cap of his that affected him last season, and we’d prefer Papiss to stay at Newcastle.

Papiss has a contract on Tyneside that runs through June of 2017.

It would be good to get say three players in before pre-season starts, and that would convince fans that Newcastle are serious about building up the squad to challenge for a cup next season.

Newcastle have the money to spend – that’s for sure.

Cisse has been in the press recently saying how wonderful the fans are and how happy he is and how much we wants to stay…a sign for sure he wants to go without the fans turning on him

He’ll be off to somewhere like Qatar for his final pay day for sure

The Newcastle board have decided to hold a meeting this week.. It took them three weeks to decide that. It’s like the Ents in Lord of the Rings.. It takes a lot of time to speak Entish..

Yes lets strart discussions about possible targets.
Most clubs have i.d the targets and have began negotiations to get them in.
We are likely deciding who we can sell for a few bob.
Will we make any signings before the deadline is come and gone.Doubt it.
    Hope i am wrong though.

F***in meeting this week narrow down list of strikers they could be after. Should of been done before the end of season – IDIOTS.
And does this mean £10 million price tag for Cisse really mean they are not really after a striker – smoking mirrors or what
Even the mackems have got someone over the line on loan Carl Jenkinson and what do we do have a F•••IN MEETING five weeks after the season ends to decide on targets.
Still reckon we will start next season with at least 9 of this seasons squad

Looks like you’re making excuses for your new paymaster there Ed

Just goes to show how slow we’ve been getting out the blocks…why we only having a meeting this week to discuss when 3 of our so called targets have already been snapped up FFS.

No doubt SM has been told to sell before he buys and that’s the problem…no fcuker wants to buy any of our existing tat so we’re stuck in Limbo

    Waste of space

We signed Perez and Colback in the first week of June last summer.
    Despite the holidays.
I can’t think why we were so quick off the mark signing up this £2m combination.
De Jong was in by July 1.

This meeting should have taken place 2 minutes after the “press interview” of him taking the job. What have they been doing for the last week? All the players are on a break, so it isn’t training. I want Charnleys job, gets paid a fortune, seems to do nothing and then gets the best seat in the house to watch my beloved team.

Apparently Austin wants to come to us. His tweet about shearer was the most obvious “come get me” I have ever seen. He is linked to Chelsea and Liverpool but you don’t see him tweeting about their club record goal scorer.

The lets sit on our hands for another week will only make these targets look and see other clubs. Look at Southampton with the Spanish lad. Monday morning it broke they where interested and then by Tuesday tea time he is holding up a scarf in the ground!!!

“we make our own luck” ” we will change the way we do things” how? the only change I have seen is that Ashley has given charnley the money and stepped off the board, so now its charnley we get to blame. Blaming another person for the same Bulls**t isn’t changing the way you do things.

    Familienangehörigen

    Ha ha ha
That means a family member acts as agent (Messi’s dad in his case )

I think the general public have very little idea how the transfer window works.
First class footballers are young selfish millionaires in the main who as soon as the season is finished and hard training stopped ,just want to chill out on some sunny beach for a few weeks.
Those few who want a transfer , task their agents with the job. The agents spend the time up to July 1 scurrying around sorting out deals with different clubs. The clubs board as NUFC are doing now sit down to shuffle through all the agents proposals.
The players come back from hol and the agents say “Offer A,B, and C which do you want”
The player may say straightaway but more often than not , needs thinking and discussing time , may even go on the internet looking out houses etc. fone around his aquaintances asking about different clubs coaching systems etc.
All this time bloggers are jumping up and down with steam coming out of their ears being very rude to all and sundry.

The window system is crap , unfair and guess what , it was dreamt up by a committee in FIFA headed up by a certain Josep Blatter.

I don’t post on here very often now but having followed the news on our transfers since the end of last season I feel I’ve got to say what a joke we are as a club. I can’t see us getting any of the players we are supposed to be after, I hope I’m wrong but I can see next season being one long struggle against relegation.

Jib if you don’t include the fact that the agents spend most of their time assessing and reassessing their clients’ potential for a strategic move regardless of so called loyalties and personal sporting ambition, hence a nice fat percentage fee payday , then you’re not really helping the ‘General Public’, who comprise the ‘Joe Soap’ and ‘Great Unwashed’ and the ‘Everyone else but the Ever Wise and All-Knowing, All-Seeing Jeff” to understand the mysteries and Common Person Befuddling of the “Transfer System”.

You know until Jeff gave us the Idiots Guide to Simple Business I hadn’t the first clue what went on in Transferenland. I thought players just got left on the doorstep by a stork. Watch and Learn. That means you, T.C. Mits!

SM is on the board,, and surley we want him to be on board with our transfer targets,, so Im not worried about the delay in transfers.. first we get the HC in,, then we start looking at targets to suit him.
Im sure we will have a fruitful transfer window and SM will build a team suited for his playing style from scratch..

still havent gotten in the rest of the coaching staff yet

It’s a joke really. The list should have been prepared and ready so that on the first day of the transfer window they are raring to go to get them signed up, regardless of the manager being there or not. It’s not like we’re waiting for one particular player. We need lots!

It’s just more carrot dangling at work.

    Ashley out.

Any news on shteve’s men he wants to bring in?

    Thought not.

    Any players signed?

    Thought not.

Any news on players we want in?

    Thought not.

The initial wave of optimism that followed honest john and stoneage’s sacking quickly followed by shteve’s appointment does appear to have subsided. New leaf my fcuking arse.

Players we should of been considering we’ve missed out on because they can’t agree on a time to meet to discuss the targets. We finally decide on a player so far down the list that his name is discernable then miss out because we offered a basic wage akin to a zero hour SD worker.

Backroom staff, coaches and assistants not employed in a timely fashion because of penny pinching and reluctance to pay wages over the summer when fcukall gets done. Why have them here when they’ve nowt to do eh.

    Business as usual it seems.

    Fat twat out.
