Newcastle Getting Help To Sign Charlie Austin

5:57 pm, Wednesday, June 24th, 2015 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 218 Comments

Ever since Harry Redknapp accepted the manager job at Newcastle in January of 2008 to replace the fired Sam Allardyce,  and then changed his mind the next day – Harry has always said good things about Newcastle United.

There was news late last night in the Express that Newcastle were again favorites to sign Charlie Austin from QPR, and Harry was QPR manager most of last season managing Austin, until he resigned in early February of this year.

Harry Redknapp, QPR v Fulham

Harry Redknapp – gives the thumbs up for Austin to sign for Newcastle

Many think that Charlie Austin would be a great number 9 for Newcastle United, and certainly if we do manage to sign him it was be a big boost to the fans.

Newcastle fans need something good to happen in this summer’s transfer window – like we sign three or four really good players.

It seems like Newcastle, Southampton, Chelsea and West Ham are the four clubs still interested in signing the 25 year-old striker.

Harry has put a post up on and Harry thinks Newcastle would be his best destination:

“A move to Newcastle would be the best one for Charlie Austin,” “He’s 25 and he’s scored some good goals and I think Newcastle would be a good move for him and a good challenge.”

“He’s a good lad and knows Steve McClaren from when Steve was at QPR and I reckon he’ll do well at Newcastle.” “He’s rumored to be on Chelsea’s radar as well but no disrespect to him, he won’t make their starting line-up.”

“They only play one up front and he’s not going to replace Diego Costa.”

That’s a very good point Harry makes about Chelsea – and Loic Remy played well when he got a chance last season, but he didn’t get many chances because of the great form of Diego Costa.

And the rumors now are that Loic wants to move on so he can play more than he does at Stamford Bridge.

We had all but given up hope that we can sign Charlie Austin, but there looks to still be a chance.

Newcastle need to get a (big) shot of ambition and make every effort possible to sign this lad – he would be simply great for Newcastle next season – and it could be a great move for Charlie too.

Comments welcome.

G2 Parma have gone bust any defenders there we could get on the cheap?

    Rent a quote Harry.

Excellent news TFL. We could lower bid to 5 packages of spaghetti then! Huzzah! As for the Rednapp news, it sounds like absolute bollocks. Rednapp didn’t want the job as our manager and I doubt he wants Austin coming to us. Why would he? Surely he knows it’s a clown show up in the Toon these days?

  • 4 Our Toon // Jun 24, 2015 at 6:02 PM

I hear we are waiting for the women’s world cup to finish before signing anyone

  • 5 GeordieTwo // Jun 24, 2015 at 6:03 PM

I won’t believe it until I see someone holding up the shirt for us. So much absolute drivel in the papers. If our transfer budget really is 25M then I can’t see us spending 15M of it on Austin.

  • 6 Blackley and Brownlie // Jun 24, 2015 at 6:03 PM

I hear all your saying about Ashley. I don’t think he’s a good owner by any means; far from it. But have we had any better owners? Not in my lifetime. I suspect people’s opinions depend on how old you are.

  • 7 GeordieTwo // Jun 24, 2015 at 6:04 PM

The Japanese striker is excellent Our Toon. I watched them play against the Netherlands last night. I think she’s all of 5 feet 1 tall as well. Perfect for us.

  • 8 Our Toon // Jun 24, 2015 at 6:05 PM

    Geordie two

The English goalscorer against Norway could do a job as well, think it’s forward planning by the club, bring them in put them on zero hour contracts….win win!!

That Colombian forward Lady Andrade looks good

I will make only this one spelling and grammar correction.

Suffice to say, for some reason I post and then see immediately the glaring error. It happens all the time. My mobile’s just had a software update and I keep hitting the wrong keys, which doesn’t help.

She has some silky skills, might even teach Cabella a trick or 2.

  • 13 GeordieTwo // Jun 24, 2015 at 6:10 PM

So if we build a front line of women players, and a midfield of dwarves, possibly we need a back 4 of mountain trolls?

  • 14 GeordieTwo // Jun 24, 2015 at 6:12 PM

We need Vic Keeble back. He was said to want to try taking penalties with his head for us. 😯

Yes definitely YCMIU mate. But only in our worst nightmares. I would take Vlaar in a heart beat. He is solid as a rock. Come on Newcastle, I’m sick of this BS. Sign somebody good and give us a breath of fresh air!!

is that the plan get the sexy women footballers to play so the other team will just stand in awe?

  • 19 Mister Tuff // Jun 24, 2015 at 6:18 PM

Looks like bad news for a new centre half. The official site has published an interview with Williamson who says he’s getting better and has a contibution to make to NUFC – this season.

  • 20 welshgeordie9 // Jun 24, 2015 at 6:25 PM

JFA, with a face like Peter Beardsleys nutsack

  • 21 scottoon // Jun 24, 2015 at 6:27 PM

Willo probably thinking he had better keep his current employer happy because no one else will be coming in for him. Best to say the right things about NUFC

  • 23 Blackley and Brownlie // Jun 24, 2015 at 6:35 PM

  • 24 Lindisfarne // Jun 24, 2015 at 6:48 PM

Please refrain from punting on someones looks in the public domain!

  • 25 Lee Charnley Bunga Party // Jun 24, 2015 at 6:49 PM

Is Williamson not on 20 or 30 k a week ? We will never get rid of him if thats the case cause no one else will pay him that at all !!

Saying that its not his fault he keeps getting picked if Colo and Saylor stopped getting injured and suspended Iron Mike would hardly get a game

  • 26 Rotonda heights // Jun 24, 2015 at 6:49 PM

is there soemthing in the water at SJP that turns people utterly delusional. First pardew, then carver, now williamson!!

What type of (in his words) positivity does willo bring to the team exactly? Every time he plays he gets torn a new one when anyone runs at him on the deck. He has zero technical ability as a footballer and makes saylor look like usain Bolt!

so from Matip and Abdennour we now have the nearly 30 year old derby captain. If we are going championship then at least get someone like Dunk who is up and coming.

Really should have been out the door a long time ago

  • 27 BandB // Jun 24, 2015 at 6:49 PM

I think you’ll have to paint it on your bottom and show it in Fenwick’s window before the flappy birds er….twig….Blackley.

  • 28 Rotonda heights // Jun 24, 2015 at 6:50 PM

    willo that is

  • 29 YouCouldn'tMakeItUp // Jun 24, 2015 at 6:51 PM

But this means willow will be like a new signing. Yay. Our first one over the line….

….ffs. I’d jump off the tyne bridge but there’s a queue.

  • 30 Lindisfarne // Jun 24, 2015 at 6:54 PM

    Mister Tuff

The usual diatribe that was probably scraped together from previous interviews, or scripted. I was hopefully about the number of past tense terms used and the article seemed to be advertising his strengths, but all to no avail no doubt.

  • 31 toonicle // Jun 24, 2015 at 6:59 PM

Wasn’t Willo supposed to be on his way to Leeds or something?

  • 32 croftus5678 // Jun 24, 2015 at 7:02 PM

williamson needs to do a fishermans friend (for cough)

if we dont sign a well established solid cb this window its a huge fail imo as its our most needed position for years and only getting worse.

and well done harry its nice to have you lined up as our next manager if macca doesnt come off >.<

  • 47 Jail for Ashley // Jun 24, 2015 at 7:22 PM

We have Willo, Collocini, STaylor and Dummet with Curtis Good and the Forest lad to possibly feature at some stage. In the eyes of the bean counter we actually have a surplus, goals against mean nothing once you’ve got 36 or 40 points.

Can’t you tell the difference between the worky-ticket Swansea supporter with a JFA fixation who comes on the blog to sneer at Newcastle and the fake worky-ticket Swansea supporter with a JFA fixation who comes on the blog to sneer at Newcastle?

    I can’t.

  • 50 BandB // Jun 24, 2015 at 7:33 PM

And is the real Jib less capable of cracking thalidomide gags the fake one?

  • 51 BlacknWhiteBarmy // Jun 24, 2015 at 7:36 PM

Blackley – Ashley is by far the worst owner. Freddie and SJH at least provided players that filled the stadium, thrilled the fans, scored goals, even the odd shot at Cups and Leagues. Ashley offers none of that which is why I am amazed people still go!

  • 52 clinath@ed // Jun 24, 2015 at 7:43 PM

always wondered, what does worky ticket mean BandB?

  • 53 Blackley and Brownlie // Jun 24, 2015 at 7:49 PM

Lord Westwood, Gordon McKeag, and Freddie Shepherd were worse. In fairness Sir John Hall did well for a little while.

  • 54 Tsunki // Jun 24, 2015 at 7:51 PM

I’m wondering if the fake jib and welshie were simply a means of portraying the real ones in a less awful light. A bit like having a headache and sticking a pin in your toe for an hour. The relief of taking said pin out probably makes you forget the headache for a while.

    A very short while.

  • 55 BandB // Jun 24, 2015 at 7:51 PM

I don’t really know the provenance of it Clinath.
It is a phrase I’ve always understood the import of without ever questioning it.
Its origins may be in those caught stowing away on ships who were forced to work their passage to make amends for pushing their luck.
I would be keen to be corrected.
I wonder who will be first?

  • 56 Tsunki // Jun 24, 2015 at 7:52 PM

Blackley – Ashley the best owner we’ve had in living memory? Hmm. I’d say they all look good from certain angles.

  • 57 ToonFromLeeds // Jun 24, 2015 at 7:52 PM

Tsunki speaking of fakes Belfast said he knew who the fake was and hasn’t been since.
Wonder who he thought it was?

  • 58 Tsunki // Jun 24, 2015 at 7:55 PM

Probably him TFL. Might have been his report to the er.. you know who… experiment. The thick plottens. Never trusted Belfast. Shifty looking, oily character, you know 🙂

  • 59 BandB // Jun 24, 2015 at 7:56 PM

I think Welshie has been looking for a way back after his career-ending diatribe against all things Newcastle after betty slaughtered him a week or so ago.
Fake Welshie, Welshie’s Sheep, and Fake Jib have all added to the sense of a fair-minded fellow cruelly traduced, while sounding exactly like their original authors.

  • 60 ToonFromLeeds // Jun 24, 2015 at 7:56 PM

  • 61 Ketsbaia9 // Jun 24, 2015 at 7:59 PM

Yeah but all of those defenders are hopeless little Juan Kerr’s apart from Coloccini.

Our squad for next season will hopefully look like this:

    Janmaat Matip/Mbodji Van Dijk Kolorov

    Thauvin Grenier Sissoko Cabella Konoplyanka

    Siem De Jong
    Bas Dost

All those former first players who haven’s been mentioned can sod off elsewhere.

We might still be short in the middle of the park with that squad.

  • 62 YoungMagpieFromBurnley // Jun 24, 2015 at 8:02 PM

    June 24, 2015
I did like the link to Van Ginkel, we have needed a cabaye replacement for ages… But first a CB is mandatory, we need about 6 players in this window and at least half of them need to have premier league experience because we have no idea how long they will take to adjust, it’s very risky.

    Vlaar, Elmohamedy, schaar.
    van ginkel

followed with the forest lads would be alright.

Sell sissoko, his only reason for wanting to stay here is because his French manager advised it. He can help fund these transfers.

Loan: Armstrong, Barlaser, Kemen and Roberts and even Satka.

    Team could be:

    Cabella-Van Ginkel-De Jong-Aarons

  • 63 BandB // Jun 24, 2015 at 8:02 PM

Are you denying. Welshie, that you absolutely slaughtered Newcastle, city, club and fans, much before you gathered your wits sufficiently to invent the Fake Welshie character?

  • 64 overtheline // Jun 24, 2015 at 8:05 PM

    Blackley and Brownlie
“So just to be clear. Was I right or wrong to say you need profit or borrowing to buy players?”
“I certainly wouldn’t want to see them borrowing at the expense of the fans of the future. So I’d like to see every NUFC owner make a profit first and then use that to invest in players second.”

Just picked up on your afterthoughts. Your use of the half truth is not a particularly strong debating tactic. Naughty step for you old boy.

It is your conclusion in the second quote after you dismiss the borrowing option which is hopelessly out of step with reality.

Hope that clears it up for you.

I agree with you that blog discissions of money matters are valid, given the model we are supposed to be following provides a lot of cover for lack of investment in the team by Ashley. It really is a question of speculate to accumulate in football. Spend money on the playing side and you get silverware back as a result. When the Toon were big spenders is when we did best in the EPL and Europe.

It is an art and not a science as player spending does not automatically lead to winning things but is sure as hell increases your chances dramatically in the medium term. Good players also tend to play better football (providing the head coach isn’t a total Fwit. Our track record is woeful the last few years and we probably were only just good enough to avoid relegation the both times we managed to scramble up the table in the aslt coiple of games. Either year we could have easily ended up with the Villa outcome.

Can’t compete financially is really won’t compete financially as the rewards from player trading are as good for the big man as trying to win something. This is what is dooming us to the eternal tedium of mid table targets. I really do not believe the man’s PR interview the other week.

Austin and a couple of other signings will not provide us with a side that can challenge on a regular basis and 8-9 years is surely long enough for him to learn how football works as a business – especiallywith his allegedly prodigious business acumen..

  • 65 belgrade fan // Jun 24, 2015 at 8:07 PM

Do you people realize when somebody is constantly
making you idiots? People think bcs Ashley gave some interview something is going to change? He said that only because of season ticket sale, not because he thinks that. Do not buy season tickets, lot of people do that only because they have boring lives and killing few hours with visiting SJP.

I have a hard time chastising anyone who opts to renew a season’s ticket. I don’t live in Newcastle, and as an ardent supporter for many years I cant really say for certain what I would do if I had the opportunity to attend SJP every fortnight. I respect that it is very much an individual decision. However, what I cannot condone is the Ashley apologists who sit on their hands while he robs us of our pride, and condemns us for wanting glory. Blackley is only partly right about him…..he could be a great owner for Newcastle but he chooses to rub our noses in it instead. Much as he does with his SD clientele.

    Howay the Fans.

Was a temporarily successful attempt to rally fan consciousness that has since been turned into a straw man argument by anyone who enjoys that sort of thing.

It used the phrase “if you are not against us you are for us.”
A bit “All for One, One for All.” in intention.
That is now misreported as “If you aren’t for us you are against us” by people who enjoy that sort of thing.

  • 87 Tsunki // Jun 24, 2015 at 8:19 PM

Bandb – curious and curiouser indeed. I have questioned Eds selective administration a couple of times whilst emailing him about these curious doppelgangers. Last time I asked why they couldn’t be filtered to only allow reserved names. After all, you try making a yahoo account with your own name and see what happens. If he can insert an exclusion string of ‘HWTF’ surely he can go the extra centimetre and disallow duplicates? Given that most account creators can only originate from at best two or three IP address locations (their home and work router addresses and maybe three mobile data centre one) it shouldn’t be technologically beyond a site administrator to bolt down to two or three names and no more.

  • 108 Blackley and Brownlie // Jun 24, 2015 at 8:35 PM

I’m not sure what you mean by my use ofvhalf truths. You took issue and disparaged my comment thay you can only buy players by making profits or borrowing.

Other clubs appear to be borrowing simply on the strength of improved prospects for future income. That is perfectly legitimate and can make good business sense, especially in general business. Buy in football it’s a very risky game that can give you short term success until the day of reckoning.

With the current incompetents in charge, I wouldn’t even trust the club with £10,000 of my own money. I want to see that the club can make profits before they borrow to invest.

It’s fair enough for them to spend profits on players but it’s another ball game for them to borrow to do it. It’s very easy in football to spend £100m and have next to nothing to show for it in 12 to 24 months. That is hardly out of step with reality under the tea boy and the old man.

And to win cups as you talk about, you need to compete with the top boys. Youre right when you say, “Austin and a couple of other signings will not provide us with a side that can challenge on a regular basis” . The trouble is you’d have to spend a hell of a lot more than £100m wisely to challenge regularly.

I said in January we should have got Huth as a stop gap for 3 million hes a massive upgrade on all of our centre halfs !!!

BandB…I missed Willo’s interview. I bet it was inspiring. 4 CB’s is a lot. 2 back ups? Seems a bit wasteful to get in another.

I’ve only been skimming lately, did someone recently suggest that we couldn’t get in any players yet as our “squad” is already full?

One would have hoped that given the clubs need for fresh blood, that they may of been willing to simply release a player or two if they were unable to sell. Perhaps that’s a bit out there though?

  • 141 BandB // Jun 24, 2015 at 9:27 PM

They are still, in effect, the Championship selection, with two youngsters added….one of them likely to be first choice left back.

Which, LCBP, is why I also think Huth would have been a sensible choice.
Central defenders don’t peak at 26. Our policy as it stood rules out having a wise old head who can marshall a defence and spot a situation before it develops.

Or office, would come from the same ip. That’s why I reckon the serious wum would have to go to determined lengths to register more than say three ID’s. Once it is recognised that the same poster, by behaviour, spelling or grammar peculiarities etc is using multiples, registering new names from said ip addresses should be blockable.

  • 161 Blackley and Brownlie // Jun 24, 2015 at 9:43 PM

The difference between a season ticket and investing my own money with Charnley & Co is that I am spending my money when I buy a season ticket not investing it. I’m helping to pay the players’ wages.

Here’s the question. Let’s imagine you could ride on the back of Carr’s dealings in the transfer market. When he gets it right you take an annual share of the profit/increase in value or if he gets it wrong, you take a share of the loss. Would you invest any of your family wealth with these guys? If you wouldn’t, why would you want the club to borrow to invest in players?

I rushed my earlier post because I got pestered to do something. Just to be clear, I wouldn’t mind if the club borrowed to invest provided I had every confidence in the way the club was being run and the decision makers were highly competent. We’re a million miles from that. I even feel uneasy about them spending the profits.

We treat a simple lob like it was a mortar attack…panic and confusion everywhere.

We get done by it over and over again…along with the simple slide pass putting the midfield and defence into get-dizzy-and-trip-over-your-own-feet-and-fall-down reverse.

is Charlie trying to help us?

  • 203 BandB // Jun 24, 2015 at 10:44 PM

    Good night folks

  • 204 beermonkey // Jun 24, 2015 at 10:45 PM

we have never been blessed at the back
woodgate was class and what a deal to flog him while injured

I am hoping we will see our defensive record improve
hopefully we will defend a bit more from the front and pressure the ball more instead of inviting the pressure and sitting back

I have this picture of Ed in my head you know the Willy Wonka one where he’s just sitting there daydreaming.

    Add your own phrase..

£14 million for Cisse and Tiote? is that enough?

  • 207 Belfast // Jun 24, 2015 at 10:51 PM

  • 208 Graeme // Jun 24, 2015 at 10:51 PM

BandB – Hopefully, Schteve will be able to instil some form of dicipline, into the whole squad. If the defence supports the mid-field, going forward; the midfield supports the attack – it has to be a major improvement on the “Headless Chicken” system developed by Pardew & Carver.
If mid-field then covers when the attack breaks down, giving defence time to organise – Damn, we could almost be a TEAM – I know, how novel is that??

  • 209 ToonFromLeeds // Jun 24, 2015 at 10:53 PM

    Belfast but whats he thinking?

  • 210 Graeme // Jun 24, 2015 at 10:54 PM

TFL – £9 mill for Cisse; £5 mill for Tiote?

Providing every penny, PLUS the current budget was used to improve the squad, where is the problem??

  • 211 ToonFromLeeds // Jun 24, 2015 at 10:55 PM

fair point Graeme might buy us Charlie Austin 🙂

  • 212 Belfast // Jun 24, 2015 at 10:57 PM

I don’t know what he’s thinking but you can rule out anything to do with the comments section on his blog.

  • 213 Graeme // Jun 24, 2015 at 11:00 PM

TFL – but it doesn’t replace Tiote, which is a typical NUFC stunt under the Idjits in charge. The current squad is barely fit for purpose, through 8 years of penny pinching – it has to stop.

The money is there, spend it wisely – it will take 2, maybe 3 seasons to bring us back up to seriously challenging for Cups or Europe. Thats 3-4 years of steady investment and improvement.

Will it happen?? Who the hell knows??

  • 214 Blackley and Brownlie // Jun 24, 2015 at 11:01 PM

Does anyone recall this interview from Pards? You think old Blackley talks shite?

(Interesting reminder on the difficulties Pards had getting Loic Remy and also other signings because of the cold weather.)

“I think we need to re-assess this situation a little bit because the scenario isn’t good at this moment in time surrounding this football club. I’ve said before that the fans here are more knowledgeable than they’re given credit for, and when they start booing the players, I think it might be one of those situations just to tell you a bit.

You have to learn from that, if I’m an honest. If they’re telling the players they don’t know what they’re doing, you have to take notice of that. I was blaming the Europa League scenario a little bit and the injuries, but I think the fans might have a point sometimes. You have to recognise and accept that.”

I need to speak to Colo next week or the week after because Colo needs to understand that sometimes you need to say things that hurt a little bit, but you have to stand and be counted like a man and I’m sure he will see that. I won’t be commenting on the Colo situation.

I think one of the problems with this football club, if I’m honest, is that the top continental players find the scenario is too cold here, a little bit, and I think the fans understand that and that will always be a problem for any manager here. We only want committed players, looking at the right mentality, and so we do our homework to make sure of that. We don’t give players big five year contracts, 100%, if we think they mightn’t have the right mentality or can’t play in the cold.”

“But sometimes we might have to rely on those players like Nile and Xisco who have the big five year contracts and the wrong mentality because of the situation that we find ourselves in. ”

The scenario this week with Remy was that I asked him to come up on Tuesday, and the flight was booked, but I had to tell him so that he would know this is a strange city, a little bit, and it is a bit colder and it wasn’t a shock. I have to tell him that. I only come in at the end to tell players this. ”

But Remy didn’t leave his hotel and preferred to stay warm and play FIFA. Sometimes you do the homework and it doesn’t always work but I think the fans understand that scenario a little bit.”

“We did the homework with Colo and he has been fantastic for this club. I don’t know how cold it is in Argentina but the cold here is not a problem for Colo. I must tell the fans that the cold has nothing to do with the Colo scenario.”

“Mike and Derek have done wonders if I’m honest. Three years ago, before I came to this club, if you gave the fans a scenario that we’d have French internationals like Johan and Hatem and Matthieu and Sylvan, and top African players courted by the top clubs, with top young Italian and Dutch talent, they’d have been thanking Mike, 100%. ”

“I said I was 100% happy with the squad at the start of the season and anything else would just be the icing on the cake. But the FA Cup made us all think a little bit about that and I think the fans are knowledgeable enough to see that some of these kids might not be ready yet, a little bit, and might need to go out on loan for a year or two. I had to tell them that. I think we might need to do just a bit, possibly two or three new faces in the playing department, so I’ll be asking Mike and Derek to do a bit more if they can on that scenario, and I’m confident about that. Yesterday’s performance has certainly increased the discussion mode on that.”

I don’t need to tell Mike and Derek because they see it themselves at the games sometimes like yesterday because the pressure can build a little bit in this place on days like that. They are two strong characters who I respect a lot, and sometimes that sort of situation might get to you a bit if I’m honest when they’re sitting right behind you if you’re not strong enough. You might not make the right decisions a little bit. I will be suggesting to Mike and Derek that they might need to do something else on a Saturday because sometimes in these scenarios you need time to think about it without added pressures from them.”

What I didn’t want to do was to take two flair players off in that scenario but I took Marv off and then Johan who had already told me at half time he was struggling. You can’t always predict these scenarios. I might have done things differently sometimes and I think Mike and Derek know that.

We really only have two strikers at this club. I should have put a striker on at that point to give us extra impetus, but I did not have that option. Shola’s terrific, but he can’t train all week and that might show a little at times and we can’t always rely on him. We don’t play Sunderland every week. I think the fans understand what I mean by that.

Nile has said one or two things following the game, criticising the fans, and he wouldn’t be here, like I said a few months back, 100%, and I’ll need to speak to him about that next week. He was on the bench but I couldn’t use him and the fans will understand that. Same for Steven. He was on the bench but I couldn’t use him. It’s frustrating for a manager when you get a scenario like that. Sometimes you can’t use a player in certain situations because of the scenario that you’re in.

Papiss is not doing it for us at this moment in time, if I’m honest, because our midfield has not been strong this season. I think the fans know that but sometimes one or two need to understand that you just need to defend games with some of your flair players at times when you’re at home against teams like Reading, who showed in the first half that they can be dangerous.”

I was looking to John and Steve to help me out in that substitution scenario a little bit, and they are terrific in those situations, but we might need to look at that a little bit. I would never say never again after what happened with big Andy, but I csn ssy 100% John and Steve will be here for eight years with me, definitely 100%. But they might need a little bit of help if I’m honest and I will need to speak to Mike about that. We are not far away from being a very good side.”

I can stand up to this pressure. I’m used to these scenarios at my previous clubs. I always said that this season might need to be one of consolidation and it is about educating the fans to that scenario. I think I’m being proved right on that, if I’m honest.”

I said this week that our game plan that we had last year and the way we played might need to change to just make sure that we continue being a stable Premier League side.”

Belfast I think Ed should be talking the trolls and wums seriously.

  • 216 ToonFromLeeds // Jun 24, 2015 at 11:07 PM

We supposedly have plenty of other money to spend so we should be able to replace Tiote too.

    Take a breath man

    Simpson & Cathro?

  • 218 musomag // Jun 25, 2015 at 12:27 AM

So the headline was ‘Newcastle get help to sign Charlie Austin’ then I had to endure reading over 200 completely irrelevant ‘responses’. Pathetic, petty squabbling.

Seriously WTF is going on with this blog?
