Cabella’s Father Rubbishes La Provence Claims

5:58 pm, Thursday, June 25th, 2015 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 21 Comments

La Provence today had a report out that Marseilles may be keen on going on getting Remy Cabella in on loan next season, and near the end of the report they said that Cabella wanted to leave Newcastle United.

Remy Cabella – no desire to leave Newcastle

This is the bit about Cabella wanting to leave Newcastle – translated from the French:

“Remy Cabella (31 games, 21 starts for 1 goal) wishes to leave the north-east of England. The champion of France, crowned in 2012, has informed his representatives at the end of last year that Spain is his preference, including Sevilla.”

And we noted immediately after that – “But we’d be very surprised if that is accurate.”

Well it looks like it isn’t.

His father Hector quickly contacted L’Equipe quickly today and said this:

“My son is fine in Newcastle,” “He will resume with his club on July 1st.” “He has the ambition to make a great season for Euro 2016.”

“We have no discussions with OM (Marseilles) or anyone . He signed six years, not to leave after one season.“

The report in La Provence had suggested that not only could Cabella go on loan next season to Marseilles,  but maybe he could be used in a part exchange for Florian Thauvin, who Newcastle are trying to sign.

Right at the end of the article – almost as an after-thought they said Cabella wished to leave Newcastle.

Here’s our report on the La Provence article earlier today.

Remy Cabella is one of those players who could become a success under Steve McClaren and the new coaching staff next season, so it would make no sense to let Remy go – and he’s always seemed to love it on Tyneside – even after the terrible season the club has just had.

Comments welcome.

tbf i think cabella will do a lot better with someone like macca in charge ! maybe as a right winger and put sissoko more central with siem.

Didn’t have a great first season, but showed quality in glimpses. With what seems to be a more tactically astute coaching team in the making, he could definitely improve this year.

The lad just needs to beef up a bit to prevent constantly being bullied off the ball and he has the skills to be a decent NUFC player in the future i reckon

Cathro is neither a Geordie or has been Sir Bobbies no2, he has no rights to be employed.

    Cathro Out…. 🙂

More info on Cathro – click on the link to the “BOX Soccer Training” he developed. He should be just what Cabella & Co need.

everyone says his game against chelsea was amazing, which it was. but his second half against arsenal at home was pretty impressive too. he did some nice work on the right wing

Cabella will come good if the side tries to actually play football, things are looking up.
Pardew gone, Carver gone, the most positive I’ve been pre-season since Allardyce appointment, who turned out to be shite by the way…..

Now it’s time for ashley to ban “La Provence”. That will teach them.

    Schoenmaker on way

    so our midfield has imo

2 dm in colback/tiote although as our toon rightly said colback could be classed as box to box also.

3 box to box or 4 if you class colback in abied/sissoko/anita

    3 acm in vukic/marv/siem !

and thats not adding bigi who will prob go tbh.

for 2-3 positions depending on tactics !
imo we could lose a few and replace them with wingers that will be good for us.

if it was me i’d release bigi/vukic/anita not saying there bad players as they still do a great job for us but they are imo our weakest in those area’s and i’d give marv another crack as he def has the best pass and vision of all our team apart from siem imo.

that’s good to know about Cathro

Plenty of chat about Cabella coming good under the right coaching etc, what doesn’t make sense is the chat of him bulking up. Is he more lightweight than Sterling, David Silva, Juan Mata, Santi Carzola etc no he isn’t, he doesn’t need to bulk up he needs to learn to release the ball quicker.

Fans always point to arguably the only game he really stood out in and that was chelsea game, he didn’t score and didn’t get an assist in a dominant 45 mins…..not good enough, Sammy Ameobi contributed more last season in assists than Cabella, and he scored the same amount of goals.

Coaching will not solve the puzzle of Cabella it’s the player himself who needs to change, he needs to release the ball sooner. He needs to stop the daft stepovers when no one is around, his shooting last season was god awful, powder puff shots….his vision or killer balls through were awful and that’s supposed to be his main asset. None of these issues has anything to do with his size or coaching but more to do with his ability or lack of!!

    @16 our toon

tbh i’d pretty much agree with you !
your right too many fancy tricks and him being lightweight is actually of benefit to him.

his final ball and shots was rubbish though i agree he created a hell of a lot but if the ball doesnt get to the man or the back of the net it counts for nothing !

with less pressure and a bit of direction off a manager with a brain who will hopefully tell him his shots need to be a another 20mph faster and his passing stronger and not to go to pieces when he has a chance to shoot then i reckon it could come good for the lad imo.

Is Cathro good enough to turn Willo into a Terry ,that would take some doing
Good luck on that one !!

  • 19 croftus5678 // Jun 25, 2015 at 6:43 PM

    @18 mickalfas

turning willo into someone with the defensive skills of an orange would be a challenge to even the best coach in the world mate.

  • 20 mickalfas // Jun 25, 2015 at 6:49 PM

Would that be a Terry’s chocolate orange !!

  • 21 mickalfas // Jun 25, 2015 at 6:52 PM

    Back to the headline
Cabella is not leaving imo,he earns a hell of a lot more money here ,players leave France because of the tax rates, hes set for life with his 6 year contract !!
