Reports McClaren Wants Demba Ba On Tyneside

There are some reports out today that Newcastle are interested in bringing back Demba Ba to Newcastle, and to back this claim up Besiktas President Fikret Orman says the Turkish club have received some serious offers for the 30 year-old Senegal striker.

Demba Ba – while at Newcastle

The former Newcastle striker has been linked to a move back to the Premier League, after moving to Besiktas from Chelsea only last summer.

His former club West Ham may be one of the clubs keen on taking him back after Ba scored 27 goals in 44 games for Slaven Bilic last season, and there are some reports that West Ham’s new manager is said to be keen to bring him to the Hammers.

This is what Fikret Orman has said to TRT:

“It obviously shows we made a good signing there are serious offers there should be serious offers,”

“The club will not keep anyone who wants to leave but we do have players we do not want to sell.”

“Demba Ba had a great season and the fans like him but we would only consider a move if we can find a better replacement.”

West Ham have tried to distance themselves from these reports, and maybe Newcastle are one of the clubs that have offered to bring him back to England, since we need at least two strikers brought in this summer.

This could also be a blatant move by Besiktas President Fikret Orman to put his player in the shop window for a summer move.

But just like we are linked with Andy Carroll every transfer window, we also seem to be linked with Demba Ba, who was great for us at Newcastle.

It would be very surprising if Newcastle are one of the clubs interested in Demba Ba – but you never know – and maybe Steve McClaren wants him on Tyneside next summer?

While at Newcastle  from summer, 2011 to January of 2013 when he joined Chelsea, Demba Ba scored 29 goals in 58 total appearances for the club, and he certainly knows where the back of the net is.

Comments welcome.

Being linked with Cabaye and Ba shows just how backwards the club has been run. We sold these players, they moved on, yet the only way for us to progress would be to bring them back. And that’s the truth, they would improve us but the principle remains the same; why sell them in the first place?

Spurs being reported as keen on Cabaye by the reliable Shields Gazette.
Seems like a good fit to me.

    Cabaye, Ba….Where is Santon?

Marvs loan is expiring, so he’ll be returning, no?

This can only mean one thing. 5th next season.

Who makes up these fantasy stories. Absolute BS. I hear McClaren has asked Shearer, Beardsley, Sir Les and Rob Lee to come out of retirement honest lads.

I was reading Tsunki’s post @42 on the last thread.
I saw some potential parallels between this summer and the debate that raged after Pardew came in and we signed Cabaye etc.
The old leaf turned out to be a fig-leaf.
Is there anything to be learned from then about this new leaf?

BandB…It’s something we touched on recently. Logic (which can be a minefield with it comes to NUFC I admit) would indicate that this summer was always going to be a summer of re-building.

Even before Ashleys interview, it was always going to be tough to gauge what was a sign of necessity or ambition.

My thougts are, as you have been saying, the club need to show us their hand. My guess is there will be some encouraging signs by the time this window is done.

As always, it’s what comes next. Will they build on it?

A lot is said about the days of OV. Yes it went ott, however, it was based on genuine belief as we were well positioned to build from there.

With loan fee and salary about £7 million for Cabaye for a year . Seems a bit steep but we allegedly paid about half that for Fecundo Fereyra last season , so who knows

While it is fun to alk about strikers, the real work needs to be done on the back line. The club could bet by with Cisse & Perez, but will crumble without some good defenders.
