It looks like Charlie Austin will not make a decision on which club he will join for another two weeks.
Charlie has just been married to his long-term partner Bianca Parker, and they are off to the Maldives for their honeymoon – so it’s first things first – and the clubs after him such as Newcastle United – will just have to wait for his decision.
Chelsea seem to have switched their attentions from Austin to another Newcastle target – Anderlecht’s 20 year-old Serbian International Aleksandar Mitrovic – and they have dropped in the betting for Charlie to 4th favorites at 5/1.
Charlie Austin – Newcastle still favorites
Bournemouth have come in at 3/1, and they have been spending money this summer to try to strengthen their squad.
A few days ago agreed to pay £8M for Ipswich Town defender Tyrone Mings – that’s a high fee for somebody who is untested in the Premier League.
Here’s the current odds on Sky Bet on where Charlie will end up this summer:
Newcastle 5/6
West Ham 3/1
Bournemouth 9/2
Chelsea 5/1
The problem with any striker moving to Chelsea is that Jose Mourinho only plays one striker up front, and they already have top striker Diego Costa as their number one at the London club.
Other strikers at Stamford Bridge will not get too many games there, as Loic Remy found out last season.
Charlie would be a tremendous signing for Newcastle, and if he did sign, we would see young Geordie fans trying to get a look at him at the Benton training grounds – so it would also be a great choice for him.
Yes, there may be a little bit of bias in there.
But it will depend on what his new bride Bianca wants, and where she wants to live.
There have been rumors that Bianca wants to stay in the London area – so his decision could well rest with the new Mrs Austin.
It will be an important decision for him too, and if it is true that Bianca wants to stay in London, that would probably mean he would sign for West Ham.
If Charlie is a wise man, then he would sign on at West Ham under those conditions.
🙂
Believe me, I know what I’m talking about (well at least in this instance), having been married Madeline for 43 years.
Austin scored a great 18 Premier League goals in just 36 games last season, and the 6″ 2″striker would be given the iconic number 9 short at Newcastle if he did sign.
Charlie has only just been called up by England for the first time, and with Newcastle being such a high profile club – playing week in week out at Newcastle will hardly hurt his International chances.
Here’s Charlie’s Twitter account in case you want to send him a message – although he may not be checking his Twitter account anytime soon.
Comments welcome.

Comment #81Not sure van Ginkel is the ready made replacement for cabaye but for sure one is needed. Our Dutch contingent can only be a positive in The players decision. We are crying out for a class playmaker. Understatement I know.

If we could purchase van Ginkel for less than £10M IMO we should buy rather than loan, as he will be fair more expensive after a year in the PL.

Comment #90Mitrovic would have been a good buy i think. But IF its true that he is wanted to be Costa’s understudy then we best forget him.
Still wont believe any of these links until they are in black and white strips

So would I, I remember Charnley staring at fans forum last year they were around the same level as the 2012/2013 season, but obviously we can’t trust a word he says.
I’d imagine they’re fairly significantly down on last years. I don’t remember the deadline being extended twice nor a begging letter being received last year.

Comment #97Marco Van Ginkel looks a good replacement / up grade for Cabaye, likes to get his foot in and knock the ball around. Seems to have gone of the boil in Milan, but would perhaps suit the PL better.

Comment #101“Name one puppy of war G2” you say. Well I’ll give you more than one….errm let’s see where is that list. Hmmm. It’s not under The Theory of Low Bids……mmmm it’s not down the side of the settee with the remote……Ahhhh!!!! Here it is Newcastle United’s Puppies of War!! Hear this and tremble in fear top 10 clubs from last season:
Gabbie Obertan: teeth gnashing, snarling fur ball of fury!
Ayoze Perez: Chihuahua of pestilence. Small but viscious!
Remy Cabella: Doberman of Death!!!
And soon we will sign more puppies of war! No club will be safe from our fury. Huzzah!!!

Comment #104If Mitrovic doesn’t want to come, then we don’t want him! The same goes for the lot of them. Your Austins, Ings, Abdennours, Thauvins, Ayews, Berahinos, Conchas, Podolskies, Agostos, Hradeckys, Denayers, Ramirizes, Fosus, etc. etc. etc. We don’t need any of them! Because we have the puppies of war!!!!

Comment #106Mrs Austin will go where Charlie wants to go! If the package is right; like I’ve said before 60 or 70k a week, a nice signing on fee and guarantee that he plays when fit. Les Fernando will guide him if we pay the 15 Mil they want! Cmon man get yer fingers out and sell him the club via the wages!

Comment #109So we made the BBC sport football site by announcing that Catheter doesn’t consider coming to us a letdown. No…. nothing of the sort. With the types of players we’re already signing this summer he is fully confident of us being top 17 next season. Beautiful man that Catheter.

Comment #113After saying yesterday I’d ban in league loans in the EPL and make players pay all agents fees I’ve came up with another rule I’d implement.
Players would only receive 50% of their wages if they haven’t appeared for the 1st team that week.
Hopefully that would ensure the players commitment to better themselves and also make young players think more about whether they’d get game time at a bigger club.
Hols they get 75% and injuries 75% as long as it’s no Marcelino type.
Obviously it needs more thought and research for keepers and youth players but it would still be 50% and the rest performance based.

Comment #120One thing at a time jesper mate. Every month we sign one coach. This distracts the supporters who were actually expecting a coaching staff to be in place by the first week of June. Also nobody is thinking about the fact we’re not signing any players either. Who needs good players when we almost have an assistant to the head coach? Huzzah!!!!
